I hope advertising our little orchestra is accepted in this community. It might be interesting to any guitar, mandolin, or mandola player in Berlin that wants to play in a stress-free amateur orchestra.

We also accept and help absolute newbies to either instrument and can help finding an instrument! If any of this sounds interesting, shoot me a DM or mail.

The trailer has finally dropped for the long-awaited Spinal Tap sequel, with our heroes older definitely, wiser maybe, and ready to make some kind of comeback – to climb out of obscurity and reclaim their legacy as one of Britain’s great heavy metal institutions.

For that, they’re going to need guitars, and lots of them. Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown might have made all the early running in the bid to be the most guitar-heavy film of 2025, but for all of Timothée Chalamet and Gibson’s efforts, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is going to be 1hr 23 minutes of NAMM on psilocybin.

It also has Fishman pickups installed.

I'm a mediocre acoustic guy and have been wanting a classical for a while. Also figured my wife would have an easier time learning on it. Is this a decent deal? I had a hard time finding an equivalent online.

From what I can tell:

  • New World Guitar Co.
  • Studio Series
  • 650mm-s
  • year 2010

$650 seems like a really good deal to me.

This guy! Baroness and the Juniors gave me a set of GraphTech Ratio tuners for the Epi 335 for Father's Day. Finally had a moment to install them. I didn't see the numbering on them until I was almost done installing them. So I had to look up the manual to see where they're supposed to go. They were all in the wrong spot.

I hadn't seen anything about this anywhere. Looks like it's the Bogner Electronics ST-Pro. A pre-wired pick-guard with a set of programmable pickups, selector, and volume/tone/mode knobs. My opinion was the Strat and Les Paul modes sounded closer to their respective originals than did the Tele or hollowbody modes.

For the first time in its nearly 80-year history, Fender is introducing a signature bass and signature guitar for the same band, released simultaneously.

The Limited Edition Mark Speer Stratocaster and the Limited Edition Laura Lee Jazz Bass deliver distinctive tone and style inspired by Khruangbin’s genre-defying sound.

I have after a HSS super strat for some time and then this came up on reverb. Locking tuners, roasted maple neck that's just gorgeous, rolled fingerboard edges, seymour Duncan pickups, gotoh 510 bridge, low friction volume pot.

This this really rocks. Super comfortable to play, great high fret access, pickups sound great for what I want it for - an Eb EVH guitar.

I need to change the strings and polish the frets a little bit that's all.

On Saturday, May 17th, Josh Scott sent an email to the JHS head engineer asking for the Box It Later schematic for the NOTADÜMBLË. Confused, the engineer responded, "That's not what it is..." Chaos ensued and we realized we made a HUGE oversight. Here, Josh tells the story of all the events that lead to this moment, and what we're doing in light of this discovery.

Thanks for all your support and for hanging with us through this! If you purchased the NOTADÜMBLË, you need to watch this video. All details for contacting us and the future of the NOTADÜMBLË can be found in this video!

Hi /c/guitars,

I'm a bassist (there's not really a good community for bassists on Lemmy yet), and something I've been wanting to do for a while now is do an acoustic-y jam at a public park with friends.

The problem is, most cities draw the line at amplification. It's a bit annoying because an unamplified drum set can be crazy loud and that's okay, but a slightly amplified bass will get you in trouble.

The way I think of it, I have 3 options

(1) Unamplified acoustic bass. The problem is, these are just not that loud.
(2) Secretly amplified acoustic bass? Hear me out. I was thinking if I got a small battery powered amp, and hid it in a backpack, and only had it slightly on, it might not get noticed. I would only need a slight boost.
(3) Get a really cheap double bass? I've always wanted a double bass, but those things are crazy expensive. There are technically ones for like $1k or under, but everyone says to stay away because they are pieces of crap. Maybe that's what I'm looking for though? I don't think I'd want to bring a nice $6000 upright bass to a public park...

Anyway, just curious what thoughts anyone has, especially anyone who has done this before in a big city.

Hi all,

My dad asked me to sell his Fender Stratocaster from the seventies (see id on the backplate, it's 519714). Having no clue on what could be the reference price guide, I wanted to get your advice on this. As far as I know, the guitar had no modifications and is all genuine, and overall in very good condition as you can see in the pics (given its age).

I live in europe and contacted a pro dealer here who seemed to be specialized in vintage guitars, but I'd like to have multiple references to better grasp the value of this guitar. Would you have any suggestion or references on this ? Thanks in advance.

Here are some other pics :

I was browsing Craigslist late last night when I came across this Danelectro 56 U-3 reissue from the 90s. It was a pretty good deal with a hard case thrown in so I felt the need to jump on it. She’s in terrific condition with the person I bought it from being the original owner. 3 lipstick pickups, aluminum nut, gotoh tuners, slim neck, and no dings. I can’t wait to plug her in later tonight!

My daddario cable just started wigging out and this is like the 5th cable ive been though in 7 years. I'm hard on my gear in general. What cables should I order next in particular?

Hi guitar home players,

I'm looking for a setup to play at home with high quality sound and feel.

I first went with home monitoring (adam A8H) + amp sims on computer. The sound tone can be right for bedroom level playing but the feeling is not as good as I would.

I miss the fender headroom on my real hotrod and the crazy harmonics and feedback loop on a real high gain amp.

I would like advice from people who have bought or tested more than I.

1/Is kemper, neural dsp and other expensive produxt deliver more feeling than let say the TwoNotes Genome which is free to test ?

2/What about having real amps + loadbox? Is that better than amp sims for bedroom level or worse? From recordings on youtube it's sometimes hard to tell but youtubers are just sellers nowadays...

3/What about having a larger speaker cabinet like a 2x12 for bedroom sound level at home. I expect the feeling could be different than the stereo 8" well positionned at ear height I have. Worse or better if anyone has both setups?

My dream acoustic. Made with a AAAA grade German spruce top (very tight-grained, cream color which should darken nicely over time), and a unique AAAA grade, flamed kihada back and sides. Kihada comes from the Amur cork tree, an indigenous hardwood in Japan. It is very rarely found flamed like this. Mahogany neck, spoke-shaved by hand in a soft-V to C shape with satin finish. Simple and elegant appointments in a very Japanese minimalist style. Forward-shifted x bracing, and it is all hand crafted in the Yairi workshop located in the city of Kani, in the Gifu prefecture, Japan. Yairi guitars, for those who know them, are remarkable instruments. Enjoy the pics. This was one of twelve (12) created in this configuration.

“I’ve since discovered that I have an autoimmune disease,” Setzer writes on social media. “I cannot play guitar. There is no pain, but it feels like I am wearing a pair of gloves when I try to play.”
