I tried toothpick, blow dryer, credit card and even a thumbtack! Toothpick seems to come up a lot with solutions but idk if I’m just using cheap toothpicks because they break instantly when putting pressure.

You think Apple Store will have a solution without buying a whole new screen? I really hate this screen protector I have. It leaves a lot of smudges and fingerprints! Super annoyed with this 😒😤

I have atv4k and within the last couple of weeks everything on the Apple TV app looks muddy and horrible. Every other app (Disney, Max, Netflix, Prime, paramount, and peacock) looks great. It’s not my internet and I’ve reset the unit. Anyone else having this problem or have a fix?

It is fairly OK in terms of the compatibility across Apple products - as always for the ecosystem. However, the way it works is totally poor - when the apps is closed (either by user or somehow killed by iOS) the airplay connection drops. In opposite, content played by chromecast seems to sustain individually, regardless of the apps status.

Even I am using iPhone and have an Apple computer at home, a chromecast hardware is installed and more frequently used than Airplay.

Do anyone else experience similar as me?

Looking to get a new laptop and very confused with apples lineup right now, is the m3 max worth it? Is it even needed? How about the m3 pro? Will the m2 be outdated soon? Looking for any suggestions

The iPhone 11 was my first iPhone, but I decided to upgrade last week since I need more storage and assumed I'd be getting a better camera. I am a professional videographer/photographer and I produce social media content and videos for work, I film myself using my phone and professional cameras often. But I'm not someone who has unrealistic phone camera expectations. I have not been happy with my iPhone 11--mainly I was constantly running out of space and never able to clear it. I decided I would give being stuck in the Apple ecosystem another shot and get a 1TB iPhone 15 Pro, imagining that between 4 iterations there would be improvement.

My 1TB iPhone 15 Pro arrived today, I immediately want to return it. It makes my iPhone 11 Pro look like a dream. Look at this:

Front-facing camera

On the left is my iPhone 11 Pro which I got in 2019. You can see that my skin has color (not as much IRL, but still). When I turned on the iPhone 15 Pro camera, which literally just arrived hours ago today... I started laughing. I look like a vampire. I look like I should be strapped to a hospital bed. Different lighting conditions don't fix this. This is the front-facing camera, and some people say I shouldn't use it. But how else am I supposed to tell I'm in frame? And regardless, this is unacceptable when the phone 4 generations older is producing such a better image.

Some might say "there's clearly a filter." There is no filter. There is something that brightens shadows on faces to reduce contrast and make you look better on both phones. It can even look extreme on the 11 at times. You can't turn it off on either phone.

Some might say "use the new Photographic Styles," which I've done: it barely changes things to start, and it also doesn't affect video.

I've tested the back, and credit where credit is due, the back is as good as the 11. This is a screenshot of video, to be clear.

Back-facing camera

There is still a very clear difference: the 15 Pro is bluer. In the video I've captured my skin is more magenta and the overall picture is too cool. But it is comparable to the 11 Pro, which I didn't realize was even good.

So what is happening here with the front-facing? Well, I think it's the exposure curve. I think I am being overexposed, and I'm honestly shocked that after 4 years, the iPhone isn't able to expose darker skin properly. Even my 11 Pro overexposes my skin. When skin is overexposed, it loses it's color saturation. wWhen we significantly lower the highlights in that image, the color is almost completely restored:

iPhone 15 Pro original

iPhone 15 Pro with Highlights brought down

But now I have to do this for every image? I didn't have to before. Can this be fixed? Do I just keep the phone and wait keep my fingers crossed for a firmware update? Because Apple is so great at listening to feedback. "Just edit your images. You're a photographer, you should be used to that." I literally did not have to do this before, and there is NO other camera I've used (unless I'm shooting sLog-3) where I have to return color to my skin because I look so unnatural.

This is absolutely laughable. It is so disorienting to look at myself in the mirror and then look at the mirror in my phone and to be so (I'm gonna say it) whitewashed! The 11 Pro even does this but not so much. It is difficult for me to relay to you all just how much I do not look like this, but I hope this comparison is clear.

If you have brown skin, I would not recommend getting the iPhone 15, or really any iPhone ever at this point, if you plan on using the front facing camera. The Apple ecosystem, the group texts, the blue bubble... I really don't think it's worth this: marginal "improvements," frustrating storage, and it's difficult to see THIS as anything other than overlooking people with dark skin tones. I ain't even that dark! But I ain't this pale. I keep seeing phone companies using dark skin tone rendering as a selling point, and I hear from black people that NOPE! Worse than they're old phone. It's all a marketing ploy at this point.

I am returning this phone tomorrow, and hoping I can just get an 11 Pro with more storage. If I can't, I might switch to Android, which I'm not excited by. I told myself I'd give Apple one more chance, "I actually don't hate the camera, I just hate how storage works." This was an immediate slap in the face.

