Currently users you block can still see your posts, reply to those posts, and trigger notifications when they do reply.

You can read the beginning of messages people you have blocked in your notifications tab, but have to unblock users to see the rest of what everyone else reading the replies to your post can see.

A "blocking" feature that is only inconvenient to the blocker is worse than no blocking feature at all, equivalent to trying to escape a fistfight by turning invisible but actually just closing your eyes.

I got this when trying to report https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/364640/Trendy-Reaction-Videos and also separately got the same when trying to report https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/364628/Home

I moderate @mcsuggestions, and today, I noticed that my comments on the two most recent threads didn't show up when I was logged in. After some experimentation, I figured out that whenever I had any domain blocked, all comments on those threads disappeared. From what I can tell in this magazine, others are experiencing the same problem. What's causing this?

And, while we're here, why am I taken to an error page every time I make a thread? That's also odd.

Edit: Haha, just remembered something based on another bug that occurred with this thread.

Those two threads I mentioned each had 4-5 copies that I had to delete. I assume that maybe it was a mistake due to the error page when you post a thread, but it turns out that this very thread posted twice somehow. Maybe that's part of the cause here?

Could anyone assist in how to report this problem as an issue on codeberg?

I was only able to post this as a "Link"

Strangely, a post is made as I can view it from my profile, but it's just not visible in the magazine unless I log out.

Here is the error I receive.
The post is visible in my profile.
Not visible in the magazine.
Unless I log out, then it IS visible ...

I just don't know how to word this to report an issue. It's so strange.

I have not been able to post "Thread" or "Photo" for over a week. There is another post about this as well, but it doesn't seem to be seen by many either.

Since Monday, I’ve had issues posting threads. I’ll get an error message saying:

We are working on resolving the issues

Over the next few days, there will be a change in server infrastructure. Temporary problems with the website's functionality may occur during this time.

...Despite the message, my threads will still post to the magazine--but few users can see them.

I’m sorry if this has been addressed before; I did a quick look at this mag and couldn’t find the exact issue I’m dealing with. I’m just wondering if this is normal ‘fediverse growing pains’ or something I need to fix on my end?

Thanks for any help. We have a massive event coming up in a week—probably going to drive a tonne of traffic to our magazine—and I’m really hoping we can find a fix before then.

EDIT: The specific magazine I'm referring to is this one: kbin.social/m/Squaredcircle

Ok, this is a weird problem I’ve had happened twice now. I make a post (one was to a kbin magazine, one to a lemmy community), and I’ll get notifications that there are comments. But when I go to the post to look at them, it will say “5 comments” but show none of them and say there are no comments. But, if I log out, I can see the comments. If I log back in, they’re gone. I’ve tried in different browsers (Safari and Firefox) and had the same issue.

If it was once, I’d think it was a fluke, but it’s twice now, and on different federated sites.

I "can't" post. I just joined and when trying to post an error occurs but then the post seems to be created. Is this normal?

I'm the mod for @food, and we've had a spam problem. New spam accounts are created daily, and I ban them and delete their posts daily. But, users from other instances have informed me that some of the posts are still showing on those instances, even ones that were deleted more than a week ago on kbin.

As an example, there are spam posts up at https://lemm.ee/c/food@kbin.social that are not visible on kbin, such as those by users veteya and magdor. I specifically recall removing those posts from kbin.

A clue as to what is going wrong may be in the moderation log for @food. Even though posts by those users were deleted, the deletions do not show up in the moderation log. Supporting this theory, for any post I've checked that shows as deleted in the moderation log, I do not see that post on lemm.ee.

I also recall a few times (maybe with those posts) where I deleted a post and was met with an error screen after the fact. But, the posts were gone when I checked, so I didn't think anything of it.

Is there any way for me to force these old deletions to propagate across the fediverse? And, is there anything I need to do differently to ensure future deletions propagate?

I edited the sidebar for the magazine I'm modding. But then apparently the changes don't appear when it's viewed from Lemmy instances that I know do otherwise federate with kbin.social and that display most of the rest of the magazine fine.

Is this a known issue and is there anything I can do about it?

The "send message" button only works for kbin users.
On any user outside of kbin I get a 403.
btw, is there a specific magazine for kbin-software issues?

