On Anime

While Anime is a beloved animation style with a rich history and extensive following, our focus here leans towards other forms of animation. This is due to the immense popularity of Anime in online spaces, which is amply covered by other dedicated communities.

This doesn't mean that Anime related conversation is not allowed here, only that it's not our focus. For a dedicated Anime instance, check out ani.social.

On Technical Discussion

While our primary goal is to discuss animated media, conversations about animation techniques and the process of creating animation are also welcome. Whether you're a budding animator seeking to understand more about the industry, or a seasoned professional sharing your experiences, you're welcome here.

Really disappointing to hear... I'll still watch it, but I had a feeling it could be lame like most video game content.

Everything is well done, especially the emotions of Wall-E and Eve. Quite a feat.

What’s obvious from the start is how much of a James Gunn project this is. The writer/director/producer/studio head is known for his ability to give the goofiest, raunchiest characters a bit of heart. He did it with the Guardians of the Galaxy, he did it with The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, and he’s done it here again with the Creature Commandos. Every off-color joke or extremely grisly death is set against a backdrop of sincere character work. Each of the Commandos gets their due thanks to steady pacing and an expert blending of the present-day storyline and backstory for every member of the team. Even the feral Task Force X survivor Weasel gets a tragic flashback! By the end of these seven episodes, I was fully endeared to the entire squad – making the emotions of the finale hit even harder.

I never realised this film started out to be a Disney+ series. Reminds me of Toy Story 2 which was originally going to be straight to video sequel.

I just finished season 2 now. Without much spoilers, it was a real mixed bag. Some parts were amazing, some parts were very mediocre, all parts felt very rushed and poorly paced. I still liked it, but I would give it a 7/10 rather than the 10/10 starting season...

That said, episode 7 was fantastic. The only episode where the writers let characters actually talk for more than 30 seconds.

Pantheon season 1 has been added to Netflix today, but season 2 has not (and might never be). Both seasons are on Prime Video but it is region-locked, though I'm not sure which regions it is available in.

Pantheon is a fantastic sci-fi show with really smart themes that has been completely screwed over by streaming services. The writing is incredible and contains some very intelligent satire and critiques of big tech corporations, and even dips its toes into geopolitics (not even kidding, the Israel-Palestine conflict becomes a plot point in season 2, and this was written prior to Oct. 7).

If you want to watch the series in its entirety then piracy is a must for the vast majority. Needless to say, I highly recommend watching.
