New android tv device.

After I select the server, I am prompted to type in the quick connect code. After that, it says unable to connect to jellyfin. It has internet. Jelly works everywhere else

Good news for all - Our LG webOS app is now approved for all versions! No more developer mode or homebrew required, just go the content store and install!

If you currently have the developer or homebrew versions installed, please make sure to remove those before using the store version.

I'm running into an issue accessing the Jellyfin web UI from Firefox (Chrome works fine). I try to log into an account but the spinner runs for a few seconds then disappears without logging in. When I reload the page, it appears I'm logged in, though all I see is the header and the rest of the page is blank. I get the following errors in console:

Uncaught Error: Permission denied to access property "ownerDocument"
Uncaught Error: Permission denied to access property "localName"

Has anyone else run into this issue?

I don't need chapters. Even when we used CDs, I didn't use them. How can I hide them?

To those who use them: why? What for? I either play a movie or I don't. What's it good for?

I just discovered scyfin a modern theme for jellyfin. It's not listed in the Skin Manager plugin which is why I share it here.

I was just browinsg PRs of jellyfin. It's incredible how many PRs were merged in the past months. The linked PR is approved but not yet merged. I'm really looking forward to this new feature.

Another PR is also very interesting. It suggest changing the year of the collections to the most recent year and not the first year when the first movie of the collection was released. It is rejected but at least there is something going on. I only disable collections because it is ordered differently than I would want to have it.

They appear before all other movies. If sorted ascending by year it's really annoying that they are not sorted correctly although the right year is shown.

Tvdb, tmdb and imdb all show the correct info.i can't find a character mistake either.

Edit: I deleted the nfos and now it's back to normal

Hi all. Very new potential jellyfin user trying to set things up.

I have one of those mini fanless mini PC boxes with Proxmox and pfsense installed. Jellyfin has been installed as a lxc via one of the helper scripts. Set it up and it works fine.

I'm now trying to set it up to access an old Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ that I have lying around. It's been setup with SMB/CIFS as well as FTP access. I'm considering disabling SMB/CIFS access since I think I don't need that anymore. I think the NAS only supports TLS 1.2 protocol and it's probably safer to disable it security wise. After searching around, I've come across curlftpfs which seems to be able to mount a ftp server as a local directly which i can then use as a library for jellyfin.

Is this the best way or is there a better alternative I can consider?

Thanks.

Does anyone have any experience running Jellyfin on a Synology NAS that does not have container support? The Jellyfin installation guide recommends a Docker install for Synology. I have a Synology DS418 which apparently doesn't support Docker.

Hey! Since Jellyfin and Swiftfin weren’t updated for about a year now, and there are some bugs that bother me, I’m wondering what you guys use instead of them :)

My Google TV picked up the latest versions of the jellyfin app and now a few of my 4k movies are no longer working as expected. I'm getting pauses and it looks almost like a buffering issue. I checked with my NAS and see network to the TV to be around 9MB/s which is fine for a wired connection. I used to be on wifi, but started having the same issue there after the update so I loved to a wired connection. Some 4k movies are good over wired, but some are in buffering hell.

Am I alone with this issue ? Idk. I ordered a 1gb USB adapter for the tv as a last attempt to validate it isn't the network connection. Will be here this weekend and will update with the results from that.

Got to tv on GB ethernet and I see it pulling the file at around 50MB/s which is great, but no difference. Maybe I did something wrong on the encode... Not sure. Let me try a re-encode of the movie... Idk

I've started collecting a lot of movies and tv-sjows for my jellyfin server, but I found it quite difficult to keep track of what I already have, what I want and if I have the subtitles and everything for it. What would you suggest to keep track of what is and isn't available on a jellyfin server?

I've seen some stuff like the *arr software, but I actually just want to have a simple piece of software that just keeps track of my media, and doesn't also look for new stuff.

I'm running a new installation of the server and LibreELEC (this worked fine on my previous installs, but I decided to fix what ain't broke).
I'm casting over the LAN from the server on Debian to LibreElec on a Rraspberry Pi.
The problem I'm encountering now is that LibreElec will hang and show a spinner for anywhere from 15 seconds to several minutes when advancing to the next track of an album or music playlist. It only breaks when I'm casting, not when I'm playing locally through the Player. It only breaks for FLAC files, not Mp3s, so transcoding seems to have something to do with it.
I've disabled playback of transcoded audio in the user's settings and restarted the server, but it didn't change anything.

Where should I be looking to figure this out?

Getting a lot of color wash when watching videos in the client. End up having to drop the resolution really low to make it behave. Are there any ways to make it stop doing this?

EDIT: Found Delfin on software manager. Seems to be behaving for now. Thanks to everyone that responded.

I installed Jellyfin on an iMac running Fedora 39/Gnome and it was running more or less without any issues. However, I wanted to have the iMac on a VPN which would prevent accessing content indexed by Jellyfin elsewhere. So I installed Ubuntu on an old Mac Mini that I had, planning to make it a NAS box as well as host Jellyfin. The install there did not go well at all, I got the error "The server is expected to host the web client, but the provided content directory is either invalid or empty."

I found a post on github where a user created the directory listed in the error and then copied from /usr/share/jellyfin/web/ and when I did that the startup went further but then it threw the error "Kestrel failed to start! This is most likely due to an invalid address or port bind - correct your bind configuration in network.xml and try again."

I could not find a clear answer as to where the "network.xml" file is located, and I couldn't find any files that seemed to have the contents that were expected in network.xml. I put that aside for another day, considering a different distro if there are any others that are better with jellyfin than Ubuntu.

Today I was going to watch something that had been working on the Fedora box, and it would not play. I checked systemctl and jellyfin was not running. I tried launching it from the terminal and I got the same "server is expected to host the web client" error I had before.

Has anyone else run into these issues? Is there any better documentation out there than what is on the jellyfin site? Any help is much appreciated.

I am using a HDhomerun duo with Jellyfin but when I stop the playback the resource lock isn't being freed reliability. I am accessing the homerun over a VPN so maybe that's part of the issue.

Anyone else having this issue? If so, how did you fix it?

Edit: it was Caddy

I've recently gotten into collecting Mystery Science Theater 3000 for my Jellyfin library. For those who aren't aware, it is technically a TV show, but each episode is a full length feature film. That being the case, these DVD sets tend to have a number of special features specific to each episode.

Now typically, you can create an 'Extras' directory specific to each season of a TV show, and that's where I would normally put the special features. In this case, however, I would prefer the special features to be grouped by episode, rather than being grouped by season. That doesn't seem to be possible in Jellyfin at the moment.

It could potentially work if I were to classify the episodes as movies, and put the special features in the movie directory instead, but neither TMDB or TTVDB classify MST3K episodes as movies, so I would have to write up all the metadata and images myself, instead of it being added automatically. That would take a lot of work, and it would also end up greatly inflating the size of my movie library.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

~~I am trying to get transcoding working but every time I let the display go to sleep transcoding breaks. (Host Linux mint). I'm looking to keep my integrated graphics powered to allow for transcoding.~~

Edit: the device pass though in Podman breaks when I'm not logged in.