Bad take aside, It's frustrating the upvotes and downvotes I get on kbin don't match up to how they appear on lemmy, or hell, even other instances of kbin.

I'll have posts that have 20 upvotes here on kbin.cafe, but 2 elsewhere. I'll have posts that will have no downvotes at all on kbin.social, but they'll be present on lemmy.

How am I supposed to gauge people's reactions when the feedback isn't consistant between sites and instances?

Some weeks ago, I decided to block lemmy.world from my profile, because I only saw memes and shitposts from that instance, and I found easier to block the whole instance instead of blocking single communities.

But I keep seeing communities from that instance when I'm browsing all. Why is that?

290

Oftentimes, I cannot see my own threads or comments unless I link them to myself directly from an unsigned out window. And then to boot, I can't see comments in my own threads. It's super frustrating rn.

Hello,

As a lemmy user that is concerned about the current state of lemmy.world, I would like to know the process of requesting a community on kbin because I'm looking for alternatives to migrate my community in case it implodes. Specifically, I'm looking at taking over m/drama as the lone mod is inactive.

How would the process work towards requesting communities on kbin and how long may it take for a request to go through?

292

how can certain threads be followed / saved / favored - for later use?

293

Can i suggest a feature request ?

A regular cleanup of dead magazines. Any magazine that have no activity since a defined time should be deleted.

I have two unread messages I can't access, as going to the notifications page results in a 50x error every time.

Has anyone else encountered this, or know of a fix?

This seems related to having left a comment, that got replied to, on a post that Kbin sees as "deleted_by_author" - after deletion, no comments are visible on the Kbin post.

The original post on Lemmy appears intact, while the version on Kbin is empty. Navigating to my own comment there is a blank result, but if I navigate via the 'reply' function it's still available.

If Kbin is trying to load a reply it also believes does not exist, that may be breaking things - but it leaves my notification box permanently broken because there's no way to 'clear' that paradox post from the listing.

How do I make a multipart post in a magazine?

I just tried posting the series of parts to my /mag, they showed up in reverse order in the microblog? WTF?

Please, if there is some advantage to this microblog thing, I'd love to know what is, and also how to make a post in my own magazine that does not feature a link.

'Threads/Microblog/People/Magazines' is where simplicity goes sideways in this webapp. It is not obvious what those things are; the couple of guides I've found don't discuss this focal point of confusion.

Hi all,

I'm posting this to see if there's any interest in a Moderators Union magazine / community here on kbin. The purpose of this community would be to create a support network between moderators. Ideally this community would be a place to network, generate cross-community support, identify the best techniques for helping communities grow, and identify improvements in the Kbin software to help the mod teams thrive.

As constant users of the software, we have a view, particularly on a Quality Assurance level, that could be very helpful to @ernest and the development team - one that most standard users don't. As such, it's my hope that a community for moderators would help strengthen both the kbin community as well as its technological capability.

From what I can tell, there are communities for kbinDesign and kbinDevLog, but nothing yet for mods.

That being said, I wanted to gauge interest here on kbinMeta before creating such a magazine, and to see if there's already a space here that I've missed where such conversations take place. Your thoughts and commentary are more than welcome, and if someone just decides to start one up, please post it here so I can sub.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Let's say a user wants to join a dedicated /kbin instance for audio fiction. There are a variety of magazines on that instance, by genre, title, new releases, etc. It's a nifty theoretical instance. 😉

But this user wants to do more than just interact with the magazines and people on that instance. They want to use their account on this /kbin instance to follow accounts not on that server. So maybe @fraser@m.universetoday.com because they are quite interested in Astronomy, @effinbirds@mastodon.social because they like funny birds talking shit, and @ernest@kbin.social because they are interested in learning more about /kbin. Again, they want to follow all three of those accounts with the account they made on this not-so-mythical audio fiction-centetric /kbin server.

Can they? How do they search for, find, and follow those accounts because those accounts are not (yet, at least) "connected" to the unnamed (it's hotaudiofiction.social) /kbin instance?

And if they can, how would they see the posts from those un-connected accounts? Like, where is the "timeline" view in /kbin?
