In the past, Apple would upgrade any of my HD files to 4K when they added this 4K. At some point, or for whatever reason, not all my movies that RHD have been upgraded.

That’s not an issue with me other than the fact that I would love to know when they are available or eligible to upgrade, even if it makes a new purchase.

When you go to iTunes, if you own the movie, it just tells you what format you own. It doesn’t tell you if it’s available in a better format. Always tells you if it’s available in a lesser format. Does anybody have a definitive way to look at my Movies and decide wait there’s a 4K version?

If you bought an Ultra, why did you choose se it over the regular Apple Watch?

When I saw it announced last year, I thought to myself “no one is going to buy that”. I just thought there were too few features that most people don’t need. But now I see them everywhere. I don’t see the appeal of increased battery life being worth twice the price of the standard watch.

Why did you buy the Ultra and is it worth the price to you?

Prove me wrong I guess?

I’m using ATV 4k 2nd Gen and my problem is that Netflix has a very low bitrate (bad image quality) on some shows. (ie latest season of Sex Education)

Its connected with Gbit Ethernet on a BenQ HD projector, with Onkyo A/V receiver in the middle.

I have a 4k subscription and set the quality in user settings on the Netflix website to “high”.

All other streaming apps (Prime, Disney, Youtube…) work fine with normal image quality.

I already tried different Hdmi cables and also connected it directly to the projector. Same problem.

Only when I connect it to a 4K TV, the bitrate and image quality on Netflix is fine.

Also tested it with my phones hotspot to see, if it’s a problem with my internet service. Same problem here.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Looking to get my fiancée either a 15” Air or a 14” Pro for Christmas, and can’t decide. I’ve never owned a Mac myself, so I don’t have a lot of experience to draw from. She’ll be doing a lot of typing for work, and she wants to be able to play a couple of games like the Sims and Stardew Valley. My main question is, how is the keyboard on the Air vs the Pro, and can it handle the graphics of the Sims? Thanks in advance everyone

The screen only responds in one tiny spot, the 2 on the passcode spot, RIP

Just curious as to how people are liking the 15 series. What phone did you come from and what do you think of the new features like the action button?

I was reading the product description, as there was no mention of it. Should I go with the Satechi Magnetic Wallet Stand?

I updated this morning, and now I can no longer see battery level by swiping up. My watch face does not show this, so how can I check it now?

After 10 years of ownership of a STILL WORKING iPhone 7 Plus, my bf is finally letting ME have his upgrade this time around. Normally, he gets the upgrade and I get his hand me down iPhone, which I’m grateful enough for. He claims the model I’m getting today has the biggest screen, which is cool I guess but, honestly, the screen size doesn’t matter. I prefer smaller phones that fit in my car phone holder or a small purse etc. - I told my bf: Apple keeps bumping out the size of the iPhone a little bit more year after year, and pretty soon, it’ll be a tablet! (Note to Apple - you guys already made this cool thingie called an iPad, which I also have one of).

Behold, future, as I present you with the… (🥁 drumroll please)…iPHAD! The perfect iPhone and iPad combo! Only $1,999.99 and available now (by appointment only) at a wireless carrier store near you, that may or may not be closed during business hours! 😃😂

Seriously, though..I can’t wait for the UPS guy to drop off my new toy today….anyone want to make an offer on a historic, still operational iPhone 7 Plus?!

Like, when I say “mom home” Siri always hears “mum home” and then says it doesn’t know who my mother is.

I want to just block the word mum so it stops misshearing me.

So they have recent bought iMessage to android. I guess this was intended to bring customers from US to get into the android as I know that US uses iMessage than any other country.

Their software is also very optimised and smooth. Gives you the polished experience. Whats your opinion on them?

Personally I think that the normal iPhone camera app has exactly the right amount of control options for most users. They are quickly accessible and easy to understand for anyone. If someone wants to control every single detail, there are plenty of apps that allow for that.

------

However one thing that bothers me, especially with lidar equipped iPhones is the auto focus. Don't get me wrong, auto focus works really great and insanely fast most of the time, but some times it makes it impossible to get a great shot.

I am talking about situations with a partially obstructed view.

At a sport events, trying to take a picture through the protective netting, the phone doesn't take focus on the game, only on the net. Or taking pictures through a rainy car window. The camera will only focus on the rain drops. Not on anything outside. Or at the aquarium, where the phone focused on the glass and not the fish that were behind it.

I am not talking about a scroll wheel that allows you to fine tune the focus. I am talking about 3 presets that give the phone a general idea on where to focus in case auto focus misses. That way you can tell the phone to try to focus on something in the distance without figuring out for a minute what the best settings are.

I was looking for a new laptop and since apple silicon bombarded the market my switch from windows to Mac was destined. After thoroughly comparing M1 vs M2 vs M3 by watching hundreds of YouTube videos, reading articles, real word experiences on reddit, I decided to go for the 16in M1 Pro base model.

