What are your thoughts on this: How about Apple add some good functionality to the double tap feature like if you have AOD on - if you double tap it turns on the screen rather than using wrist raise or the crown? I meant that can’t be hard to implement right?

Hi, I recently switched from an iPhone X to 14 pro max and I have noticed a big difference with the display of the 14 pro max. The display of the 14 has a yellow tint. It looks like I have night shift or true tone on when compared to the x.

Is this normal or should I send it back?

Thx

My phone suddenly started asking for Face ID about 10 times in a row, without me doing anything that warranted it. I immediately tried to disable it and changed the passcode because I’m afraid I was hacked somehow. Phone was very glitchy during this. Is this a bug? Or was I hacked? I’m a bit concerned.

It’s an iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 16.6.1

Hello, I recently got a new watch (from series 5 to series 9) because my series 5 overheated a couple of days ago and suddenly started losing battery rapidly (from 100% to 0% in 2 hours) so I thought it was the watch. I bought a series 9 yesterday, paired it, and am using it today only for it to have the same issue (100% to 0% in 2 hours.) Is it a watchOS issue? Is it a me issue? I haven’t downloaded any apps recently that my watch would need.

So I’ve had a Pro Max since rhetoric XS Max… it’s safe to say, I’m used to having a big phone. Lately, it’s really starting to annoy me so I decided to change from my 13 Pro Max to a 15 Pro. Firstly, I must say, the size is perfect. No longer uncomfortable or having to reach or dropping my phone. I am struggling with the battery life though. Has anyone else made the swap from Max to standard? How did you find it?

Even though I usually enable frame rate matching in the Apple TV settings for 24/25 HZ movies and series, I still experience occasional stuttering and freezing issues at 60HZ. When I switch to 25 or 50HZ, it seems to improve, but then the smoothness of the user interface suffers, which can be quite frustrating. I'm wondering if this issue has always existed. Interestingly, I don't encounter this problem when using Samsung TV native apps, but it occurs on Apple TV and Android TV boxes.

So, I've recently switched from a Google Pixel 7 to an iPhone 13 Mini. My last iPhone was the 3G model back in 2008. Since then, I've been a dedicated Android user, mainly because I found them to be far superior to iPhones in terms of multitasking, physical keyboards, customization, and battery life. I've always given iPhones a fair shot but never took the plunge, largely due to my comfort zone with Android.

In recent years, two things kept my love for smartphones alive: compact phones and the Pixel lineup. Without the Pixels, I would've migrated to an iPhone much sooner. Pixels have greatly enriched the Android ecosystem, and the Pixel 7 is a true pinnacle.

However, some factors have gradually nudged me to consider iOS.

Compact Format

I rarely keep a smartphone for more than a year. The worst experience was with the Sony XZ Premium, which I sold within weeks because it was too big and heavy. I miss my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and Sony Xperia X Compact terribly. The Pixel 7, in comparison, is a bulky behemoth, impractical for daily use.

The Ecosystem

My TV box was an Nvidia Shield, later upgraded to a Shield TV Pro. But it began showing its age with laggy performance and limited format compatibility. Switching to an Apple TV 4K was a game-changer in terms of ergonomics, simplicity, and overall user experience.

HomeKit

I've always been into home automation, using Home Assistant to tinker around. What I lacked was a smooth user interface. After configuring HomeKit on my iPad, I was sold. It outclasses Google Home in every possible way.

The Switch

Despite all this, I was still using my Pixel 7 until nostalgia for compact phones got the better of me. Luckily, I found a well-maintained, second-hand iPhone 13 Mini for 350€ with 89% battery health. I jumped at the opportunity.

My Takeaway

Switching back to a compact phone has been delightful. This little powerhouse meets all my needs without weighing down my hand or pocket.

Android, especially on the Pixel, has become so similar to iOS that the transition was seamless.

What I Love

  • The fluidity: Somehow, my 60Hz iPhone feels smoother than my 90Hz Pixel 7.
  • Customization: The Shortcuts app on iOS is a godsend for tinkerers like me.
  • Consistent experience: I still use Google One, Google Photos, Google Maps, and YouTube. Switching to Apple Pay has been problem-free.

What I Miss

  • Battery life: My solution is a MagSafe battery pack.
  • Notifications: They're not as user-friendly on iPhone.
  • Physical camera shortcut: I haven't found one yet.
  • Quick silence toggle: The physical switch isn't as intuitive as laying the phone face down on Android.

