My watch updated to the latest os, and now when I swipe up I get what to me is useless information. Where did my options go such as alerts, water lock, ect.? Is there anyway to get this back, or find it somewhere else?

I am wondering about your experiences with screen protectors. My last couple of iPhones, I went with the ATT plastic/glass screen protectors they sell in the store. They looked pretty good but cracked and crumbled pretty quickly. I've just been riding with a cracked screen cover for a year or two now and gotten used to it. I am hesitant to go back to the same ones now. Any advice on other options?

I remember back in the day I had a vinyl one that had a matte finish to protect against glare. Never got scratched or anything, but it did get raggedy after a while from pocket lint, etc. I'm not sure the pros and cons of these today, or if they are even still around.

What do y'all think?

Hey everyone, Just to bring everyone on the same page right from the beginning. Of course, I wasn’t that naive to assume this would really be a "new" iPhone, but let’s start from the beginning.

I bought an iPhone 12 mini 64GB for 389€ at eBay (https://www.ebay.de/itm/325896903820). It was advertised as new, but without original packaging since it was from a bulk/OEM/B2B purchase. Guess you heard that before. I thought I just give it a try.

When I received it the first thing I noticed was the sticker that mentioned "Data cleard" and "Rcvd; 09/28/2023". I also tried to get AppleCare+, which failed and checkcoverage.apple.com returned Juli 2021 as purchase date. Apple itself said (via Chat) it cannot give any more information. The vendor said it’s not AppleCare+ enabled since it’s from the OEM purchase. Is that really a thing?

Because I wanted to test it I switched it on and set it up without AppleID. The battery health is at 83%, but I don’t see any service history in settings>general>about, so at least all parts seem to be original. Am I right with this assumption?

Is it possible that this device has never been used and the battery is just that bad due to long storage? Is it more likely that this is a used iPhone that just has no parts exchanged or that it’s really "new" and was just laying around for years? I mean why would you clear data, if it was completely new? If it’s not new and this is proof, I would try to push the price a bit before sending it back. Are there any risks in using this phone? Any chance to completely rule out no parts have been exchanged? From the outside, it’s in perfect condition.

I've been searching around for recommendations for a good leather watch band and every post seems to just mention Buckle & Band, Nomad, Barton, and Surritt. Which must mean you guys like them, sure, but are those still the current best options?

I'm really looking for a quality leather (think your dad's old watch with the well-worn leather buckle strap that still looks great after a decade) in a classic watch band style with the stitching, buckle, etc and if the connectors look seamless that's a big plus. Are these the go-to options or does anyone have another lead on what I'm specifically looking for?

Does anyone use those protectors that go over the lens of the phone?

Do they affect the quality of the photos?

I'm also looking at a screen protector that limits the side view, leaving you out of the way of curious onlookers, but it's kind of dark and I don't know if it will affect the view of the screen.

I am moving my "work life" over to google voice to get better separation from my "personal life" (i.e. I don't want to see my boss' damn name in my text messages), and want to download the entire thread I have with a couple of work contacts. So far, I haven't found any way to do this without sitting there clicking every single message in the conversation going back almost two years. Does anyone know of a good way to achieve this?

Hello, ive been going back and forth on either 15 plus or 14 pro max but I can't decide.

Was hoping to get some input from here on what your thoughts might be.

I like the features that come with the 14 pro max however ive seen a lot of articles and videos that it's battery health seems to drain pretty rapidly. And I intend on keeping my next phone a couple years atleast.

I spent hours deleting photos going back to 2012 and they have all (or at least most) reappeared… I do not back up to the iCloud so theoretically when I delete they should be gone forever, I emptied recently deleted immediately as well. I do have the “shared album” toggle switch on in iCloud settings. No idea how this could have happened

Is anyone having difficulty with the music handoff functionality from your iPhone to your Apple watch since the newest software update? The watch seems unresponsive most of the time to attempts to skip tracks, etc. Anyone else? Any tips?