Checking the apple certified refurbished store, M1 16in was listed at 1979$ which was outrageous since my budget was under 1500$. After exploring other websites for refurbished products, I decided to go with amazon, particularly because of it's 9- day return on refurbished Macs + it had a lot of options for choosing sellers.

Well finding the right seller is a big task. The amazon tier list for refurb products went from excellent to okay.

Even going with the `Excellent Condition` is a gamble. Some people have gotten Macs with 80% battery, nicks and dents on the body and worst of all some people even reported their Mac stopped working randomly. Since refurbished products are void of warranty, something like this can be daunting.

Ignoring the red flags, I decided to make this gamble safer by choosing a trusted seller. After a lot of investigation I decided to go with `Woot`. Most people buying from woot received a sealed apple certified refurbished product which is 99.9999% a new product. You get the one year warranty and everything. Even after choosing woot it's safe to say it was a bit of a gamble (a little safe though).

So I ordered. And as you can probably guess, I received a sealed apple certified refurb. I even got it registered for warranty. And using the Mac now, I am nothing but grateful. It's so freakin beautiful. The screen is just so detailed and beautiful. the built is awesome. Overall I am really happy with my purchase and I just wanted to share it with everyone.

Also those who are wondering about the price, 1379 was without tax, it became 1500 with tax, which is still a great deal.

I really can't stress how good M1 is even in 2023 and will be in 2024,2025 and heck yeah maybe 2026.

For 99.99% of the users, M1 is still a great option (vouching for the pro here not air though air is good too), you won't regret it I promise, specially if you're tight on money.

I also created a doc to verify a refurbished MacBook is working okay - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZBSn-ikyYhIc_YLT6dq4SOAgJxIZGnMq12wuSeK-pBc/edit?usp=sharing

Hey guys, we have the new software update on Apple TV, I was just wondering if you know how to make the time bigger every time we’re about to turn it off by holding the home button??? Hope that makes sense… because with the new update we had trouble finding the time💀 and then when we found it it was really on the top looking soo small. Hope this helps! 😭

it dawns on me that there's probably never going to be a good time to grab an exceptionally good deal, unless you're lucky.

By now, all the "exceptionally good" deals (I'm thinking this year's previous m2 macbook pros) are gone. At least, the m2 macbook pros you'd want to spec perfectly...

there doesn't seem to be that kind of choice for getting the exact specs. they're all refurbished bundled.

so my quandry is: one might as well give up on their ideal spec'd m2 macbook pro and just get a brand new m3 macbook pro?

Hello,

I can't decide what to pick, I know all the pros of the PRO, although is this price difference worth it?

My spouse possesses an Apple Watch Series 4, a cherished gift from her deceased father. She wishes to preserve it by framing it rather than disposing of it. Presently, I own three Apple Watches: a Series 6 in titanium, a Series 7 in aluminum (GPS), and an Apple Watch Ultra. To acquire a new Apple Watch Series 9 in pink (45mm) for my wife, an item she has expressed a desire for, I am contemplating selling or trading in one of my existing watches. However, our financial prudence prompts us to seek cost-saving measures.
Option 1 involves parting with my Series 6 in titanium, a timepiece I have owned since its launch. Like my wife's watch, this too holds sentimental value, having been a gift from my father with whom I have a strained relationship. Despite this, owing to my father's age and declining health, I anticipate a similar sentimental attachment. Although its battery performance requires a $99 repair, its potential resale value online appears promising. While contemplating relinquishing this watch, both my wife and closest confidant have expressed that the heart rate data captured during our wedding holds greater significance. Their understanding of my decision to potentially part with the Series 6 was discussed earlier, particularly during the period when I was considering acquiring the Ultra model.
Option 2 involves trading in my Series 7 (GPS), a watch I frequently wear despite being unable to utilize its cellular capabilities due to my existing cellular plan. Although its battery life is subpar, it serves commendably during workout sessions. Its rapid charging capability is an advantage, providing a quick remedy for low battery concerns, unlike the Series 6. Occasionally, I prefer using this watch for brief intervals, perhaps once a month for a day or two, to diversify from the larger watch models in my possession. However, its durability pales in comparison to both the Series 6 and Ultra, necessitating careful handling to prevent damage.
The acquisition of the Ultra was motivated by several factors: extended battery life, heightened durability, the presence of an action button, and its size. The realization that three watches may be excessive has led me to contemplate downsizing. During a recent repair of the Ultra, I alternated between using the Series 7 and Series 6, hoping to determine which one to relinquish. Yet, I remain unable to reach a conclusive decision.
Given this context, I am seeking guidance on which watch—either the Series 6 in titanium or the Series 7 (GPS)—would be more suitable for trade-in or sale.

It can see how the wide-angle camera jumps, in addition to distorting some objects. It’s an iPhone 12 and iOS 17
