So I was wondering, does every outdoor walk when activating the outdoor walk activity calibrate the watch. Or does one need to start a 20 min activity and only then does the watch calibrate?

My indoor steps seem very inaccurate at the moment. I've done two 2 hour outdoor walks already, so I figured the watch would be calibrated enough. But now I am wondering if to calibrate you need to exactly replicate the documentation, which says do a timed 20 min walk.

As the title said, my AppleTV keeps disconnecting from my WiFi every other minute and I don’t know what to do.

I’ve restarted the AppleTV several times and it still only works for a few minutes and then it says there’s “no connection” again, despite my WiFi working fine.

All my other devices are still connected, it’s only on my AppleTV this keeps happening and it’s frustrating as hell.

Anyone had a similar experience? Or any advice on what to do about it?

I know setting sleep timers in iOS 17 is a new thing and it’s easy to do with the Control Center, but why can’t Siri set a sleep timer if I ask her “hey Siri, set a one hour sleep timer?” I know she sucks but sheesh. Do I need to rephrase what I ask her?

This concerns a brand new 16-inch M3 MacBook Pro, so no wear and tear. When a bit of downward pressure is applied to the down arrow key, it makes this squeaking noise. The same holds for the left and right arrow keys, but it is a tiny bit better for them. Is this normal?

I reset my iPhone X and shut it off for 3 weeks to open it today. Tried setting it up, but the screen gets stuck on the page where we need to select the region, doesn't let me tap anything, and then it just reboots again.

Any ideas what might be happening?

When my MacBook is plugged in it switches between the plug icon and the bolt icon. I have optimized charging off and I recently deleted Al Dente. Even with the plug icon it still charges, should I be worried? Has this happened to someone else?

earlier today i dropped my phone in the toilet and it wasn’t in there for that long (maybe 10 seconds at the max). i dried it off the best i could since i was at school and tried charging it an hour or two later, but wasn’t able to because there was a pop up that said it detected water. my tech support knowledge is lacking so i put my phone in rice for 2 hours and it charged. the main problem i’m having now is that my phone won’t read the sim card. i took it out and reinserted it and the phone read it before giving me a pop up that said that there was no sim card in my phone even though i had just put it in. what should i do? i was thinking about getting a new sim card replacement but if there’s water damage is it even worth it?

okay i’m not really sure how to word any of this and clearly google hasn’t given me anything, but i just updated my XR to iOS17 and noticed that when i call my friend (who has a samsung galaxy phone) the end voice saying the call didn’t connect/voicemail is full/etc. is my siri’s voice. at first i thought i was hearing stuff then went and changed it and it changes the voice to that voice. is this because of samsung and iphone going hand-in-hand on some things? orr is this something else?

i purchased a song from itunes and i cannot make it my ringtone it wont come up in sounds& haptics and i cant click on the song or anything pls help if nothing works ill just do the garage band thing

While playing a YouTube short (Blues Clues) on my iPhone, I closed my eyes and after approximately 30 seconds my phone locked. However, the video plays to the end while my eyes are open…

•I have tested this with multiple “shorts” (children’s videos like Blues Clues and Miss Rachel, as well as music videos, podcasts, etc) and the same thing happens - once my eyes are closed, my phone locks 30 seconds later.

•I also tried covering the camera with my hand and this locks my phone after 30 seconds as well.

•This does NOT happen with regular videos (meaning not “shorts”) on YouTube.

•I have the camera settings off, etc.

•This happens on multiple Apple devices (my current iPhone on iOS 17.1.1, an older iPhone, my Mac laptop, my iPad), as well as different browsers (Safari, Duck Duck Go, etc).

What the heck?? How and why does my iPhone or YouTube know this?? Is Apple or YouTube spying on me thru my camera?? How could this be possible??

It's been a month now that I got my first iPhone in a long time (last one was a 3G model) coming from Android. 2 years ago I decided to test the iPad mainly for work/entertainment and I LOVED it was my absolute favorite purchased device since my first Kindle and I was waiting for Apple to switch to USB C to make the full change and I'm so happy with it so far! Now I'm going for the apple watch ultra next, man this looks like a pyramid scheme

Airdropping more than 200 photos seems to fail. I'd love to airdrop from phone to phone 1k photos, but it seems there is a sweet spot. What else have you come across? Or seen in practice?

