When I opened this review for a game called Hundreds of Horses, I expected to have a good laugh about an awful game. The first two sentences:

It’s like a less-complicated Dixit. And all horses.

However, the author is actually fairly positive! It's clearly not a "hobby game" and not meant for hobby gamers, but it works and can be fun. What other games fall into this category? I'll nominate:

  • Happy Salmon. What's more fun than high fiving and running around a table?
  • Spot It: Reverse spot the differences. Pure reflex game that can be explained in ten seconds
  • Time's Up!: Describe something, describe it in one word, and charades. Practically always a hit

John Clowdus and Small Box Games is one of my favorite "indie" publishers on Kickstarter. Neolithic is one of my top 5 two player games, and there are just so many great designs.

This Kickstarter is both an interesting design in it's own right, as well as an opportunity to grab some of his back catalog. It's never available at retail, so I'd recommend taking a look!

With the question for smaller solo games already posted I want to ask if any of you got some large and deep solo games. I'm usually someone who does enjoy longer, bigger and deeper games (not saying small games can't be deep). But when things get more involved and complex, that's where I feel at home.

Any recommendations?

Yet another one of those videogame to boardgame adaptations.

I usually sleeve cards with dragon shield clear matte but I'm looking to sleeve some mini-cards for Nemesis. So I wanted to know which brand you all use to help me decide.

It can happen to anyone: a friend of a friend joins for the evening and suddenly Catan is not an option.

What are your goto games in those situations?

I’ve been playing a number of solo games lately as my usual group seems to be doomed to never have aligned schedules these days. I’m currently in love with Arkham Horror LCG and the Wingspan Automata, but I also enjoy smaller games like Totem (solo mode) and One Deck Dungeon. What small-medium sized solo games do y’all enjoy?

The original game is from 2013 and is by the same designer as Azul

Just a cash grab or do these really actually bring something interesting to the table?

How did it go? Any recommendations?

People who have played this, what are your thoughts? I love the idea of 1vs many & hidden movement

Castles of Burgundy is simply amazing and still holds up to modern games. Anyone has the new edition? Is it worth the prize? I am happy with the 20th anniversary edition

This genre seems to be fairly popular, and I can see why. Instead of just building a deck for the sake of building it (like in Dominion), adding a racing element makes the game more interactive, tense, and tangible. I've only played a few, and I'm interested in how Heat compares to for example.

I really enjoy Clank! and The Quest for El Dorado. I'd say Quest is the better game. It's cleaner, has fewer rules, and more variety in terms of maps. However, Clank! can be more fun. All the weird cards, the fights, drawing from the Dragon bag, and trying to get out alive make it a more lively (but also more random) game.

I would be curious about your favorite coop games. I often find them a big lacking, often being a bit unbalanced. An example is Battle for Hogwarts, where one game can be a walk in the park and another absolutely impossible and rarely is there a balanced match.

Considering the still limited size an aggregate daily recommendations thread is probably overkill if not counterproductive.

But maybe some regular prompts like "what did you play last week?" could be fun...

The computer game is great and the dev team exemplary when it comes to support and updates- do you think it will translate well into a boardgame?

Now that the Kickstarter campaign is over, I can't wait for the release and my copy. I'm very excited to see how it plays and am really looking forward to the first round with my friends! Did anyone of you also back the campaign?

The weather is improving and we would love to combine boardgaming and spending time outside. Azul works very well outside, not so many things can fly away. Any other recommendations?

While Everdell already has a nice table presence, simple addons can add a little more. These lotus flowers are super easy to make: https://origami.guide/origami-flowers/origami-lotus-flower/1

The event cards a held up by acorns filled with epoxy and covered with some wood lacquer. These are sadly a bit wobbly and due to the size of the saw used, the slit a bit too big.

Yesterday I played three scenarios of Undaunted: Normandy with my teenage son. For both of us it was the first time playing the game. And, different to several other games, my son seemed to have fun for real - not only to shut ME up.

The game is really easy to learn, the system feels quite elegant, if also pretty luck-of-the-draw-based. But yeah, that was enjoyable.

Which games did you play over the weekend? What yould you recommend for a 15yo typical teenager offspring?

I just recieved my copy of Mint Imperium and we tried our first duel. The game is rather complex and the manual is sadly not sufficient to explain how to play the game. Its still fun to plan your mission but in this game my hidden base was revealed in turn three. So it was a bit short. Whats your experience with it?
