I am a Student. So my budget is allowing me 2 things, mb air m2 base model or m1 with 16gb ram. I plan to upgrade to Macbook pro a year or 2 later if its needed.

I can't wait as my current laptop has stopped working. I have been using windows for my entire life and this will be my first macbook.

Programming -

I will be using Python, SQL mostly on this laptop. I plan to do Data engineering and basic python development on it, although I don't think I will be doing too much heavy tasks. I am one of those rare souls that focuses on just 1 thing at a time. So If I am programming I'll be using browser tabs and an IDE or a code editor. And if I am video editing, only those apps will be open.

Video editing - I won't be doing too much heavy work here either. I will just be editing some screen recorded videos.

P.S. - I have done a lot of research which suggest m2 is good for both as long as the workload doesn't get too heavy for example 4K videos etc, docker. Which I won't be using at least for now.

In the control center, when I press and hold the screen record button, this list of apps appears and you are able to tap them to assign the check mark. What is the purpose of this?

I’m looking for someone in this community to help validate something…. I am trying for a “Perfect Year”. Closing all three ring every day for an entire year. Along the way I am collecting Perfect Months. However I just updated to WatchOS 10 and I noticed that the potential perfect month award for October is not showing up under the “Go For It” section on my watch or in my activities app. Can anyone else who is on the same path verify if that award is showing up for them? I am going to be really upset if the watch update messes this up for me…

I've read that pairing the HomePod mini together can provide a better surround sound experience. Is it much better?

I have a work iPhone and a personal Android phone. Trying to work out if I can use my Android phone as a hotspot for an Apple Watch SE and leave the work iPhone at home when not working and still have connection to get work messages/notifications and the odd call on the watch when out and not need to carry both phones.

Searching has given me yes and no answers, so would be keen to know if anyone here has done it

I was charging my phone overnight, and when I woke up this morning I was experiencing the black phone of death. Nothing is working not force shutdown or connecting it to my iCloud on laptop. I have tried everything and apple support. They told me to come in physically, but my store is too far. This phone is necessary for working, without it I cannot do anything. Does anyone have any advice or know how to fix this?

Please help me out. I bought iPhone 14 midnight that is sealed two weeks ago from a retail store. It's all fine, no replaced parts, battery health 100%, and it's also under Apple's warranty. A few days ago, I started having a feeling that the phone's back's a little bit bumpy or thick. Sometimes, the feeling's gone and something it came back. I feel the bumpy feeling or thickness sometimes on the right side, sometimes on the left. I suddenly thought that might be the cause of swollen battery but no symptoms like screen lifting or back bulging is happening. Just the feeling. Can that be just an psycho feeling or worries or is the battery actually faulty and swollen? When I took the cover off and tried putting the phone on a flat surface, it stays flat. Please give me some advices since I am worried that the screen would come off and crack.

Updated my watch last night to the new iOS and since then the battery is draining instantly. Used to last well over 2 days. Any advice as to why it’s started doing this?

I need to replace the cracked screen / display on my 2021 MacBook Pro 16" model A2485.

After researching and price checking all my options, and getting tons of quotes / estimates, I've decided I'd like to just buy a display module and install it myself.

However, I'm not clear on what features will be disabled if I do that... and I could not get a straight answer from the Apple "Genius" I talked to.

It's my understanding that the TrueTone feature will not work if I go the DIY route. I'm OK with that, if it will save me a couple hundred bucks. But I've read conflicting info re: the fingerprint reader and the display's "angle sensor" (?) One person told those features need to "calibrated" to "work properly" and that only someone with an "Apple GSX Account" can make those calibrations.

But does that mean those features won't work at all if I DIY it?

I know about Apple's Self-repair program, where I can buy the display from them for $700, install it myself, have them "certify" the repair to get TrueTone working again, and also get a $90 trade-in value on the cracked display, so, apx $620 total repair. But I've also found the same part for $500.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer on what feature(s) would not work any more if I replaced the display myself, using a "genuine Apple" part I bought off eBay?

Got the new iPhone 15 Pro Max and all I can say is bugs, bugs and bugs. Camera app is black most of the times so I missed many photos in the moment, Face ID is working at best 50/50… it worked even worse if you don’t want display always on ,though 17.2 would fix that but no … went full reset before 17.1 beta and nothing helps. Had iPhone since 3GS and never had this many bugs. And I’ve been doing some beta iOS before too… is a full reset on 17.1 worth a second try?

I need a laptop for school that lasts 8 h easily. And since windows laptops don't do the trick i thought about a used macbook. Buyin an old one, maxing out RAM and SSD and be ready to go. Whats years of macbooks should i look out for? I want to do as cheap as possible. Its just used for google docs and for its battery life.

Does anyone else have this problem , I’m unable to preview media on WhatsApp , it just doesn’t download. I’m on iOS 17.1

So I just picked up an Apple TV (Brand new) from Best Buy and hooked it up to my Samsung QN90A and it immediately started flickering at me (the entire screen would go black then show the picture and go black again in a continuous cycle) it would go away when I opened the settings app and the only fix I’ve found so far is unplugging the tv and Apple tv and hooking them back up together for them to shortly start the process all over again, I don’t think it’s the Apple TV because I work at Best Buy and when I bought it we hooked it up to one of the display TV’s and just let some movies play throughout the day but I have no idea what is happening right now, any ideas?
