Hey folks. It’s been a while since I’ve been back in a Mac (black and white MacBooks where my last) and I’m loving my M1 thus far. Unfortunately I’ve been having a bunch of connectivity issues with my M1 Air and its integration with docks. I use my MacBook primarily as a desktop and the it’s been a mix of not enough throughput for all my usb devices/hubs to dropped Ethernet connections and more. Is this a matter of a using a usb-c hub instead or a thunderbolt hub? Is there a reliable budget thunderbolt 3 hub out there that people trust (I switch between my work laptop and my MacBook at times)?

My hardware: My MacBook Air Anker USBC hub Desk mounted 4 port usb hub Direct Ethernet for Remote Desktop/gaming Logi-connect dongle for Mx master keyboard and mouse 4k 55” monitor Etc.

I would love to set up my 15 Pro Max camera settings so that when I open up the camera app it is defaulted to Black & White mode rather than color mode. I've been searching around and haven't been able to find a guide on this. Anybody know if this can be done, and if so how to do it? Thanks!

My wife and I have shared the same Apple ID since we first got iPhones probably 10 years ago. We’ve never really had issues with new phones and updates with iOS until now. We both got the new iPhone 15’s, and so we went through the normal process of loading everything onto the new phones from our iCloud backup. In the past when we’ve done this, sometimes I need to go into the iMessage settings and make sure that we can only send and receive texts/calls from our own numbers…which was the case again this time and it usually is fine after that. However, there seems to be something new with iOS that’s causing a lot of confusion for us. It’s the Apple ID and the way it’s identifying us to others. At first, I updated my phone’s Apple ID with a new picture to display and my display name when I call and text people. Because we share an Apple ID, her phone defaulted to showing me whenever she’d call and text people which was very frustrating for her. My wife updated her picture and how her name is presented after me, and so now whenever I call or text people, it’s displaying as her now. I want to be able to keep the same Apple ID because this has worked for us really well so far… but I need to be able to separate ourselves with the way that we’re displayed and identified when we reach out to others. It’s messing with everyone that we communicate with.

I want to rig up a skinny flat monitor to place over my broken macbook screen using 2 sided tape or velcro. My question is can I use this monitor as my primary screen using a command? And if usb c to usb c is the only cable I need to connect the two devices together. Thank you for the help, I hope others can see their is a pretty good solution dealing with a common problem in having a crack screen

I find that it only works about 20% of the time, and even then I’m not completely sure what it’s going to.

It works all fine but I’m paranoid about wether it had taken any possible damage. Can this lead to any damage that shows up years later or after falling again in the future. Like, do such falls cause any “wear” on phones’s health? Or should I consider it all perfect and flawless?

It does this most of the time now, but will occasionally show up for reasons I’m not really sure why? There are extensions I have to turn on and off somewhat regularly, so it’s a pain to tap all the way through the menus to get to it. Anyone had this before?

As noted I’ve had it happen on both a 13 Pro and 15 Pro both up to date on 17.1.1

I currently have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and there is really nothing wrong with it but I’m changing my phone plan and am thinking it may be the time to switch phones as well. That being said, because I have no issues with my current phone the only thing making me want to make the switch is the colour for the pink 15 plus 🫣 Will that be considered a downgrade going from a pro max to a plus even though it’s 11 to 15? Am I going to notice differences and wish I didn’t change? I got the 11 Pro Max mainly for camera and because I was buying used outright so it was the best model for the best price. TYIA ◡̈

I'd love to hear someone who changed to any version and tell me if they hoped for more, or a non-pro version is enough. Thanks!
