tl;dr: in response to pressure from the apple vision pro, google killed their internal "iris" smart glasses effort in order to combine their efforts with samsung & work on one ui for xr & another unnamed headset. in doing so, they've also decided to let all oems skin android xr just like on phones. they're also working on something called "micro xr", but no one knows what that is yet.

What are your thoughts on the best Android keyboard out there? Which one gets your vote and why?

Anyone else getting inundated with ads for the Razr+? I'm seeing a tsunami of ads and reviews saying how awesome the outer screen is.

Maybe it's great. But I'm having a hard time understanding why a small(er) screen on a thick hunk of technology is better than a big screen on a thin hunk of technology.

Jeroba is already lackluster and there's a lot of stuff you can't do on Jeroba that you can do when browsing lemmy through a web browser. One new issue that jeroba has developed is that now it crashes a lot. This has crossed the line for me. It was already a pain to use but the crashing makes it so much worse. Are there any alternative apps yet?

Replacing Nokia 8.3 5G cuz it's broken

I have #Openkey-chain installed on my #Android phone and use it with #fairmail for sending #PGP #encrypted #email. For the life of me I can figure out how to import it into my #webmail client, #horde, for using it there. I have an option to import #key, but I don't know how to actually get the key into a place that I can import it. Any #help? @android @android

Pixel 7a may've used a worse packaging material for the SOC resulting in higher heat and worse performance compared to pixel 7 and pixel 6

Hi guys I couldn't really find a lemmy wearos community or galaxy watch community. I kinda made a post back on reddit in the past talking about how to get around certain limitations on galaxy watch 4/5 (like dnd sync, ecg, samsung pay button maping, etc). This repost also is kinda for me also since every so often I accidently unpair my watch and need to reset it. Anyway enough rambling rest of post is bellow :)

Hi guys I've noticed the gear watch 4/5 has a few nit picks:

1. Do not disturb/bedtime mode only syncs with a samsung phone Work around: https://github.com/rhaeus/dnd-sync If your phone is on Android 13 follow this additional step to grant dnd permissions on phone: https://github.com/rhaeus/dnd-sync/issues/7
2. 3. Samsung pay is hard mapped to the lower button even if google pay is set as default payment method: If your watch didn't come preinstalled with samsung pay:

• This method is prefered since this app spoofs the samsung pay package name and then launches gpay making it a bit more snappy. https://github.com/blunden/SPayToGPay If your watch came pre installed with samsung pay:

1. ~~Find my phone via Watch5 plugin doesn't work on android 13 Not sure how to fix the plugin I just use find my phone from google assistant as a workaround.~~ (plug in works had issues with a prior custom rom install)

Looks like it will take some time to figure it out, but the developer ljdawson is looking into Lemmy support for sync.

This app is so smooth, and caching posts and comments for offline use while on the plane or in low reception areas is a clutch feature for me.
