Hello! My native language is not English, but I'm interested nearly exclusively in content in English. However, when I start to browse, only podcasts in my native language get recommended. When I look at in certain category, there is no podcasts in English, which makes it impossible to discover any new podcast unless I know specifically what I'm looking for and search for that. When I go to top podcasts, they are also in my native language. I'm very confused because I don't remember having this problem before and I'm not sure how to get rid of this regional dependency of recommendations I get. My phone is in English, the podcasts I listen, follow and download are also in English, so I'm not sure what changed.

I haven’t turned on hotpsot except one time for a friend and he used around 200 MB. After that how come this? It’s increasing day by day. Is it counting my WiFi usage also? No right?

I just purchased my very first Mac (Macbook Air, M2, base model). What are your tips for keeping the battery health normal? I will use it for work and the device will run for at least 12 hours a day.

tldr at the bottom.

So i have been a windows/ android guy for years. I had windows laptops and android phones since the iphone 4. when the iphone 12 pro max came out I thought it looked great and I was in the middle of struggling to get support on my galaxy s20 so i gave it a shot and fully switched back to apple since then.

Recently I had my asus laptop die a week out of warranty ( chipset died needed a $800 motherboard ) and I figured before dropping two or three thousand canadian dollars on a macbook pro I would pick up a cheaper used macbook to try the os out and see what I think as i had never owned a apple computer prior to this.

I ended up with a 2020 intel macbook air, previous owner ordered it with a bunch of upgrades so it has the i7, 512gbssd etc. So far i have been loving it. The screen is amazing for a laptop ( even compared to the oled screen in my old asus ) the keyboard is great most comfortable laptop keyboard i have used in a while, and most of the applications i ran on my windows computers have mac versions available and they all run great. Biggest plus for me of the intel mac is boot camp, the one thing that doesnt translate to mac is forscan and sct updater for updating the tuner and changing as built values on my car.

So far the only thing i have ran into issues with is playing 4k content over hdmi to my tv, it just seems like this macbook just doesnt have it in it to do 4k hdr remux rips, but i have other solutions for doing that and its been a mild inconvenience at most.

So im curious if anyone else has a similar use case for a laptop has found the upgrade to a "m" macbook worth it or should i just wait untill this macbook doesnt get updates anymore

tl:dr : Is upgrading from a 2020 macbook air i7 to a 2023 macbook air m2 worth it for someone who doesnt do any intensive applications?

Like the title says, coming from android (more specifically pixel)

I did enjoy the inital promise of customization offered on android devices, but for whatever reason Google has done away with huge portions of that freedom and weirdly “pure android” has started to feel more like IOS.

Much to my pleasant surprise apple has fixed a huge number of my complaints with iOS since my last iPhone 7 years ago. To be frank I used to shit on iPhone but am eating a lot of crow here admitting that they definitely fixed most of their shortcomings and are clearly pulling away in the smartphone race (like you needed me to tell you that)

That being said… HOW HOW HOW is the iPhone keyboard so bad? I know this sounds like a small problem but when I last used an iPhone years ago, the period placement (near the space bar) caused me to constantly fat finger random periods into most of my searches and messages. It’s hideous design and I can’t understand for the life of me how apple hasn’t solved this wart of a problem. Especially because I KNOW that most people who work at apple are aware of the issue because it affects basically anyone with an iPhone! LOL

Not only is it an old, know issue, but it’s an obvious one that actually causes inconvenience. Not just the period, the entire board is cramped and it’s genuinely difficult to type on compared to Gboard, which I am using now to type this. It took me a few days to realize I could use gboard on IOS and HOLY SHIT is the difference night and day. I actually feel bad for all the people (most) using the stock iOS keyboard. It was like being stuck in hell lol

Just bewildered by how apple has solved so much yet somehow ignored this simple fix for going on a decade

hi there! i am a total novice with this so be nice 😅 i need some advice for which macbook pro to buy for dj-ing and music production. in particular running rekordbox, mixed in key & i would like to learn ableton. also have a massive library of music. i am getting back into it after stopping for a few years, my old macbook is from 2016 and doesn’t want to run well anymore.

looking at one of the new 2023 macbook pros but am so confused about what specs i’ll actually need.

is 18gb ram enough or will i need 36gb? how much storage 500 or 1tb? is the new m3 pro chip worth the $$ over the m2?

overall is it worth it to get the best specs or will i be fine with 18gb ram, 500gb storage but opt for the m3 chip?

or go with 36gb ram, 1tb storage with the m2 chip??

any help will be appreciated so much!

and i am sticking to mac as i have an iphone and it’s easier to connect everything !

thank you in advance ☺️

Hello, I have a question and I hope someone could help me.

The phone I am using is iPhone 13 Pro Max.

After I had updated the phone to iOS 17, this issue has become so frequent that it makes it impossible to do something without interruption.

When I type or navigate any app at all the screen command, or gesture, to swipe right to the next app keeps happening without my intending to do so.

If it is not clear, I am referring to the bottom white panel which indicates where you touch and move the finger to minimize the app or to switch between open apps. Maybe it is called the “home panel” since it functions instead of the center home button on models of iPhones from the past.

I searched through many settings and cannot find any setting to reduce its sensitivity, assuming sensitivity is the issue.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thank you!

I've bought a second iPhone (a used 13 mini) just to use as a webcam through Continuity Camera, and it's fantastic quality and at the same time much cheaper and less clunky than a standalone DSLR. Really happy with it!