Hey guys, my uncle shares with me his Sling account. I know I can login with the details to Sling, Espn, NBC etc. However I can also login to just the TV Provider under settings and be auto logged into these apps which I prefer. My only issue with this will it start syncing stuff to his iCloud if it’s the same Email as his Sling?

Obviously I am using my own AppleID on my ATV/Phone.

Any clarification would be nice!

Just got a new iPhone and transferred photos from android using the Move to iOS app, but all my photos (15K!) are dated on the day they were moved. I’ve got photos of my kids I’d like to keep in date order but can’t seem to find a way that explicitly says the metadata is also transferred, anyone have any solutions?

How can I remotely download a file from my MacBook to my iPhone as soon as it connects to the internet? I don't have my phone with me and want to download a file to it from my laptop.

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro, literally over 10 years old. It is sometimes slow to a crawl and often can’t load basic websites. I have a separate work computer and an iPad Pro so I don’t use the MacBook much, but I was nevertheless looking to buy a new laptop to have a proper, usable computer for personal use.

I got the urge to try a fresh user account on the machine to see how it would run. I am absolutely blown away. It runs perfectly!! Sure, it’s not as fast as any modern computer, but for basic functionality, it works great! Highly recommend this to anyone thinking they need a new Mac if their current machine feels sluggish.

So I tried signing into my mother‘s older Apple ID and I’ve entered in her password correctly, but it needs trusted phone number but that’s the huge huge ass problem. She died and she created a recovery key for some stupid reason. Have fun hours have been deactivated, and I have no way of getting in to the account without the recovery key, which I don’t know. And even get to wear masks for the recovery key number which won’t work because those numbers have been deactivated. What do I do? How do I get into that old account?

i have an iphone 11 its been quite sometime since i had it. also changed the original battery once cause it went to service from apple. it runs really slow so somebody the other day told me it was because i run the latest ios software. he said you shouldnt update software for older iphones just update the required apps. is it true?

i bought a iphone 14 refurbished. it looks brand new and the battery life is at 86. the problem im facing is that the wifi is greyed out and i cant turn on the wifi. secondly the phone is not fully updated and wont even let me update it without the wifi. i tried to factory resetting it but its giving me a AkAuthentication Error which can be a result of time and date not properly set in my region or it can appear when im running older versions of ios. i get the feeling like it was a delibrate way to set my phone up. is there a fix to thid greyed out wifi problem or should i return the product on amazon

I picked up a natural titanium 15 Pro, figuring that the scratches people are reporting on the black phone would deter me, since I plan to keep this phone for a long time (I kept my X for 6 years).

but now looking at it, I am finding that I really like the look of the black phone better, since I can just get a black case and it all works well together, whereas with the natural titanium a black case looks bad with the light gray camera bump

does the black actually scratch that easily? maybe it doesn't matter with a case anyways.

I noticed when you put your phone on silent mode it doesn't sync with your watch. DND does sync so not sure why this doesn't. Annoying.

You can't change the text notification sound to match your phone. It only gives you 1 sound choice.

I charged it last night before I went to sleep. When I woke up this morning the watch is blank. I’m about to call Apple Support. Any suggestions on what to do?

I was getting this really annoying prompt every time I saved a contact in Whatsapp to use my gmail password.

Not really thinking about it, I tried just deleting that gmail account from my phone's settings. This deleted ALL MY CONTACTS from my phone. I have since added that account back, but the contacts didn't come back.

Has anyone dealt with this? I can't see the contacts anywhere -- they aren't synced in icloud, they aren't in google contacts, they aren't on my phone. Are they just gone? This totally sucks -- I had no idea they'd be wiped from everything just because I unlinked my gmail from my phone.

Can anyone save the day for me or am I hosed?

I purchased my first Apple Watch on the weekend and my bank statement shows a separate charge of $70 (the value of the gift card). Is this expected or am I just mixing it up in my head?