What Stays the Same

  • Camera: Both are great.
  • Apps: All my go-to apps are available and work better.
  • Accessories: My Pixel Buds Pro still work flawlessly.

In summary, I have no regrets. Apple's coherent, reliable, and high-performing ecosystem is something Google needs to work on. I hope every time I switch phones, I will still question whether to continue using an iPhone, without becoming an Apple diehard.

I hope this helps anyone considering making the switch, and feel free to ask any questions!

I am planning on buying first iPhone ever, and decided that it will be 13 mini, because I dont like huge phones. But I find it confusing to see how long it will be supported, since I cant find answer on the internet.

Is iPhone model supported 7 years after it is discontinued or 7 years after initial release date?

Just bought my first Apple Watch (series 9) a week ago. I absolutely love it. One of the only reasons I bought it is because I am a diabetic and recently upgraded my insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor to the latest model and is compatible with the Apple Watch now. So now I can view my glucose levels and trends on my watch without having to pull out my insulin pump. The only problem is having displayed on the watch face. None of the watch face layouts have it as a complication. I was beginning to think I would just have to scroll down to the app and click it every time instead of just looking at my wrist. But I tried one more time and it turns out the astronomy watch face (with only 1 complication) will support my app as a complication. So I have found what I was looking for but I really really would like to have a different watch face and a few more complications that I could edit. Is there anything you guys would suggest? I really don't want my only watch face to be of either the earth or the moon with only my blood sugar and time being displayed. Im really hoping there are a few more watch faces that will use my app as a complication. Thanks in advance.

Looking to buying a MacBook (currently a M1 Mac Mini user and want to transition) and am going to likely select between these two. I do love the black, but I can get a refurb M2 Pro for like 500 cheaper than the M3 pro. Is the m3 pro chip worth the extra 500?

I have the AirPods Pro first gen and it died on me after 1 year of use on one side, tried troubleshooting didn’t work. Then I got the AirPods and also have discharge issue.

I’m convinced it’s a build issue and would like to have none Apple earbuds recommendations for my iphone.

I tried my partner’s Sony XM4 earbuds (they don’t feel too good in terms of size and fit for me) QC is tad too expensive. Anything below this i’m all ears, i’m not an educated enough audiophile to distinguish much of the sound difference. As long as it’s clear, good anc for plane, decent battery and can work well with iphone.

Thank you in advance!

As most of you know, EU is enforcing Apple to make it possible for users to install apps without needing to do it ONLY via App store. I am from EU. Did Apple mentioned when side-loading is coming?

Not sure how many classic gamers we have here, but Lunar: Silver Star Story was ported to iOS back in 2012. The developer started updating the crap out of it a few years back. As of yesterday, you can buy it once and play it across the following platforms with iCloud saves:

  • iPhone
  • iPod Touch
  • iPad
  • Mac (Apple Silicon only, uses iPad version)
  • AppleTV

It's $10 in the US. While the sequel isn't available, this version is the definitive version and, hopefully, will be the basis of ports to the Switch, Steam, and more. This version of Lunar is enhanced greatly, pulling from the Saturn, PS1, and PSP releases and allowing you to change graphics, audio, and difficulty, among other settings.

During the 16-bit area, when it came to turn-based JRPGs, there were four that had enough of a following that they could be argued as the best of their genre - Chrono Trigger (SNES), Final Fantasy 6 (SNES), Phantasy Star IV (Genesis), and Lunar (SegaCD).

Brand new iPhone 15plus - transferred over from an iPhone 11 that was having the same problem..

When you reboot the phone, videos will play normally out of iPhotos and iMessage

Somewhere between a few hours and a day later, videos will no longer play in iPhoto or iMessage. Although in iPhotos, when you click edit you can get videos to play. Otherwise they won’t play.

Rebooting the phone fixes the problem for a while until the next time they randomly stop playing.

I’m out of ideas.

She calls me from work freaking out claiming that apple prompted her to change her 6 digit passcode to access the phone. She says she forgot it and is now locked out for several hours.

I have never heard of this before. And I would just like if someone could confirm if you are ever prompted to change your numeral digit passcode for any reason.

Everything ON. Not restricted or disabled anything. This is one thing I never experienced with any Pixel phone that I owned.