There's one problem:

Every time I unplug and plug in my machine, the iPhone (iCamera?) needs me to unlock it with FaceId for it to reconnect to the machine and be available as a webcam again. Not a huge deal, but not ideal either.

Anyone else experience the same thing? Any ideas on what I could do to either make it automatically unlock (f.ex. when my Apple Watch is nearby) or not need to unlock to use Continuity camera?

My set up:

I have it set up in a fixed position on top of my desktop monitor, and connected through the USB hub on my monitor, with a single cable going to my Macbook. I've turned off bluetooth (so it won't still attempt to be my webcam wirelessly when I'm not at my desk) and have no non-standard apps or content on the phone, although it still has wifi (for updates) and is logged in to my iCloud. I have also turned off "stand-by-mode" as when that came on, the webcam wouldn't turn on.

Yesterday my IPhone SE randomly powered off while it was at full battery. It turned back on shortly after and I thought it to be a one time thing but ever since than it's been powering off like that every five or so minutes. I've been meaning to upgrade my phone anyway -- the entire backside is shattered. The issue is I haven't backed up the data in a considerably long amount of time. Every time I try to initiate a backup my phone just powers off after a few minutes and I have to start all over again once it turns back on. I'd like to know if there is any way I could resolve this issue without losing all of my data. I'm going to get it checked out tomorrow but I worry that there is nothing they can do. If possible I'd like to find a way to keep my phone on long enough to do a backup so I can transfer the data to my new phone.

  1. Why don’t iPhones offer an option to combine the sound from the phone speakers with the transparency feature of the AirPods for an exceptional experience? It sounds amazing when you are previewing a ringtone while wearing AirPods with transparency mode enabled, and sound comes out from both ends! Imagine having that wile watching a movie.

  2. If both my friend and I have AirPods, why can’t we watch a movie together with both pairs of AirPods connected to the same device?

I'm curious if anyone has experience with playing the piano and the new gestures feature in Series 9. I play the piano for a living and I'm concerned I would accidentally trigger something. I'm debating getting an 8 or 9, but I'd probably only get the 9 for the gestures feature and I'd hate for it to be useless due to my job.

I need a new laptop for software development. I currently have a 8gb m1 Air and it's not enough for my needs.

I'm currently running a dual monitor setup + macbook display with a dell Dock.

I intend to get another monitor so will have 4 screens in total.

My Air gets really hot with my current setup. intellij uses 4gb ram alone, docker, browser tabs, VM, teams. I've seen the air using 4gb swap from the ssd. It's slowing down a lot. Some apps crash.

I'm not so bothered about the pro screen or refresh rate, extra ports doesn't interest me either. However I am interested in the active cooling and great battery life since my air gets so hot. I won't consider a 14pro as I don't want less than 15 inch for portability/screen comfort.

Should I pick a secondhand/refurbished macbook pro 16 M1 with 16gb ram/512gb ssd or new 15inch M2 air with 24gb ram/512gb ssd?

UK Post (just to save confusion)

So i have no doubt that Costco are likely to do some apple related deals this black Friday , but does anyone know other sellers worth paying attention to for a good deal on the likes of the Air M2 and clearing stock of the Pro M2 ? Looking at picking one up if they come up at a decent price, certainly don't need an M3

I really want a watch with cellular. I have the original SE/ gps. I kinda want to go all out this time. Not ultra. I’m petite. I’ll trade in my SE. advice?

Since 3 days, my iPhone 14 doesn’t pick up any cellular service. My sim card works fine and there aren’t any troubles with my sim card holder too. The weird part is, my phone recognises that I put a card in there but it doesn’t react in any way.

Has anyone had the same problem does anyone know how to fix this?

I need to find a charger with a nearly indestructible neck area.

In order to use the CarPlay functionality in my car, I have to connect my phone via lightning cable; but unless the charger connection is pristine, the car won’t recognize that an iPhone is plugged in. Since the little neck joints on iPhone chargers get damaged so easily, the connection inevitably gets too spotty and I have to stop using that charging cable to connect to CarPlay, even if it still works to charge the phone. I have gone through over a dozen chargers this year. Does anyone have a favorite, SUPER durable charging cable recommendation? I’ve tried buying the ones that are labeled “durable” online, but have the same breakdown issue within a few weeks. Unfortunately, my car does not support wireless CarPlay.

I'll be getting pro Max next month and Idont upgrade atleast for four years so big issue i noticed was battery degrades significantly probably since three years so should I use 20w or 30w charger with my phone? As a youtuber test showed only 10 minutes difference in charging time if I use 30 watt charger.

Thank you!!

iPhone 12 felt like a gold bar while iPhone 15 is so light like there isn’t anything in there…

For some reason the color balance feature on my AppleTV 4k where you hold your iPhone up to the screen will not work. Takes a long time for it to even start then always fails. I’ve tried everything I can think of but nothing works. Anyone seen this before? Running the latest OS.

I asked this sub 2 weeks ago if I should get a MacBook since I’m changing over from a PC. As an English major who wants to major in Technical Communications.

The funny thing is my PC is 3 years old and is now acting up since I’ve been thinking about getting a MacBook. The battery isn’t that great. But it gets the work done. I want to fully transfer over to an Apple ecosystem but the thing is I’m not sure if I should get the 8 GB of RAM or 16 GB of RAM with 256 GB of SSD. Especially since Black Friday and Cyber Monday are this week.

On my iPhone, iPad mini, and PC they’re all 256 GB and I still haven’t run out of storage. (If this gives any insight/help).

Would it be best to get refurbished or go with student education and get the discount?
