Basically all I can think of for Red/Brown are the liberal members of the Boogaloos, Tucker on Ukraine but I'm not up to speed on this potential problematic alliance thst seems class reductionist. What are your takes? Is it because anti-govt leftists will search for allies. Do y'all consider Ancaps as Brownies. The biggest Red/Brown alliance I see is the toilet bowl after taco Tuesday

I lost the plot back when Chomsky broke with tradition and said it was a good thing the US was dropping bombs in support of the Kurds... I stopped following along then, but I don't think even then I understood that conflict.

Is there a good write-up somewhere that outlines the basics of this?

I've found some document from the PKK about "Democratic Confederation" which my anarchist acquaintances really talk up, but I also thought they were ML's?

My handlers are asking me to tell you not to link/tag the comment or post, to prevent accusations of brigading obviously, but there have been a ton that should be added as new taglines for the site.

The one that prompted this post:

I'm fine with interacting with people of different ideologies and cultures, but I feel like the hexbears mostly just want to harass us "tankies".

Huh? Do you mean "liberals"? Hexbears are the ones liberals and leftcoms call "tankies"

From what I can tell, which so far is decidedly little, everyone is calling everyone tankies.

My friend made me install Bumble. I want something that leftists will recognize but that won't immediately scare off liberals (I can fix them)

Does anyone have any cool Lenin quotes for this purpose or something

Vuvuzela is a classic talking point for libs and right wingers alike as a failed socialist state. What's your take on the truth of the situation?

For reference, my take is he is not a particularly great leader and his government has problems with corruption (just as many developed and undeveloped states do) but he is much preferred over whichever leader the U.S would like to install.

In terms of adherence to socialism and good leadership skills, I would say Bolivar was the great, Chavez was good, and Maduro is just about adequate in spite of the sanctions he's faced.

I'm also trying to learn more about the topic, so any resources and differing opinions are of course welcome. I am by no means an expert.

I'm just going around the globe trying to unlock each nations history from scratch and get a nice holistic view. These are my earliest takes on the topic of Venezuela.

Thanks.

I don't personally want to use hexbear (the ML posting annoys me for because I am a different far left ideology lol) but I think I'd probably like an instance that is friendly here and has downvotes (blahaj can't downvote 😞).

I don't really want to go to an anarchist instance if there even is one, since even though I identify with the anarchist tradition, I am a organisationalist which means most online anarchists annoy me too lol, and there aren't enough anarchists that agree with me on the fedi to make it worth having our own instance lmao.

So which instances do youse like?

EDIT: Aight i'll give this instance another go, but also to clarify I asked here because I like a lot of the posters but didn't know if I wanted to see it 24/7? I clearly value your opinion since I asked here and not somewhere else lol, calm down

Because I can't tell whether:

we should just critically support them only for their role in inducing multipolarity and anti-imperialism, a la Russia, due to their shitty domestic politics

or

we must support them further in depth, for their inherently socialist and progressive politics, like Burkina Faso under Sankara, and modern day China.

This is not to say I won't at least give critical support to this nation.

P.S. If you can, could you answer same question about its modern allies, current Mali and Burkina Faso.

There are so many emotes now I have to expect there are really excellent ones that people don't know about and don't get used.

Sharing is for commies. So now's your time to share!

Theres too many of them. I keep seeing them everywhere, even on my local tab. They should make like their lover China and implement a one-bear policy.

Once I asked them to tone down the politics and they all dogpiled me and started commenting "Pissboy! Pissboy!" They wouldn't even attempt to engage me in a rational discussion.

I have never met a more rude and uncivil group of people.

I've been around in various levels of lurking/posting since fullcommunism sent me to the subreddit. I was there :aslan: for the original ppb. State fair posting peaked with that...but it is kinda a shame thats the only state fair post that is remembered.

Anyways, I personally feel the amount of content that revolves around poop = funny is too high. I respect the thought and opinions of many of the people here( many of whom are prolific bodily function joke posters), so I would like to hear some reasons why I'm being a stick in them mud in order to resolve this dissonance. I dislike having this gut reaction of negativity to a popular joke topic here.

Even though we had a little bit of warning about federation, I think we're off to a rocky start. Maybe we should have compiled a list of things we think that may make other people very upset. That way they can quickly get to know what we're about and go hide in a social media bubble if it scares them.

I figure I'd start with a good one. America deserved 9/11. I'm burying the lede a bit with that one. I don't think random acts of violence really accomplish much and I don't think randos, albeit imperial core randos, should die. But this wasn't a random act of violence, was it?

There's a little something called Foucault's Boomerang. Basically it's the tools, means, and experiments carried out by imperial countries tend to make their way back home one way or another. Military gear gets tried out on the battlefield then next thing you know cops at home have the same equipment. It also works for cause and effect. America did 9/11 to itself.

After WWII America courted the monarchy of Saudi Arabia, who had some really "interesting" religious ideas at the time, to ensure a source of oil. Oil was very important to American manufacturing and the war effort. Our domestic reserves helped us get through WWII. We needed more. So the US decided to look the other way on Saudi foreign policy while they ensured us first dibs on the oil. The UK also made deals on building their infrastructure and finance needs, to which the US eventually pushed them of the back rooms where such deals were made. But that's another story.

The US also backed anti-Soviet/anti-Communist groups in the Middle-East as they had in other parts of the world. This meant giving aide and weapons and training to those groups. In exchange they would beat up all the communists and pro-soviet people in their country and keep the borders open for US trade.

Not to "yadda yadda yadda" through a lot of interesting history but the US made a lot of enemies and ruined former alliances in these places because we valued the exploitation of their resources more than the actual relationships formed. Once the Soviets were gone, we could just do what we wanted to them and there was nobody left to oppose us.

