I'm part of leadership of a small community group for our part of town. I am seeking advice on how to smuggle gold-communist principles into a group that is not explicitly communist or anticapitalist but nevertheless is receptive to the concepts.

So far the group is focused on community resiliency in the face of climate change, sustainability, food/skill sharing, social inclusivity (i.e. age, class, LGBT, ethnicity, nationality), and is generally meant to be an alternative to the chud heavy block watch groups on Facebook that just fear monger about teens after dark and property values. The group's politics are not explicitly leftist/anticapitalist but the most active members think naomi klein is great. If it was 2016 I would bet on the group being Bernard brothers. This is a heavily propagandized part of the west so actual political theory is thin on the ground. The membership of the group is likely to grow significantly over time so it is not realistic to put up a hammer and sickle, but nevertheless I want to lay foundational principles that align with anticapitalist/communist values.

For municipal politics reasons, we will open this group up to members from the neighborhood catchment to stake our claim as official reps of this part of town. We are writing our constitution and bylaws now and I want to bake in some antichud deterrents into these documents so it isn't appealing for chuds. In addition I want to frame all our future events and projects with left language, falling short of dictatorship of the proletariat or mao-aggro-shining.

Help me chapo you're my only hope

So my family rent half of an old remodeled home that's been broken into two units by our leech. City recently did some inspections and had a laundry list of things to fix, most of which was directed at the leech but they told us we can't use the three-to-two prong adapters we've been using since we moved here to plug in all of our modern electronics.

The maintenance guy told us they would install gfci outlets and asked how many we wanted, but that never ended up happening. I'm probably gonna try to ask the landlord directly but given our interactions so far I'm not optimistic. So I need a backup plan if he takes the easy route and risks our health and the potential to burn the place down to save a few hundred dollars of the rent I pay him.

Obviously I can just not be using them when the city comes back but in the long run I know it's not safe for my family, but I also can't force the leech to make the place safe for my child. Is there something safer than an adapter we could use once this passes? We can't really give up all of our three pronged electronics and it would still not solve the safety issue if we did.

Things that are so obvious and ingrained that no one even thinks about them.

Here’s a few:

All US americans can go to Mexico EASILY. You’re supposed to have a passport but you don’t even need one (for car/foot crossing). Versus, it’s really hard for Mexicans, who aren’t wealthy, to secure a VISA to enter the US. I’m sure there are corollaries in other geo-regions.

Another one is wealthy countries having access to vaccines far ahead of “poor” countries.

In US, we might pay lip service to equal child-hood education but most of the funding pulls from local taxes so some kids might receive ~$10000 in spending while another receives $2000. I’m not looking it up at the moment, but I’m SURE there are strong racial stratas.

Looking to do odd jobs in person or online; all the articles talk about Taskrabbit or transcription work or other things like that but I haven’t had any luck with those…. Any good ways you all have at making some extra money? Or just suggestions on what to look into? I live in a decent sized city so I’m hoping that would open up some possibilities as well.

I don't mean to unnecessarily gender this discussion. Gender here doesn't matter. But I'm going to use gendered words as they fit the context. I want everyone's opinion.

My dad died from bronchial cancer two days before my 12th birthday. I had to learn how to be a 'man' from my ill mother.

What I want to know is, if you had to import some wisdom to preteen me, about the fundamentals of life, what would it be?

I've barely learned to shave (and prefer a beard anyway). What can you teach me Hexbear?

I'm 32 by the way. I'm just curious.

i’m fairly young (20M) but i’ve been experiencing some hair loss since i’ve been about 16, i’m pretty healthy i just have the genes for it since every man on both sides of my family is bald & maybe some hormonal factors driving it idk. my hair loss rn isn’t THAT bad, my hairline has receded to the point that i definitely have a pennyworth style widow’s peak (the batman tv show) when i lift my hair up and the top in general is much thinner than it used to be but i don’t have any bald spots and you’d have to try to see through to my scalp (probably also helps that i have semi-curly medium-long hair).

anyways, to stop my hair loss from getting any worse, i’ve been taking topical minoxidil finasteride for the past 9ish months (dermatologist recommended it since they said the side effects were worse for the pill form) and honestly it seems like it’s been working, my hairline hasn’t receded anymore and my hair feels much thicker even if it isn’t the same as it was before.

however, the topical minoxidil finasteride gives me the WORSE dark circles around my eyes like i look like a panda or a raccoon. and it’s more than that i look like a zombie, like my face is slightly more pale/grey than the usual white/olive skin color. i recently ran out and couldn’t refill before i went on a family trip and my dark circles were completely gone by the end of the week and my skin in general looked so much healthier.

so i’m stuck wondering what should i do? i can’t get a straight answer out of google so hopefully someone in the comments can help (i should probably schedule another visit with the dermatologist but i just haven’t had the time yet). i want my hair and don’t want to lose it, especially so young, but i hate my eyes and face looking like that and i’m sure i’m harming my body by using it if it’s having that effect, so i’m wondering if there are any other solid options i can do for my hair? anyone else with similar experience that found something that worked for them?

I was planning on going back to school to study data science, but everyone online is making it out like the tech field is dead and people are getting laid off and now you need eight year experience just to get an entry level gig. Worried I missed the boat on being able to get a good job in the field, should I just accept I'm stuck in retail?

I've noticed a lot of posts asking how we're going to vote, and people coming in trying to shame people for not voting for Biden, or any candidate in the general election at all.

So I'm curious and, asking in good faith, want to know - what will make you stop voting for Biden?

i have a question that is hard to google. how does one acquire a band? like i got songs, i got hella songs, and i think that i can sing adequately (i sang in front of my partner and they think that i sound very good :)), i just have no ability to play guitar/bass/drums, let alone at the same time, so where do i find 2-4 people in my area who know how to play instruments and are ideologically compatible with myself??? on top of that, these people would also need to like/enjoy the music that i wanna put out and want to specifically play my songs, which i don't know how big of an ask that is??? any assistance is welcomed.

Firstly please don't tell me that it shouldn't.

With colonized/formerly colonized countries like Palestine, South Africa, Algeria etc it seems pretty straightforward, since indigenous peoples are still large majorities of the population, but much different in America, since the eradication of indigenous people and their societies and cultures has been happening for centuries and now indigenous people only make up 1.3% of the population. Not to mention that the american population is made up of immigrants from around the world besides the descendants of settlers.

Article

I'm doing a research project on evaluating Communist party support in the context of the application of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, relating widespread support for policies with the relevant socialist theory. Anyway, while doing research I stumbled across this usage of K-means clustering to analyze the data and with this application of a data analysis tool, the support for the party, while still high, varies greatly from what is initially suggested from the surveys.

Looking at it I find some of the justifications they use for describing typologies a little fishy. The questions asked are whether or not you trust the CPC on a four point scale with 1 being not at all and 4 being high amounts of trust, with the second question being about support for the one party system using the same scale. In any case they use K Clustering to break these groups into the four possible typologies and cluster the two of the middle groups together under the justification that people can be "ambivalent". However, this feels like unnecessary simplification of the clusters in order to present the "ambivalence" as being more varied than it is. Just because people might have incoherent views on the issue doesn't mean they do and presenting the issue as that feels like it could be "gerrymandering" data. I'm completely open to my speculations and reservations being completely off base, this is very estranged from my major, but I thought I would ask her for some help in understanding it.

You guys are pretty smart sometimes meow-tankie

The part I'm discussing occurs on page 56 where they begin to explain their statistics and methods.
