My phone screen broke but everything else works fine except for the fact that I can't see what's happening on my phone, I was able to install an app which mirrors my phone and thus control my phone indirectly, but I was wondering if there was a way I could do basic functions like reading texts without seeing the screen. I mean, I am also curious what do people with visual disabilities use? Are there any apps like VoiceOver which help you read texts?

Lately I've been tasked to find an Android tablet for my parents since the old Pixel C I gave them a few years back is officially dead. My first suggestion is of course an iPad but they tried mine and didn't really like how the OS works.

They mainly use the device for YouTube, and asked if it's possible to have a tablet with video output capability, since when they travel they like to watch the shows they downloaded, and it's a hassle to bring a laptop every time.

Currently I think Xiaomi pad 6 seems to be a good choice, but I'm open to any suggestions.

I own a condo and have one dog and one cat. They get along and play all the time, but I feel like the cat is often lonely and missing a cuddling companion. He's a rescue who was a street cat for years before I adopted him. I've been considering fostering or adopting another cat to give him company. Thoughts?

I was just thinking about my password manager and use of 2FA. If I lost my phone or what if I get in some accident and have amnesia and cannot remember my master password. What would I do?

Any thoughts on solutions to the problem of losing your phone or some emergency medical condition?

I’ve been using the default Apple Weather app since getting my iPhone earlier this year. It’s been fine but over the last few days it seems to be less accurate in general.

So I got my first ever Swiss Army Knife 2 months ago. It's a Victorinox Huntsman with 14 tools (the one with the saw). I have not used it extensively yet, but I wipe it clean every time I use it.

I'm not aware of when and how often I should oil the moving parts and things like that. I would like to keep this knife in working condition for as long as I can.

So I have lived in Spain now for almost 10 years and I will be applying for citizenship soon. As part of this process I can pretty much chose my Spanish name. Or I can keep my polish name.

The problem is that my name is very polish, like Grzegorz Filipowski. Every time someone has to write it down and look me up in a database I have to show them my ID. When it happens over the phone I have to spell it. Every time I meet someone they ask me what's my name is and then repeatedly try to pronounce it while I say 'yeah... close enough'. It's pretty annoying and it would be solved by simply changing my name to something Spanish like Gregorio González or something.

What do you think? Would you see it as a practical thing to do or as a stupid intent at impersonating a real Spaniard?

It's tiring: for example I find season 3 that covers years 2003 to 2006 and season 4 including episodes from years 2004 to 2008. Sometimes there are 'spaces' of several months within the same season (episode 3 was released in May 2012 and the next one, miraculously, in December 2012). Why don't they package episodes following the logic order of years?

After repeated data breaches that no company really seems to give a s--- about my phone is blowing up with literally hundreds of spam calls and texts month. I get and make MAAAAYBE 2 or 3 important calls per month, 180-200 of the rest are literally all spam. Anyone have any suggestions, apps ect that they have found refuge with? I really don't use SMS that much either, mostly it's via signal, discord whats app, ect...

Just to put it out there I run CalyxOS on a Pixel 5a.

Dearest lemmings, I have a prelit Costco tree that changes from warm white to color and several of the lights are out but I cannot for my life find a replacement anywhere. I called Costco/Polygroup (company that made the tree) and they don't sell replacement led light bulbs but they gave me these specs: LED dual color 3mm Green Base 20MA 1.8-2.4V or 2.8-3.6V. I tried buying a set of lights at Home Depot but they did not fit and my google-fu is failing me.

My current fave is Ted Lasso

So far, the cheapest I found was a little over $40 for about 30 cards.