So our former (and some current) friends stabbed us in the back. The imperialism boomeranged back home and we got a terrorist attack on US soil.

The people who died didn't particularly deserve it but people die when an imperial power does imperialism. That's part of why it's bad. Imperialism will never benefit the common person, it will only hurt us in the end. You best believe all this funding, weapons, and shit going into Ukraine will come back on us too.

What are some other real-ass takes for our visitors who need disillusioning?

Skip the slop: it’s hard enough to be the single side piece for my other friends, and I don’t think I can mentally take that designation in another relationship. I’m not the closest with this person, so I feel as though I should break the relationship off cleanly but would like to be respectful while doing so. How should I do that?

Slop below

spoilerI have multiple friends (of all different genders) in my life which I am extremely thankful for but who are all partnered. To be quite honest though, I’ve never felt more lonely than hanging out with my partnered friends while tagging along as a single guy and the friendships no longer feel the same. It is always myself asking my friends to hang out and them bringing along their spouses or new partners (which they have the right to do but that doesn’t make it suck any less).

I had originally asked one of my last single friends if she was interested in going to a show with me a few weeks ago-It’s just a breath of fresh air to catch up with someone who is also in your same life position and alleviates the feeling of loneliness that comes with not having a +1 to share shit with. She texts me yesterday and asks if I would like to hang soon again, but then I learn that she is now partnered as well :(

Hexbear was down for a bit there so I already posted this on the trueanon sub, but Hexbear is back up now hooray

I've long held the belief that Trump will never, ever face consequences for any of his myriad crimes. He's too rich, white, wet, and well connected. However, the indictments just keep piling up. People seem to think that he's going to face a minimum 5 year jail sentence here. I can't tell if it's just wishful copium or if Trump might actually be in deep shit.

There's also a lot of talk about this in the reddit-logo r/law subreddit and they're all just munching on their popcorn as the news comes in. Trump's also acting veritably deranged and going on endless public rants with ALL CAPS wall of texts, so he's obviously nervous about all of this.

I dunno, I find it all hard to believe, but the libs are saying things like they're going to name their first born child after the prosecutors in the case.

Doesn't have to already exist, I might be able make it in GIMP myself if it's a really good idea.

My workplace, a library in a red state, might seriously be going on strike soon. The board has been invaded by rightoids and they're floating the idea of introducing a content rating system for the books (its rightoids going after libraries like you've seen) that obviously is in bad faith and will be used to ban LGBT content, left wing theory, etc. We have multiple librarians threatening to quit, and at our morning meeting our director starting talking about a work stoppage. The (open to the public) board meeting is tomorrow night, and if things go bad, its probably strike time. The old lady librarians have actually had enough of right wing bullshit and are ready to risk their incomes, it's actually happening folks.

I'm just looking for general advice on doing this stuff. Like what should I prepare, who if anybody should I contact (for support)? We are not union.

Mine is that the early 2000s fad of being "half-something" in fantasy fiction, usually to get the cool powers but have less or none of the drawbacks, was symptomatic of the salad-bar-like purchasing of identity markers that Francis Fukuyama claimed that people worldwide would happily purchase and mix and match in his "end of history" that ostensibly was to reign over us forevermore. The fad seemed to fade around the time the "end of history" facade crumbled and history clearly began marching on.

I got nothing like evidence to back that up, but having experienced the time, and having argued with dozens of people in fiction and tabletop roleplaying and even LARPing circles about their "half vampire that has no real vampire downsides but all the cool vampire stuff" or their "half demon half angel half dragon half vampire" template stacks in 3.X D&D and so on and so on. Even so-called "Grey" Jedi in the Star Wars Fandom come to mind with the desire to have Dark Side powers but avoid drawbacks and negative labeling (the Jedi Order were space cops that kidnapped and indoctrinated children for a colonial power but that's another issue entirely).

The template stackers, both in freeform storytelling and in dice-driven games, had similar goals to neoliberalism: get ahead, pick up appealing labels, dodge unappealing labels, escape liability, win win win win.

I'm not saying that those people were willing or even knowing ideological adherents to neoliberalism's victory lap, but that the fad of picking as many identity markers as possible in a superficial power-seeking way was like a microcosm of larger societal issues of alienation, isolation, and ultimately unexamined dissatisfaction with worsening material conditions all around us.

A much more recent symptomatic example I can think of regarding a similar phenomenon is cryptocurrency believers thinking they can out-grift the grifts of conventional capitalism and leave all the "wagecucks" behind by holding onto the correct grifting token. Like the above example, it's a fantasy (if a more expensive one with more living consequences) of being powerful in a world that drains us of our power and gives it to the already powerful.

Like I said, weird take, but I do believe it even if I lack proof and can't be bothered to do a dissertation on the topic.

If the Death Penalty doesn't have a profit motive, and is so obviously barbaric, why do political groups and people in America still rally behind it? Surely there's more to it than most Americans just being blood thirsty monsters, right?

Especially if you write essays, articles, or video scripts. I am looking into using the zettelkasten system with Obsidian but figuring out a workflow for that seems confusing, especially for historical research.

I fucking love blizzards with high wind. I bought a bunch of stuff that's graded for the Yukon as an investment ages ago and now during the winter I can take walks, there's no tourists, and it's so calming.

I have painstakingly set up miniflux. Now I just need to subscribe to some feeds to make it useful.

So far I have subscribed to redsails.org, moonofalabama.org.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

What did mid the Marxist perspective on social contract theory? Rousseau, Hobbes and the like. Did marx or any other communists ever comment on this?
