I always have music in my head and I was wondering if other people have something similar.

Hi Lemmy,

I'm organising a funeral, and one of the ideas that has come up is for people to write memories on a balloon and let them go. However, I've also heard that they often end up in trees etc and are terrible for the environment.

Is there such a thing as environmentally safe balloons? Other suggestions are also welcome.

for those who don't know, Thom York is the lead singer of Radiohead.

edit: ok, I’m SOOO glad its not just me. apparently, Thom York is not unique in his appearance. it would seem that a lot of people vaguely look like him.

Rules:

*You can teleport into and out of it at will

*It has a couple of plug sockets and can connect to internet from the region you teleported in from

*You can take objects and people with you

*As already stated, it is (3m)^3 (3m*3m*3m). The walls are plain plaster with a light in the middle of the ceiling. The pocket dimension is topologically toroidal, so if there weren't walls and a ceiling/floor (which you can actually destroy) you would loop if you went more than 3m in any direction. Gravity, then, is artificial and can be altered to anywhere from 0 to 2g from a dial on the wall.

Edit: additional specifications

*You can only teleport out to where you teleported in from.

*Time proceeds at the same rate inside the pocket dimension

*There is an eject button for those inside to get out if something happens to you

Someone said Jaden Smith had a punchable face, wgich is true. So who else do you think qualifies? (Only face is to be considered not their actions or who they are)

Does anyone have knowledge and or experience with forming a union in the US? After doing some mild research I failed to find a union that represents telework / work from home employees, specifically those who are facing return to office mandates from their corporate overlords.

Does anyone else text someone else in your own home if they are in another room? Am I just too lazy to go talk to them? Are you like me?

If there were no other options between those two apps for lemmy, which one would be your go to?

Problem: I'm being driven mad by voices speaking to me thru white noise. Need white noise to sleep

Psychiatrist today suggested:

  1. normal human speech has typical rhythm, cadence
  2. fans, white noise audio files are always looped, rhythms in it
  3. brain is hearing those patterns as human voices
  4. I need to introduce staggered rhythms to disrupt

Possibilities:

  1. Willie Nelson, William Shatner speak with atypical cadence. Play at same time as white noise
  2. phone app that vibrates atypically
  3. machine in room that generates atypical rhythms, vibrations

Options, ideas? I'd like not to go further insane

Can you help me find a video of a man who pretends to help a woman with her two bottles of wine, but leaves her in a terrible position? The woman ends up with her hands stuck in a gate, and she can't free them without dropping the bottles.

Thank you!

A few days ago I shared some news that the Eurovision song from Israel would be named "Your land is mine now" to later realize it was from an onion kind of website, lol.

I hope I'm not alone in this kind of f'up.

Without going into too much detail...

  • 21
  • Dropped out of Uni (ie. I've started falling behind 'the pack')
  • Still living with my parents (have lived alone for periods)
  • Frustrated, have been repeating the same mistakes and life is currently going in a loop.
  • Not fully settled on a specific career
  • Thinking of a couple of nuclear options I could try to move things on.

I want to know if I have reason to stress or if I should just give it time and enjoy the ride. Seeing as any sort of renewed degree-pursuing will eat up another several years starting anew from square one.

Edit: Thanks for all of this life advice everyone. It is genuinely really reassuring

Also what is the LPRC? According to this video.

...they are the loss prevention ...I forgot tge rest... republican cabrones?

Basically they want you to go to Walmart for your deodorant and type your phone number to get an unlocking code! Win win right?

They sell you the product and get you to give them your phone number and get you to confirm that it is yours!

They also have another thing where you have to let them take a picture of your face. I'm assuming it's for you to get your white bread securely? What do you think 🤔?

I've been watching Isaac Arthur episodes. In one he proposes that O'Neil cylinders would be potential havens for micro cultures. I tend to think of colony structures more like something created by a central authority.

He also brought up the question of motivations to colonize other star systems. This is where my centralist perspective pushes me into the idea of an AGI run government where redundancy is a critical aspect in everything. Like how do you get around the AI alignment problem, -- redundancy of many systems running in parallel. How do you ensure the survival of sentient life, -- the same type of redundancy.

The idea of colonies as havens for microcultures punches a big hole in my futurist fantasies. I hope there are a few people out here in Lemmy space that like to think about and discuss their ideas on this, or would like to start now.

I find that most people in my life have at least one "thing" they are collecting. It is often an insight into their personality and it is fun to hear people talk about something they are passionate about.

I am trying to create a template in notepad++. Where my fields are hard coded as in I can highlight and delete but my fields stay and the values are erased. I could just copy and paste the template over each time. But I’m lazy as hell. Any ability to remove more button clicks is a win lol
