For context I’ve threatened to leave the Apple ecosystem a lot. However Apple keeps their ecosystem alive and healthy, so I’ve decided to stay. Right now I’ve got some stuff in the works on Apple Podcasts (Podcasts Connect), along with some stories I’m writing with Pages, later to be published on Apple Books. While I love how portable and nice and vibrant my iPad Pro is it’s not ideal for typing or writing a book with. My older sisters got a MacBook Air (M1) uses it to watch movies which is the same reason why I’ve got my iPad Pro. Would it make sense to upgrade to a MacBook Air (M2) from an iPad Pro with the same chip?

I know it sounds terrible. I am a geek when it comes to repairing things. I am just trying to find what I can do with this Macbook Pro MODEL A1398. So, when I first got this from a friend of mine, he told me that the screen was gone completely. I fixed it by putting the macbook to an HDMI and mirroring to another screen. That's completely alright. Temporary solution.

Problems:
Computer works only when it is plugged into charge.

No screen but HDMI was working.

Biggest problem is the OS is gone. While updating with an external file, he completely broke the computer and now even with HDMI port, there is no signal at all. What can I do?

I am seeking for your help. I know that many people will say that "forget about that computer, it is dead". Still, it is something that I dwell on and help myself to stay busy with something.

Is there a way to lock the 5X zoom in iPhone 15 pro max with apple’s camera app or a third party app?

It’s so annoying that sometimes even in good lighting my phone uses main camera in 5X zoom…

I’ve never had an Apple Watch and don’t know the difference between the various models, I’d like one that can have multiple timers going at once, temperature/weather feature, sleep tracker, step tracker, ability to send texts, gps, waterproof and a screen that doesn’t have to be stuck on, what is the oldest model that has all these functions?

Got a series 6 on watchOS 10.1.1, paired to an iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 17.2 (public beta 21C5040g).

I recently deleted and reinstalled the Twitter (known by some as “X”) app on my iPhone, and my notification settings have been reset. Previously, I had it so that Twitter motivations didn’t get displayed on my watch (as some are not always SFW).

After reinstalling, the Twitter app isn’t showing up in my Watch app (Watch > Notifications), so I can’t disable the notifications for it.

I’ve unpaired and re-paired my watch, and it’s still not showing up, neither as Twitter or “X”.

Any ideas on what’s gone wrong/what I can do?

I have tried 3 different screen protectors and they all have an air gap around the edges of the screen that don’t go away. Some worse than others. Even without a case applied they show up and bug me 😭

Does anyone have any solid screen protectors they could recommend that don’t do this?

I have the Dell WD19S docking station and just purchased a macbook air. Downloaded displaylink but it doesn't recognize my 2nd monitor, it just puts it into mirroring mode. Also, sometimes when I unplug one of the monitor cables and plug it back in, it turns my main widescreen monitor into a lower resolution and doesn't go full widescreen. Are there any extra drivers I need to download? I assumed displaylink would work right away but I might be missing in download/step somewhere.

I'm connecting to the docking station with a usb-c directly to the macbook. From the docking station, I have two display ports running to each monitor with an HDMI.

Am looking at buying an Apple Watch. Never owned one before. Currently have a cheap Garmin with gps, got it to mainly track my runs, heart rate etc. But it doesn’t have cellular. Just thought an upgrade would be nice and if I’m able to go on my runs/workout and not have to carry my phone that would be awesome.

Contemplating on the series 2 SE or series 9, both with cellular. Can’t decide as the SE is $480 and series $810 for the cellular versions. That’s a big difference in price. The ultra is too much for me I feel but also too bulky which I can’t stand.

So just want to know if the extra $330 is justified. Would love to hear your opinions.

Hey Reddit! I’m a senior in college looking for a laptop that will last me at least the next 3 years. I have the opportunity to buy three different ones and am hoping for some input on what I should purchase:

1. New MacBook Air M1 8gb/256gb - $749
2. New MacBook Air M2 8gb/256gb - $920
3. Used 14” MacBook Pro M1 16gb/512gb -$1000

It will be mainly used for everyday school work, WOW (on the rare occasion when I don’t feel like sitting at my desktop) and teaching myself Python overtime. The storage doesn’t bother me much as I have a portable SSD but I am concerned overtime the Airs may not be enough. On the other hand I’ve never purchased a second hand computer so I’m leery about that even though this computer looks to be in excellent condition.

I appreciate any feedback or suggestions!

i got the watch yesterday and charged it to 100. i saw from others on here that they get about 1.5 to 2 days of battery life. from 7:38 pm yesterday to 4 pm today it’s already at 13%. i have the latest update on both the watch and my phone and i’ve restarted both devices

It says “radiostation ios 16.7.2 is currently unavailable. Try again”. Now I’m on iOS 16.6 and would like to update to latest 16 version. I can not understand why it says “radiostation” and can’t understand why is there an option for both iOS 16 and 17. I don’t wanna update to 17 because of the possible performance drop. iP11P.

I found my very old iphone 4 and I am wondering if there is any method to recover photos.

I've been on iPhones for quite a while. I'm currently on an iPhone X (which has a physical SIM), and before that was on a 6 Plus (also a physical SIM). So I was able to move my SIM from one phone to the other if needed.

My X is showing its age, so I was looking at the 14 or 15. But both use eSIM, and from what I've read the physical SIM gets shut down when converted to an eSIM.

So are there any methods of using an older iPhone as an emergency replacement, given how eSIMs work? Or would I have to find an eSIM-capable phone for this purpose? Thanks.

The photos app won’t recognize my two children (both over 1 year old), despite being in almost all of my pictures. It used to and I had them as favorited people, but ever since the most recent iOS update, I noticed they’re gone. They do not show up as people to add in the thumbnails list of recognized people under People and Pets and there is no question mark when I look at a photo of either of them (even a portrait style picture of just their face). Does anyone know how I can fix this? I’ve tried googling it but none of the support options address this issue.

I have an iPhone with the Google photos app installed and set to not back up. I have a new Google Pixel 8 that I use for work. It is set up to back up photos. Having it set. This way allows me to see the pictures I take on my Pixel from my iPhone.

I have it this way so that I can take pictures on the iPhone and the Pixel to use on social media, and other platforms. I do not need to see pictures in Google Photos that were taken on the iPhone. I want to use the Google Photos app on my iPhone to only see the pictures that were taken on the Pixel. Currently in Google Photos app on my iPhone shows me the photos taken on both devices, even though it is not set to back up from the iPhone.

How do I see only pictures taken on my Pixel in Google Photos (on the iPhone app)?

I used to be able to view a contact’s shared location by clicking their name or image at the top of a text (basically their “info” page). Now it doesn’t show up anywhere other than the “Find My” app which I’ve never used before. When did this happen? Am I going crazy?
