I was given a series 3 recently that had been sitting in the lost and found for over a year at my father's place of work. I don't have an iPhone though to set it up with. It is stuck at the screen where I have to pair it with an iPhone. I do have an apple store near me, so I was wondering g if they would let me bring it in and set it up with one of their phones, just to get it started. I realize that after I unpaired it with an iPhone, ill lose functionality, but that is ok. If I end up liking this watch, I might consider getting a used iPhone to replace my Droid. Any thoughts?

Hey there, I recently purchased a used Apple Watch Series 3 but it’s iCloud locked and I can’t get in touch with the original owner. Is there any possible way to remove it so I can use it? Thanks for the help 🙏🏽

I have iPhone 12 pro and iOS 17.1.1. I accidentally was able to get youtube video playing in a small screen over the home screen of iOS. ai was able to move its position and play it over the safari browser also.

How on earth I was able to make it? I have tried many times but no luck, I cant anymore get youtube video in a small screen over everything else. How can I get it back, what is the shortcut? I do not have any paid Youtube subscription etc.

So i currently have the iphone 12 & plan to upgrade to either the 15 or 15 pro. I just want something with a better camera & a battery with less degradation. Im fine with this phones current cameras but would like something better for low light photography. Im not sure if the 15 is a big enough difference in low light performance or if i should just shell out the extra $200 for the pro.

Does anyone else get false heart rate readings where it’s basically double the value of what it should be? I’m assuming it’s an error since I didn’t feel anything and it’s exactly double (also had my heart checked a few months ago and everything was good).

9/10 times I don’t feel the Apple Watch alarm vibrations. However I do use the watch to track my sleep.

Any way to force alarms on my phone instead of my watch?

No visible damage to charging end. Phone is not charging when plugged in to the charger. Is this reversible?

Hey everyone, genuine discussion here as fair as possible, not trying to start a war or anything 😂

So I have been an Android user for more than the last 10 years and have seen all advancements from Android since version 2. I always respected the build quality and hardware of iPhone but iOS was so restricted you could basically do nothing with it.

Lately, both operating systems have hugely evolved and have reached a certain feature parity so I felt it was time for me to give a chance to the Apple side.

So I did it and moved from my last OnePlus Nord 2 phone to the latest iPhone 15 Pro Max. I know these phones belong to different categories but my discussion will concentrate mostly on the OS stuff so it won't matter.

What troubles me is that although iPhone is certainly a nice phone with good build quality, I keep trying to find reasons that would explain and make my switch worthy but on the contrary I constantly find things that annoy me and consider loss of functionality after the switch.

So I wanted to try and give a small summary of my pros and cons as fair as possible and have a discussion around what people think.

Let's start with the cons:

  • my work uses Google Workspace accounts. Apple calendar does not fully support Google calendar syncing. What I mean is that PUSH is not supported to get immediately new events from the server but a fetch is done (by the app) every once in a while to get the updates. What is worse is that by default this is set to happen only when the phone is plugged in and on WiFi, which means that you sync stuff once a day... There is the option to make it more frequent up to 15 minute periods. However, even this makes you miss last minute changes that are not synced to your calendar. So this is definitely a no go for me, leading me to use instead.....the Google Calendar app which has no such limitations.

  • next is the photo sharing with iCloud. You can only share them with people that have Apple devices which is really annoying because my girlfriend does not have one and we used to have a lot shared albums on Google Photos. So again, I ended up using Google Photos on iOS.

  • the keyboard... My native language is Greek. Starting from the fact the for some reason Apple decided that they wanted to change the official qwerty outline of Greek keyboard by removing the final s (ς) from its place, which creates a different key placement that constantly leads to typing errors when you are used to the regular outline. Note that the ipad correctly has the outline, only IPhone doesn't. But more importantly, word correction is a nightmare. If you enter an unknown word, it never learns it and constantly tries to correct it. You have to do the whole process of going into settings and adding a word abbreviation for each unknown word... This is really bad... So I installed swift keyboard which just allows you to tap onto an unknown word and it is added to the dictionary.

  • iOS is missing some nice gimmicks such as showing your palm to the camera to get a selfie which is really more useful than the timer when trying to get a group photo

  • not showing business caller IDs in dialer!!! This is really bad. Most business have their listings on Google and Google Maps. So on Android you directly get their ID when you or they call you. I would expect this from IPhone as well and was really disappointed to see it is not there.

  • Does not support Miracast which is far more widely supported on TVs than AirPlay

  • Siri is quite more restricted compared to Google Assistant

  • Really miss my fast charging where I could charge the phone in 20 mins

  • can't easily share a WiFi password with non apple devices as done with the QR code sharing in Android

  • No actual file system when you connect it to the computer to easily share files with the phone. This was also really useful to be able to quickly use your phone as USB storage

  • No sideloading of apps!!! That was also a hit for me... You cannot have apps like ad blocking YouTube or whatever you want like you could in Android

  • Notifications seem to require more effort to work with VS how they work in Android

Now about the pros:

  • Instant and effortless camera usage

  • it does play really well with other Apple devices with features like Continuity, hand off, sharing etc...