Hi people, I'm looking for buying advice. I'm planning to replace my MacBook Pro 13 Retina 2015 with a MacBook Air 13 M2 with 16GB and 512GB.
It's not going to be my main computer; I have a desktop PC that I use for heavy tasks. The idea is to use the MBA when I travel or work outside home. That's why the portability factor is important to me, and the M2 Air looks so thin and light.

My workflow would include web browsing (15-20 tabs), Excel, Word, watching movies/media, Traktor DJ, and maybe a little bit of light Ableton (nothing very heavy, as I use my desktop PC for heavy tasks).

One of my concerns is the passive cooling and thermals. I don't like my devices to get too hot, as it has a direct impact on their lifespan. All my previous computers had active cooling. I have read that the "Low Power Mode" is very effective in keeping it cool.
What are your experiences with this?

The other thing is that I'm a long-term user (still rocking my MBP 2015 to this day). When I buy a device, I want it to last for many years to come. Do you think it's a good choice for my needs?

Thank you in advance, and sorry for my bad English! :/

This is going to sound wild.

My friend Edwin was ordering products off of the Ghost Energy app and when he went to proceed with logging into PayPal to pay, the iOS Keychain suggestion popped up from the bottom of the screen with Alex's personal email listed as an autofilled email. He was able to click on it to continue and it auto filled Alex's PayPal information. He immediately backed out and went to checked the Passwords section of the Settings app, he was able to see all of his own saved passwords AND Alex's as well which added over 150+ additional passwords/logins. How on earth can this happen? This is what we know and have confirmed:

  • They are not sharing location, in a family sharing group, or sharing any passwords between them.

  • They have not ever logged into anything on one another's phones.

  • They have never sent any links to one another from the Ghost Energy app.

  • Alex has never sent Edwin his personal email ever.

  • They have never sent or received files/media through the close proximity file transfer feature from iPhone to iPhone.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I am a long time Mac/iPhone user and have never seen anything like it.

Update: Forgot to add we have a screen recording of Edwin recreating the whole situation but we are not quite nerdy enough to blur out all the personal information shown.

The basic question I have is if Reddit has been loading slowly for other people with the latest beta iOS?

For me, videos especially take an egregious amount of time to load to where I just close the app. By egregious I mean 40 seconds to over a minute, but when there is a video I actually care to watch it's really annoying. The app itself seems slower altogether, so I'm leaning towards it being an issue since I downloaded the beta iOS version. I thought it would resolve itself with later updates but I just downloaded 17.2 last week and the issue continues.

I just pulled up Reddit on PC and everything works fine on the same WiFi network, so it doesn't seem to be my ISP. Every other app on my phone works fine, so I don't know why Reddit would be different. Anyone have any other ideas?

My wife and I were watching a movie and when we finished I grabbed my iPhone. When I unlocked it, it said “connected to (contact name and photo)” I’ve never seen this before. What would cause this

Hey all, I just have a question about Apple care

Hypothetically speaking, if someone were to crack the back of their iPhone without having Apple care, but a still within the period to purchase AppleCare, would they be able to buy it and then bring their phone in?

Thank you

Hi!

Dont know if this is the right sub but I’ll try anyways.

I have downloaded a live album (MP3 file) that is not aviable in Apple music and would love to bring that over to my Apple music library and make it so i can make each song a chapter so i can easily change beween songs just like a regular album.

I own an iPhone and an iPad.

Sorry if bad English since it’s not my first language, and feel free to ask if anything is unclear.

Any help would be highly appriciated😁

I had found a workaround to get 2 external monitors to work on my 2019 MBP. I have a docking hub with both monitors plugged in via HDMI (+ other peripherals) that works for my work PC.

For my MBP, I would plug the hub into 1 thunderbolt port on the MBP + 1 monitor connected to a Displayport adapter and plugged into another thunderbolt port. Viola! 2 working external monitors for my MBP (3 if I left my lid open).

Now, I have updated to a 2023 MBA and when I plug the hub in and the DP adapter, I cannot get both monitors to work independently like they did with the MBP. I either get both monitors mirrored OR only the monitor connected via DP working. Basically, the MBA won't connect to both inputs and I get strictly one or the other. Any advice?

USB-C sucks

CarPlay was randomly going in and out today. Took me a moment to realize the plug was loose. I jiggled it a little to reconnect. Awhile later, it went out again. As I was readjusting it dawned on me, this thing is becoming permanently loose.

I had never had this problem with the Lightning connector. So much so that it didn’t Really register with me the first few times it happened.

It’s the only reason I have this damn watch. It reminds me the last time I really worked out was July 22nd and for that reason I’m tempted to not wear it but I overlook that deflating reminder for the way I can just push the screen up and go to that little vibrating phone icon and find my damn phone. Where did it go? Does anyone know?

I was recently robbed and forced to disclose my passcode.

Is there a way to if my Face ID doesn’t match, request for my password instead of the passcode of the iPhone?

It is really easy to turn off the “lost my phone” mode and even more easy to login into iCloud. It just ask for my passcode when the Face ID doesn’t match.

My second question is: is there a way to stop my login info to be autocompleted at iCloud.com?
