56 Automatons, 48 Scripts, 63 Helpers and 5 Years running HA, and I feel like there is not much more to do.

There are of course a few more things I would like to do, but As we all know Cash can, and is a restraint.

  • Every room is fully kitted out with Motion sensors, Door sensors, Philips hue lights ETC.
  • Every outlet which could contain a load needing switched/monitored has a Shelly Wave 2PM/ PM Mini behind it.
  • Humidity sensors in the bathrooms for auto fan control.
  • HA Voice / Atom echo's in every room for voice control running Local LLM
  • Tablets at all major points( Desk, Living room, Kitchen, Garage ,Bedroom)
  • TV fully controlled via Tablet including Input control.
  • Even an automation section for feeding the dog, and not feeding her when she is not home.

5 years ago I never thought I would/could get here, and now, aside from wanting to get a lock for the front door, and install CT Clamps in the electrical panel, I feel as if I have reached an evolutionary constraint.

Has anyone else been here? Is there a secret section of thing in my life I can automate I don't know about?

i know this isn’t exactly the right place but most of my 3d printing ideas surround HA related stuff (mounts for sensors, stuff like that). i know one company, ~~prusa~~ bamboo i think, was in hot water for some at least perceived changes to their API, however that company seemed the most recommended. Any advice? Budget isn’t really a factor but maybe $1500ish is where i’d like to land?

I too was hit with the horrible MyQ Home Assistant cut off and went to Paul Wieland but I'm sorry, $62 for each complete kit was a bit out of my price range as I need two. I'm not good with making YouTube videos or stuff but I can read a schematic and solder so I thought I too could make my own. was a great place to start but it is not for the novice so I thought I could draw it up for anyone to do. So I hope this helps someone. I used one 2N7002, one AO3400A, and three 10K Resistors. The ESP8266 WeMos D1 Mini was also the perfect choice. The ElectroCookie or EPLZON mini breadboard was also perfect as they are cheap and easy to get. The black dots represent where to solder and it is color coded to help a little. The finished product is probably easier to follow.

Not really Home Assistant specific, but this was driving me crazy, so I thought I'd share. I had multiple Nuki smartlocks over the years, and while they locked/unlocked great, they often struggled with opening the door because of my old crooked door frame. They worked better with fresh batteries but it still struggled a bit even with a new pack. And with rechargeable AA batteries it worked really shitty.

After like 3 years of struggling, I've decided to try rechargeable li-ion 1.5V batteries and they fixed everything! Regular AA batteries start with 1.5V but quickly drop to 1.2-1.0V, and regular rechargeable AAs are usually 1.2V. But li-ion ones hold 1.5V until they are empty, and this gives the extra oomph that my smart lock motor needs to open the door.

So if you have a battery-powered motor that needs a bit more juice, try the li-ion 1.5V batteries!

Just today, I have installed Home Assistant on an old mini PC that I had sitting around doing nothing. Prior to this, I have always relied on Amazon and to a lesser degree Apple home to automate some lights and plugs around the house. I would like to now concentrate on using Home Assistant. But my wife needs to be able to turn lights off and on using her Apple home app on her iPhone. Is this a no-brainer to set up? Some of our lights are on Phillips hue, with a hub, and some lights are on Wi-Fi smart plugs.

Wireless sensors use batteries, did you know that next to the AA and AAA rechargeable batteries there are also rechargeable coin cell batteries for CR2032, CR1632 and CR2450 available?

More about sensor batteries (and where to buy them)

Do you use rechargeable coin cell batteries? What is your experience with them?

Which robot vacuum and mop are you using for home currently? Does it work as well as you expected?

We're considering buying a new one to ease our housework burden as we have been so busy lately. Budget is not my main concern, we want something durable and reliable in the long run.

I know this is not a small invesment so truly need your advice and recommendations from your real experience with them. Please feel free to let me know any suggestions that you've tried and found really good so far. Thanks in advance.
