i have a bunch of .m4a files in one folder, 1000s. can i automate their conversion somehow?

For anyone who knows.

Basically, it seems to me like the technology in mobile GPUs is crazier than desktop/laptop GPUs. Desktop GPUs obviously can do things better graphically, but not by enough that it seems to need to be 100x bigger than a mobile GPU. And top end mobile GPUs actually perform quite admirably when it comes to graphics and power.

So, considering that, why are desktop GPUs so huge and power hungry in comparison to mobile GPUs?

Here is the fallacy I'm describing:

Someone defends their own actions, or someone else's actions, as acceptable/justified or necessary, on the basis that those actions might be necessary or justified in certain circumstances, referencing other individuals or circumstances for which it might be necessary or justified, despite their own circumstances/the circumstances in question not having the same elements that would require it or justify it.

For example, someone defends the actions of someone who murdered another person unnecessarily because they disliked them (e.g.), using the argument that there might be people who need to kill in self-defense or in a survival situation for whom it might be justified, despite that not applying to the situation in question.

I'll attempt to write the form of the fallacy here:

X is justified in Y case.

Someone does X in Z case.

X is justified in Z case because X would be justified in Y case.

It's a fallacy because:

What is true of Y case doesn't necessarily apply to Z case; the elements/circumstances of Y case that would make X justified may not be present in Z case, and therefore even if X is justified in Y case it wouldn't automatically be justified in Z case as a consequence.

I do most daily routines and has good relationship with known persons. But, the dumb feeling pulls me back ( eg: "not creating" new friends , not getting another job/getting out of comfort zone )

What do you "passively" do to overcome this ? Else , what are the active tasks you do?

Bonus points if there's a known onomatopoeia to describe the sound.

My friend is looking for an indoor security camera. He's only going to use it while he's away, which doesn't happen too often. Otherwise, the camera will be in a box.

Are there any good cameras, which also have an iOS app? Can't be self-hosted as he's not that technically savvy and overseas so I can't do it myself lol

There's a good crossover between the best Rugby nations and the best Cricketing nations; I'm assuming this is down to good old fashioned British colonialism?

Which leads me to wonder why Rugby never gained the same level of support in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka as it did in New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Fiji.

I’m thinking of changing careers completely from marketing to psychology. I’ve worked in marketing for 15 years and studied it at university level for 6. I’ve reached the top, mastered it, and I’m ready for a career switch up.

But I’m worried I won’t have what it takes.

To me, studying and applying marketing strategy has always been about working in the ‘grey space’. There is no right or wrong answer - just a best justified and executed one. Like if you want to sell shoes to 15 years olds there are 100 ways to do it.

Will studying psychology be vastly different? I assume it will be more scientifically ‘black and white. Like if a 15 year old presents with symptoms of anxiety, there’s 1 exact way to diagnose her problem and 1 answer I must know to solve it (like math).

I have a very ‘grey space’ brain and way of learning and executing. This is what has made me a brilliant marketer. But will I struggle with a hard science discipline like psychology? Is it even a hard science at all?

I guess in essence I’m asking, can someone who’s been conditioned to think and learn and work in marketing for almost 20 years easily adapt to learning and working in psychology? Or is this apples and oranges?

Will my marketing career compliment psychology or present a learning barrier to it?

I'd also love to hear stories about how it moved you on your first or 100th time listening to it.

I gave my students a take home exam over spring break. (This is normal where I teach) One of the questions was particulary difficult. It came down to a factor of three in the solution. That factor inexplicably appeared with no justification on many of their exams. I intend to have the students I suspect of cheating come to my office to solve the problem on the board. What would you do?

Edit: I gave them the Tuesday before spring break until the Thursday after. I didn't want it to be right before or right after.

When I say normal I mean giving take home exams.

Not talking about less than macro scales so don't get pedantic about some exception. The early days were limited by silicon tech and memory storage, but those don't exist any more. So why is it that game music and pop cultural music have not seemingly cross pollinated? Micro genres? Other?