  • iMessage (although not much for me because huge majority of my contacts are on Android). Again I believe Google RCS is getting close.

  • Backup. I really like that when you actually backup the iPhone it also backs up app data meaning that upon restore you can completely resume your work. Only thing needed to set up again is FaceID and apple pay. Android cannot do that natively. However they have started to implement APIs for apps to backup their data on Google so apps that do this have also their data restored during the process. So it's up to the devs to catch up.

  • Video quality on apps. Apps that use the camera and can fully access it's potential is really a big difference compared to Android where due to the fragmentation and no support of each different vendor you get a really bad quality when using the 3rd party apps. There are attempts to unify this under certain APIs in Android as well but it will certainly take a while.

  • FaceTime call quality is stunning. Have never been able to have such good quality calls using any other app whatsoever.

  • I would also say update support but this is not that much anymore with more established brands catching up with this. Apple offers 5 years of updates. Samsung offer 4 major updates and 5 years of patches and Google with the new Pixel 8 years!

So there certainly are some good points according to my experience. However, these are more nice to have things as opposed to functionality loss of the bad points which hurt my user experience.

What's your take on all of the above? And most importantly for those who have switched from Android, what won you over?

I’ve read this should be possible but it isn’t working for me.

Work MacBook Pro (14.1.1) signed in with work account

Home iPhone 12 (17. 1.1) signed in with personal account

Reminders in settings - added work account under settings —> accounts.

From what I understand, this should allow the MacBook to sync its reminders to the cloud and the iPhone to pull them back down but I don’t see anything from the MacBook .

Any ideas? Or is this not possible?

I’m not really too sure if this is the write Reddit to be posting this too.

Anyhow, I ordered 2 phone cases and a screen protector off of Caseify as a Christmas gift for someone, only now I need to cancel my order.

I’m unable to cancel my order now as it’s already been shipped. I’ve recently look up reviews on this website and didn’t realize how sketchy it is and how crap their customer service is.

A lot of people have issues with being unable to get a refund or warranty or just not even being able to get into contact with the customer service whatsoever

I’m just now wondering do I still run the risk of returning the order back to the sender, In risk that I may not even get a refund?

Has anybody else ordered from Caseify then send back the order and received back a full refund?

Will we be ok? 🥹 Had protective glass but was using a cheapo case. Popped out and hit the ground corner first.

The screen replacement cost is too much right now.

Hi, I’ve just upgraded my iPhone. The number is due to port over on Tuesday as I have changed networks. My question is this - If I transfer my data now to the new iPhone, will I still be able to use my current phone until Tuesday or will it wipe all the data from my current phone? Next question - if I do wait til Tuesday to do this, once my number has ported, will I still be able to transfer the contents from phone to phone or will my old sim not work anymore? I’m so confused!

Hello I hope this is allowed since it's about buying an ipad. I'm in the process of purchasing an ipad 10 gen second hand from a guy who got it a month ago without realizing he can't use it for what he wanted. I have a few questions to ask

1 is second hand even an option? Android has a system to prevent second hand phone selling and I don't know whether apple has something similar.

2 is there a way to check if the iPad is stolen through some apple number or something?

3 what to look for to ensure the iPad is in good condition? Battery life ect.

Any tips beyond that would be appreciated. The price is normal for the situation (og in my country 1100lv / $550 sold for 900lv/$450). It has og seller insurance which should usually be a sign of legitimacy since if it breaks it could be covered by the store which it was purchases from. I am not an apple user and have generally no knowledge on apple products outside of battery life and no cracked Spotify so any tips or information would be helpful. Thank you guys very much ☆

Hello! I’m buying used Apple Watch series 7 and the seller told me that the battery health is at 88% (he bought the watch in 2022). Should I buy it or is the battery health too low?

I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and last week my Face ID just stopped working I tried to reset it and got an error msg saying Face ID not available and it’s very inconvenient any advice?

So I can choose any two of the three -

  1. Upgrade to 15 inch (+240 USD)
  2. Upgrade to 512 GB SSD (+240 USD)
  3. Upgrade to 16 GB RAM (+240 USD)

I really like the bigger display of 15 inches as Im not used to smaller screens and the m1 air 13 inch i have just feels too small at times.

But for the performance, is it better to upgrade RAM and SSD of 13 inch rather than switch to 15 and upgrade just RAM or just SSD.

Also upgrading the ssd is cheaper in some cases by 100 usd due to offers but 16GB ram upgrade is always 240 usd which is a lot.

I will mainly use it as my daily machine for college work, coding(data science and ai/ml stuff), little bit of image and video editing, etc.

Any suggestions?
