Like I know this isn't a shock to anyone. But it's a super surprise to me. So since 2011 I was really busy with various educational or work stuff, and never had time to log in. When I did log in to post something random for family to see, I had that Fluffbusters extension that cuts out the extra shit that Meta adds to your feed.

So recently I was forced to use the FB app to do some IRL stuff related to Palestine. Holy shit the unfiltered site is garbage. You have to scroll through 10 or so unrelated pages to see your friends' posts. And the sheer volume of paid Israeli stuff is mind blowing, despite me trying to tell the algorithm that I don't like it. And despite me being friends with and liking shitloads of ML stuff, I keep getting Unilad level "let's save a bunch of puppies" content. Like I get why people who use traditional social media become liberals or worse, I even found myself becoming a bit more lib looking at it.

I know it's the internet, and fucking discord to boot, like seriously where is our burning Clive? But I'm not gonna go outside to yell at people about weird books, so unless any of you knows of an awesome book club near me or a forum online or something, we're stuck with this. And yes, it's the book servers again.

I must say that the process of resurrecting Lenin has been a big ordeal. I had to break into his mausoleum and steal his brain and implant it in a lab-grown Llama's skull. They also figure that The Social Network took home some Oscars, so what the hell... Now they've hired you to write and direct a movie about Reddit and the average Redditor. What is the story about? Who's in it? How do you depict the cursed site?

I made the mistake of drinking a bunch of moscato before bed last night (it was delicious!) and then going to sleep. All was well until the nightmares started. I dreamed that my landlord had gone through my room and my internet history, judging everything I did, and all of my friends were agreeing with him. I dreamed that the move-out date had changed to be much earlier and all my roommates were moving out. I was going to be evicted. I started screaming at my landlord about how the fuck they got into all my things, started thinking that this couldn't be happening, and eventually convinced myself that it couldn't. I woke myself up through sheer force of will. Trying to go to sleep after that was just going through a list of all of my anxieties over and over.

Fuck landlords and fuck the surveillance state, hope none of you comrades have a nightmare this bad.

Can’t stop thinking about this one particular incident, but I’m sure there were worse that I’ve forgotten about. Let me explain

Several years ago, I was in a packed classroom of like 100 something students. Mostly female, some male. Anyway, the older professor made some reference to either Jerry Lewis or Jerry Lee Lewis, and said we probably don’t understand because we’re too young (it was a freshman class). Then he asked if anyone has heard of him.

I was the only one who raised my hand, thinking Jerry (Lee) Lewis was Richard Lewis from Curb Your Enthusiasm, which I have watched.

Immediately I started doubting myself because I wonder why his fame and influence was never referenced in the show, if he’s seemingly so important. I didn’t feel like a fraud because my confusion was honest, but I feel like other people thought I was a fraud or kiss ass. Sitting all the way in the front didn’t help either.

Or course, no one remembers except me. But I have a habit of misremembering things then saying I have done xyz or heard abc before when in reality we’re thinking of two different things.

Im one of those dumbasses who enjoys being a plumber. I like being the fix it guy. I take pride in being one of the ones who comes to fix it when you cant, or wont. Lot of times it puts me in places like this. The left side of the photo is my ingress/egress. Im about 10-12’ inside at this point. Tunnel continues straight behind me about 6’, then hangs a Louie, and dead ends about 12’ past the direction change. This is how you move water/drain and gas lines when some rich asshole wants to move the sink and cooktop from a wall to the middle of the kitchen because island sinks/cooktops are in fashion here.

Tunnel work makes me leery, and ive been doing this for a couple decades now. Its one of the few things where safety guidelines and best practices are wadded up and thrown out the door. You arent getting a trench box under a slab, stepping/sloping a tunnel would take such wide steps that you would compromise the slab due to undermining so much dirt. This is a relatively short one, not that length of tunnel really matters as i still probably wouldnt make it out if something went tits up. Ive done maybe 1200 tunnel jobs, and after every single job im grateful i come out again. And i dont even have the hard job. The real hard job is the poor bastards who come dig the tunnels i need dug so rich assholes can have island sinks. The company i call for my tunneling has had two guys die in tunnel collapse two years ago.

I should learn to code instead. Code cant collapse and kill you in an instant.
