  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world

Hello everyone,

As we moved here, I was thinking to recreate the regular threads using https://schedule.lemmings.world/

The ones we had on Lemm.ee were

  • Music Monday - What have you been listening to?
  • Cheerful Tuesday - What made you smile or laugh?
  • Hobbies Wednesday - What have you been doing?
  • Thursday - How is your week going?
  • Friday - What are your plans for the week-end?
  • Saturday - What have you watched this week?
  • Pets Sunday

First of all, do you have any ideas of other weekly threads that we could have?

Second, I am looking for other people to "own" the weekly threads, this community is your as well, after all!

@southsamurai@sh.itjust.works offered to handle the Sunday one, would any of you be interested in posting any of the other ones?

You can just use https://schedule.lemmings.world/ to schedule the post with a weekly recurrence.

hey everyone. i'll cut to the chase:

be careful of users like https://lemmy.world/u/Sadbunny3. we met 18 days ago and privately messaged each other a few days before exchanging contact information. i thought her speaking style was "odd" but not off. conversations flowed logically, past texts were referenced and thread replied to.. everything seemed rather genuine. this person appealed to me as somebody wanting a friend. we shared interests and then our personal lives. over the next few days i was told that this person wanted to help me out of my financial predicament that i confessed i was in.

i pushed back. i brought up how i felt uncomfortable, how i was disbelieving in their kindness, and they reassured me every step of the way that there are good people out there and sometimes good things do happen. they agreed with me that there are tons of bad actors out there, but they wanted to convey their seriousness to me, and that they weren't pulling my leg.

it took me another day or so to be willing to have them walk the walk. they asked how much my expenses were and started adding up totals. again, i called attention to the fact this was very, very strange. i didn't understand why somebody who knew so little of me valued me so much. in a way, i wanted to believe this was possible. i wanted to believe that maybe, just maybe, a new friend was that generous.

lol

lmao

guys

no

as they were setting things up today they told me they were going to ask their accountant to wire me money (this was supposedly a therapist which explained their gaps in responses). i said ok thinking still that this was not going to happen. then, they informed me they had to send a check and blah blahFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK...noooo i'm so dumb godddddd!!!!! i said nahhh, not comfortable giving out my address. then they hit me with a "ohhh it'll be an email that is quick, easy, and convenient!" y'know, the way people talk to each other?

18 days. they pursued me for two weeks. i called them out and dialed their number until they answered. silence on the other end; not a single sound other than breathing. i blocked them and came to Lemmy to see if they were trying to message me or others. nope! and guess what? they stopped making public posts 18 days ago. they got me. they didn't need the account anymore.

i was floored. i have avoided many, many scams online. i ultimately prevented my first but it got uncomfortably far. i trusted someone i shouldn't have when there were red flags early. however, i didn't know those were red flags now in 2025. somebody not having the most fluid way of texting can be explained, but now i have to consider that a tell if things don't add up. idk just make sure you are being more skeptical nowadays, please. don't get scammed like i almost did.

Hey @cm0002@piefed.world if that works. I never got a reply and what you pasted before is unreadable by me even if I go to like 200% as the image does not get large, just the text, on the web so I have no idea what is there. I could only move forward with no communication from whatever your doing or from the mod who removed the devils panties comic because they did not like that it was about her going to a protest which is why I moved to posting to another community.

It doesn't take that much work, and it helps keep the place clean.

Pretry sure it was a Nintendo DS/3DS or something like that. I never actually had a game console until recently. I now have a Nintendo Switch 2 (never got the v1, so might as well get the v2 since its released).

But I don't have friends so I guess I'm just gonna play with randoms online... 🤷‍♂️

The Zelda Games are kinda fun, still not finished with them yet.

In school, I overhear conversations about their Wii's, thei Xbox'es, their Playstations, and kids be like "Ooh I just got the latest one", and basically the entire socialization was revolving video games, and some were PC gamers but they had an actual gaming rig, not some potato laptop like I had.

So I realize that most of my childhood, I may have been basically been sort of socially ostricized because I don't know about what the kids were doing, so I didn't fit in.

And on top of that, maybe my introverted personality just make people not like me even more.

And I think one of the biggest problems was I spend the first like 5 years of my life in the United States (I arrived in the US on an immigration visa when I was a kid as part of my family) basically trying to readjust my brain to learning English so that few years of not speaking the language was probably enough to erode my self esteem and thus spiral into the mess I am right now.

I wonder if this chain of events is why I have depression.

Now every time I hold my Switch 2, I remember the childhood that other's got to enjoy but I never had. Kinda make me wanna cry.

Did y'all have games growing up. (Like actual games, not pay-to-win games running on a potato)

Apparently from what I've read, the meteor showers will be on from mid July through to mid August, I'm wondering if anyone knows if it will be visible in the UK and if anyone has any luck seeing them?

My gf and I are back from travelling. We were thinking about going out, but then I started raining... Then it stopped raining, but we still didn't feel like going out.

So it's just a chill evening at home for us. Those are good too!

I started off with DND 5E and still enjoy it, but I started playing Pathfinder 2E a few months ago and just adore it. I think it's a better system overall and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys TTRPGs. It's complicated, probably more so than DND, but it's worth it imo. The three-action economy, four degrees of success, and sheer amount of character customization are my favorite features.

I've played a pretty broad variety of characters. Mechanically, my favorite was my first ever character--a draconic sorcerer. I like blowing stuff up, what can I say. Roleplay-wise, it's a tie between my swashbuckler rogue and my celestial warlock. All of those were in DND, since I haven't been playing PF for very long. I've liked every character I've played, but I tend to enjoy characters with high CHA the most.

Right now, I'm playing a DND campaign and two PF campaigns. My characters are a grave domain cleric, a barbarian with the titan wrestler archetype, and a champion with the sorcerer archetype.

I've also played a little Dungeon World and a tiny one-shot called (iirc) The Witch Is Dead. One of my DMs is getting into Daggerheart, so I may be picking up a game in that system soon. I think I may play a rogue.

Tell me about your TTRPG experiences!

Any Friday/weekend plans? None for me as usual. Anything anyone wants to talk about, no matter how mundane you think it might be I’d enjoy chatting with you.

You just get the idea you need to be in the wilderness (whatever is local - hot, cold, dry, wet, etc). You can pick anything up you want on the way out, but you can't stop walking out the door.

How long do you reckon you would make it living off the land? Any special circumstances or tools that would have helped?
