Bronx origin stories as First Ladies of Hip Hop begins. Plus, Strictly turns up the heat in movie week. Here’s what to watch this evening

“I set the standard” says MC Sha-Rock. “And not just as a female MC but as an MC full stop.” This jubilant history of the under-celebrated women of hip-hop starts in the Bronx in the 1970s. It’s an act of retrieval, giving props to the likes of MC Debbie D, self-described “Alpha Females” the Mercedes Ladies and the woman behind the Sugarhill Gang, Sylvia Robinson. Neneh Cherry – who will surely enter the story herself later in the series – narrates. Phil Harrison

"The series had been sitting in the ITV vaults though mis-catalogued for decades, but through the identification programme we were able to make this remarkable find.

"We flagged it to our colleagues in streaming, had the film cleaned and restored from the 16mm telerecordings and then finally made available to our viewers for the first time since the original broadcasts."

All six half-hour shows are available to watch now via ITVX Premium.

“Now that the strikes is over, are you gonna to start writing Good Omens Season 3?” a user on the social media platform Bluesky asked Gaiman, to which he replied: “Yes.”

“Has it been renewed for a Season 3?” another user asked, to which he responded “No, but I’ve been hired to write one.”

Another follower said the announcement was “wonderful news” and asked if John Finnemore or other writers would also be involved, to which Gaiman said, “Right now just me.”

The update comes after Gaiman previously said on his Tumblr account that a third season was “all planned and plotted” but that the show wouldn’t get renewed for it “unless enough people watch Season 2 to make Amazon happy.”

“If I get to make it, will take the story and the people in it we care about to a satisfying end,” he added at the time. “If I wasn’t on strike I’d be writing it currently. Our set is still standing in a studio in Bathgate and we would all love to get back there and finish the story in the way Terry [Pratchett] and I plotted, long ago.”

In a separate post, he revealed that a first draft of Episode 1 and the final fifteen pages of Episode 6 were written prior to the WGA strike.

“If we shot it in 2024, it would probably be released in early ’26,” he added. “We started shooting S2 in October 2021. It’s about a year in post-production from wrap to release.”

The new season of Brassic will be landing on Sky Max at 10pm on Thursday 28th September.

And if you're wanting to blitz through all the new episodes at once, you'll be pleased to know you can - as all eight episodes of the comedy series will be made available straight away on demand.

Many of the usual cast will be returning for the fifth season, and some brand new faces will also join the Brassic season 5 fun, such as Bhavna Limbachia as Meena and Camille Cottin as Fiona Frank.

Of course, there's a major absence in season 5, as Damien Molony announced he was leaving the show last year. He was part of the series's main cast since it began in 2019 - but after the shock ending of season 4, Molony won't be returning as Vinnie's best friend Dylan.

A flying saucer seen by a guest house, a 7ft alien-like figure coming out of a hedge and a "cigar-shaped" UFO near a school yard.

These are just some of the 450 reported extraterrestrial encounters from one of the UK's largest mass sightings in a remote Welsh village.

The village of Broad Haven has since been described as the "Bermuda Triangle" of mysterious craft sightings and sightings of strange beings.

Residents who reported these encounters across a single year in the late seventies have now told their story to the new Netflix documentary series 'Encounters', made by Steven Spielberg's production company.

It all happened back in 1977, when the Cold War was at its height and Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind - Spielberg's first science fiction blockbuster - dominated the box office.

There was a heightened awareness of things from out of this world - and the west Wales village made international headlines when 16 schoolchildren claimed to witness a UFO in the Pembrokeshire sky.

Speaking to press ahead of the launch of Ghosts season 5, co-creator and star Mathew Baynton said: "It's fair to say there's a couple of backstories that the audience will have been waiting for.

"There are still some unsolved mysteries and this is the final series – and we wouldn't leave our audience with those unanswered questions."

Willbond later confirmed that The Captain's story is one such arc that will see some long-awaited resolution.

Writing in his forthcoming memoir TV: Big Adventures on the Small Screen, a follow-up to his best-selling 2007 autobiography The Sound of Laughter, Kay said that he could imagine bringing back Potter for a feature film.

“I still write down ideas. I had an idea only today of Brian getting Young Kenny to paint an enormous letter ‘H’ on the roof of the club so he can advertise they’ve got a helicopter pad,” writes Kay, according to extracts published by The Sun.

“The chance of a helicopter ever landing is, of course, zero,” he goes on. “As the years pass, I’m becoming more like Brian, but if Phoenix Nights rose again it’d have to be for something very special, maybe a film? Perhaps Brian could get visited by three ghosts. Now, wouldn’t that be an idea?
