What’s on your mind? What are you working on? Do you think Heero Yuy could fight a grizzly bear?

Hey everyone!

I’m seeing more and more people subscribe so I wanted to make this post. Feel free to post any projects you’re working on, workstation setups, tool collections, all that good stuff.

With that in mind, what is your favorite build so far, or the one you’re most proud of?

You can comment under this post or make a new post, whatever you’re comfortable with!

This isn't my hobby, but I can't help but be inspired by the dedication of some of the frequent posters to this Lemmy community.

I happened to be in a place recently where these were being sold and got to see them for sale in the boxes for the first time. I had no idea how expensive some of these got! The silver one in the center frame was $99 and I saw others there price at $170! So not only is there a high cost to get the kit, but then all of the work you guys put into assembly (and painting?).

You've got something here you like doing. Keep being your awesome selves!

RG Force Impulse Gundam Complete

Finally finished it. Kind of sad that the core fighter isn't an extra after all (it's embedded in the torso, as it should be), but otherwise I am extremely happy with this kit. Never did figure out why it was so cheap. If more RG's were at this price point I'd find it hard to stick with HG.

Hoping to do a more thorough photoshoot tomorrow.

I breezed through this kit over the weekend, really fun build!

Fist Ver.Ka! Also first post!

This was a quick and fun little build, as well as my first entry grade. The only thing I don't like is the beam rifle, which should've been black IMO.

I still have to do some paint work and panel liner but I got the metal frame parts installed and it is awesome. Heavyarms is actually heavy now.

This is a kitbash between HG Asmoday and a 30MS option set. I was doing Gunpla/30MS kitbashes for a while, and plan to do more, but time and all that.

So, I missed the first round of voting, but the second round is up, to pick from the top 20 from the first round. Top picks from this round get a re-release (in Japan, obviously, but hopefully that'll trickle overseas). Rules are that you can give one vote a day from Bandai Hobby, and one vote a day from Builders Note, but the latter seems to require a Bamco ID.

Welcome to this week’s discussion thread. Have you built anything cool? Seen anything worth mentioning? Just wanna whine about when that kit you want is gonna get reprinted?

Made with 30MM Provedel and Acerby as the base, with parts from many other kits also used.

RG Force Impulse Gundam (Force Silhouette)

Last one of these for a bit: the Force Silhouette, AKA the Silhouette Flyer with a backpack.

Next is the actual mobile suit.

The options to order online I have where I live are really limited. So when I was in Japan I went crazy. I'm really happy with what I managed to pick up.

These purchases were made in Gundam Base Satellite Kyoto, Gundam Base Tokyo and several Mandarake locations.

RG Force Impulse Gundam (Silhouette Flyer)

That's the second additional aircraft in the kit. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the core fighter, but it makes up for it in panel lines. Oh, and it connects to the backpack.

So I built this a while ago but never posted it. I really only weathered this using the tamiya weathering powders and a mat top coat. Still one of my favorites on the shelf though.

I REALLY like the 86’s mech designs. Quad and hexapedal robots always make more sense than bipedal imo, especially when they’re not 20m tall

RG Force Impulse Gundam (Core Splendor)

I wanted to see why this kit was so cheap and I'm still confused. An articulated, color separated core fighter? Fantastic. And as far as I can tell this is just an extra, too. Can't wait to get to the mobile suit.

This kit made me swear off special coating kits. The white armor parts have a shiny coating with a metallic base layer that shows through on the corners. It's a pretty nice effect, but you are unable to clean up the nubs without damaging the finish, and the pieces aren't undergated. On top of that, it's Gramps 3.0, which isn't the best version (I hear it's either 2.0 or GTO for MG). All that for $100 price tag. I can't say I'd recommend this kit unless you really like Gramps and aren't a painter.

So I just finished this kit up. Love the zeta, it’s top 5 MS easily and I’m a sucker for anything in actual military/grunt colors. This kit wasn’t anything too bad but it 100% is showing its age.

I ignored the stickers(as is tradition) and used some enamel paint for the eyes and cameras. Deepened the panel lines cause some were mere hints of panels. Lined him and called it a day. Like the finished look but dang the kits got a few hangups.

Arms are definitely meh, and it possesses one of my biggest pet peeves of not being able to hold the guns well. The arms also needs to be positioned right to just hold the gun AND its bicep connection is super tight. Add in the flimsy feeling shoulder and I’m being super careful about how I move/twist the bicep/forearm.

Posing in general is rough. The hip gun things need to be lifted up to allow any posing due to them hitting the back skirt and popping it off and I think the actual hips/leg connection is loose. Thing loses its stance from light pressure. Legs aren’t too bad on their own but those dang fabric tube sleeve things suck. To get them in place was a struggle and by the time I was done the ends were frayed.

Chest went together well but some of the snap connections were super stiff. With the chest being mostly hollow I really felt like I was going to break something. Luckily no issues there.

Overall I’d give it a 6/10. It is dated and takes some mindfulness but I’d build it again. On a related note anyone know of the best MG Zeta to get? After this I want one to actually pose nice and feel more solid. I don’t want one of my fav Gundams to live exclusively in this state. I hear the ver.ka is preem

I’m back with a new post! This is just snap built before I go ham on the repaint.

A discussion in the weekly discussion thread prompted me to post this one today. I panel lined, used the included sticker decals (eww), and sprayed a matte topcoat.

Anything you folks want to talk about. Build questions, advice, what you’re about to start building, etc.

This one is just a straight build, nothing extra done to it. It was pricy for a MG and a Gundam Base exclusive, but I love the Freedom, so I had to get it.
