I've often found it challenging to easily understand the different art movements.

Despite exploring art and history books, Wikipedia, YouTube, and Google Art & Culture, the sequence, significance or blending of these movements remained unclear.

Which came first? Who are the key artists? What are their main works?

Art Timeline is my own attempt to remember these.

I've created this website for myself. I hope it will be useful for your own artistic explorations too.

The rules for the Bulwer Lytton Fiction Contest are childishly simple:

Each entry must consist of a single sentence.

Sentences may be of any length but we strongly recommend that entries not go beyond 50 or 60 words.

Entries must be “original” (as it were) and previously unpublished.

Due to the volume of submissions, if your entry is more than one sentence or is missing a name or location it won't be considered.

Our contest year runs from one summer to the next. All entries submitted by June 30th are eligible for the winners announced that August.

We post the winners in mid August, give or take a natural disaster or mild inconvenience. To receive an announcement email, sign up for our mailing list down there in the footer.

In keeping with the gravitas, high seriousness, and general bignitude of the contest, the grand prize winner will receive … a cheap certificate (and bragging rights).

From https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2024/08/paper-sculptures-patrick-cabral/

Elaborate paper sculptures continue to emerge from Patrick Cabral’s Manila studio, including a roiling cockfight that took more than a year to complete. Stretching six feet wide, the monumental work highlights Cabral’s exquisitely cut motifs, which add texture and depth to the otherwise smooth medium. Layers of lace-like patterns, stripes, and other frills adorn the birds shown pre-fight with wings splayed and claws bared.

The art of political branding on the fly.

As we turn another wild corner in the 2024 election cycle—one in which we suddenly have a new Democratic candidate with little more than 100 days left to get out the vote, I want to shout out some unsung heroes: Harris for President creative team, there’s much work ahead, but so far, you’re doing great! 🙌

Team GB is the external facing brand owned and managed by the British Olympic Association. 100% commercially funded, its primary role is to unite, organise and prepare athletes from all Olympic sports, disciplines, and governing bodies as they compete together under the Union Flag.

Ahead of Paris 2024 and beyond, the BOA were looking to maintain and grow the brand’s profile amongst fans of all ages and backgrounds, strengthen its relationship with sponsors and commercial partners, and make sure it would be fit for today’s modern, digital-first communication landscape.