I am a backend dev and work with java/spring/golang and work with intellij/goland. I also uses stacks like kubernetes and dockers. I don't run database locally.

For work we are given a macbook pro 15inch M1 16GB ram. It sometimes can get a bit slow.

Now I want a personal computer for coding, and have the flexibility to bring it out when I go travel. I doubt the workload and stress on the computer will be anywhere close to my work laptop, but I still want it to be able to run simple services on a few ports.

I am looking at 13 inch for portability, and preferably macbook air because it is lighter.

What would be a great ram count / chip / storage for this laptop? is macbook air going to be a bad choice as I heard it throttles with simple apps? is m2 chip worth it? Also, if macbook air works, since there is no macbook air m3 yet, should I wait for it to release? (I can wait a bit)

Context: I really like using the red flashlight during nighttime. However, it’s hard to launch while in sleep mode because the screen is locked, so I have to hold down the digital crown to unlock the screen, then launch the little menu to bring up the flashlight and all.

Question: Is there anyway to set up my Apple Watch so that when it is in sleep mode (locked screen) that when I double tap the side button, it automatically launches the red flash light?

I have a 2022 Apple TV 4K and a 2023 LG tv. When I. Watch YouTube on the tv’s app it works flawlessly, but when I use the Apple TV I get the black delays and a QMS-VRR banner at the bottom of the screen. I have Match Frame Rate and Quick Media Switching both “On”. The Apple TV is updated.

Any other Ideas?

Looking to upgrade but not in a rush. I have a 13” M2 MBA but my problem is the RAM. I do photography and mainly use lightroom and photoshop. This isn’t my main machine and mostly only getting a laptop for travel purposes so size and portability are top of my list alongside RAM. I LOVE the aesthetic and portability of my 13” MBA but understand I need better performance. I have pretty much narrowed it down to the 14” MBP with the M3 Pro chip OR wait for the M3 Air to come out and spec up to 24GB memory. I intend to keep this for several years so I don’t want to end up in the same position I am now with needing to upgrade after only a year due to not being knowledgeable in the first place about the base RAM. any opinions appreciated.

I use the iPhone mail app for my primary emails and today I’ve been having an issue where it will show I have 1 less unread email than I actually do. Like right now I have 4 emails unread but then it will show only the number 3 on the app icon and then it will change and then will show 4 again and it keeps going back and forth. It did it to me earlier in the day when I had 75 emails but the app icon kept only showing 73 or 74. Anyone else having this problem? Is it a bug?

I am looking to by my partner a new computer for Christmas. She is currently using a 13 inch 4GB 2015 MacBook Air.

This will be for her last year of University studies and her first professional job after that. She will be doing basic office work, no intensive photo or video editing.

I can afford either the M2 Air with 8GB of ram or the M1 Air with 16GB of ram.

I’m new to MacBooks so any input into what would be best for longevity and productivity would be great.

Hey guys, I have been having a real hard time deciding which macbook I should buy and I hope you might be able to help me.

I am a PhD student and use my Mac mostly for studying, giving online lectures and preparing seminars - I have a Windows laptop for running data analysis due to MacOs lack of compatibility to the softwares I use. I currently own a M1 MacBook Air and sometimes it freezes or takes long time to load heavy image files, powerpoint presentations and word files.

I am considering buying a baseline 8gb/256gb M2 15in MacBook Air OR a baseline 8gb/512gb M3 MacBook Pro. When it comes to the M2 MacBook Air, I am open to upgrading it to 16GB of RAM and 512gb of SSD, which would make it slightly better than the Pro, but would this upgrade on RAM and SSD be worth it? I know it sounds awkward, but my M1 Air is a 2020 model and is giving me some headaches to simply open heavier files, that's why I want to upgrade.

Considering that, which would you guys say is the best choice? Baseline M2 MB Air, Baseline M3 MB Pro, or Upgraded M2 MB Air - with which upgrades?
