Avelon App

I think it would be a useful addition for customisation.

For example, the margin could be set as such that it appears as a single line separator between posts/comments.

I just posted this link to a PeerTube video, but the video playback failed. Is PeerTube generally not supported?
Any suggestions which video hoster I should use for Lemmy and Avelon?

The official Lemmy Web-UI has a feature to cross-post posts to other communities. I think this feature is important especially for small communities, with niche topics.
An critic that I often read about Lemmy is that new Lemmy users miss their small communities.
So, adding the cross-post feature could bring an healthy growth to this communities.

Hi! Love using the app. I am right handed and scroll with my thumb. Is it possible to move or hide the ellipse button or at least make it so that it doesn’t do anything unless you’ve pressed it for maybe 500ms? I find myself always clicking on it as I scroll and it is super sensitive I don’t know sometimes if I’ve saved, hid, or what to the post even though I didn’t intend to, I was just scrolling.

Basically the title. Currently groups’ sorting is set to active by default. It would be nice to be able to set a default sorting when you create a group.

Other than that I’m really loving the update!

I was so excited to try this but it’s just showing a dark screen when you swipe forward. Everything else working beautifully though as far as I can tell.

Currently using Avelon 1.06 and I must say the QoL improvements plus the themes. Very very close to Apollo now in my opinion.

As one of the first users of Avelon, I must say, you have come a long way. Good job!

This app is amazing. So many great features! I’m missing one thing though, some sort options are missing under “top”. Especially 6 hours is really necessary, as that’s basically the best sorting reminiscing of Reddits “hot” that’s available on Lemmy!

If I set “show read posts” in Lemmy UI and “hide read posts in Avelon”, then only recent unread posts are shown in feed and when trying to scroll down, a message appears with “failed to load more posts. Retry?”.

If I unset show read posts in Lemmy UI and keep hide read posts in Avelon, then all is fine and even x months old posts are loaded.

I really like getting stuff I’ve read out of my feed, but do new comments cause those items to come back in as unread? without that I’m not sure how useful this is.

Some settings are lost when killing the application, for example default sorting options.

I noticed that if I set to not hide posts in communities, this setting is ignored and posts are still hidden.

Also the default sorting keeps sometimes reverting, and after some time they even revert instantly after going away from the menu, basically disabling the functionality altogether.

When composing a reply to a post, the text box scrolls naturally with the text as it is being typed until I start a second paragraph. At that point, the text box scrolls back to the beginning of the reply. When I am physically typing, it momentarily scrolls back down but then immediately goes back to the beginning. It makes it impossible to read what I am typing.

I use a larger font, so this might be an accessibility issue, or it might be related to a couple of refresh-type issues I’ve seen in other areas of the app.

I have an iPhone 13 running iOS 17, but this was present in iOS 16 as well.

Not everyone wants to defederate with trolls, which is fine. But I’d like to hide posts and comments from instances that never seem to make Lemmy a nicer place.

For instance, it would be cool to configure Avalon such that any comment by a user from hexbear be hidden until tapped. (And I’d probably never tap it.)

This may be an odd request but as it stands now there are at least two ways to upvote/downvote a post, either clicking the arrow buttons on the left side of the post or the big rounded buttons on the right side too.

I think for a very minimal, clean and simple look if you could add an option to remove/hide the big rounded upvote buttons. I normally tap the little small arrow on the left so the big rounded buttons take up space.

Please let me know if this is already being worked on or if it’s something you might consider to add in the future I’d greatly appreciate it.

When viewing any feed or a single post, if I do a quick scroll up from further down the feed/post and my scrolling action hits the top, this will trigger a refresh even when I hadn’t intended on doing that. Normally I’d expect a refresh to only occur if I was already at the top of the page and did a pull-down from the top.

It's about time to get some custom icons for Avelon, so I'm hosting this chill little competition to pick the very first one!

Loving the swipe right anywhere to go back function - it’s super smooth. But sometimes I swipe back to check something but have no way of going back to the thread I was reading without losing my place. Would love for this function to be implemented if it’s possible!
