Top comment in 120 sec is next move

Game 1/2 is about to start. 2nd game in approx 12 hours. 2 minutes after each move, top comment makes the next move. After white and black have made a move, top comment of resign will be respected.

The Kingside bishop had to leave, something to do with beads. Kings asked Knooks to join the starting pieces.

Promotion to Knooks is now possible.

In just under 11 hours the first of two top comments decide next move games will start. Ive gotten blessing from the mod team to host.

Before anyone gets concerned about Spam, im not planning on this being a regular thing here and after each side makes a move, i will honour top comments of "Resign" to end the game.

I will post screenshots of the board, set a 2 minute timer and then take the top legal comment, do the move and make a new post with the updated board position. So it'll be a bit longer than 2 minutes from post to post.

The first one kicks off at 9pm UTC (just under 11 hours from now) and the second one starts 9am UTC to give people from all timezones a chance to play.

The only Anarchy rule in play is promotion to a Knook which has the algebraic letter of "O", but comments like Knook to e5 should work. Knooks look like a rook with a K tattoo.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I plan to make a comment to this post shortly prior to game on.

Over the last few days i've been busy with an IDE and made a fork of an existing Open Source chess game Dreamchess. Their developers have done a great job, but i knew it was missing something. You can now promote to a Knook*

Earlier today I did a clean install of AnarchyChess-DreamyDesktop on a Raspberry pi and that means i now consider the project at version 0.8** ready for some alpha testing. Im hoping to get some input from some top chess minds, who can think more strategically than me at 400ishELO.

I know Garry Chess is hard at work with Chess 2.0, but i wanted to see about sharing some Knook gameplay around, so I'm going to see about hosting some games here on Lemmy with top comment decides format.

Normally i'd do some testing quietly, but it seems to be holding up to everything i'm throwing at it, and we've been waiting so long for a new update to drop. If for some reason it bluescreens, you have my sincerest apologies and promise to implement the bugfix. I might even give myself a bricking.

The plan would be to have something like a 3 minute increment game with a 2 hour game window where i take the top comment, make the move in the board, and make a new post here with the updated positioning. With lag, the top move will be taken something like 2min30s after the post is made. The increments open for discussion, but i think 30 seconds for me to do the move, take a screenshot and make a new post is about right.

If one game finishes, i can see about starting another, possibly with reduced time.

People would be requested to choose and stick to a side, but i cant see it being enforced. If you're a titled player and have a friend as a titled player, please consider choosing to play on opposing sides rather than everyone possibly playing both sides.

To try and be available to as many people worldwide, I plan to host a game at 9pm UTC one day and then another 12 hours later. If everything stays good, ive got 9pm UTC 35.5 hours from now pencilled in.

  • Other moves like Il Vaticano and Bishops going on vacation have been considered, but i chose to make a complete something rather than try to make a partial something and not finish.

**Version 0.9 is after its received widespread playtesting and a 1.0 release will happen when some bugfixes (not gameplay releated) and better artwork is done.

Code is currently available with GPLv3 license at https://github.com/PossibleEmuWrangler/AnarchyChess-DreamyDesktopPrototype but the repository for future release will change. Downloading and compiling is not needed to participate here, i'll be posting screenshots of board updates and moves will be done in the comments.

Algebraic notation for Knook will be O. Please let me know if you have any questions.

P.s. If somehow a titled player active in the media chooses to play with their own OTB set following gameplay, i'd love to see a photo of them with carefully, cautiously planning their next move linked after.

p.p.s K tattoo for the Knook is going to be bigger.

...
Ok, I did it, I made the fucking board 3D... I can't believe I had to learn how to use blender for a silly meme chess game lmao

The ice age continues.

Used 3D models:

A while ago i made a post about making an AnarchyChess implementation. I just finished uploading something to github and felt it was worth a post.

I created a fork of DreamChess where you can promote to a Knook.

The code is still very much in Alpha testing phase, and i plan to make another post here when there is more playtesting and build process is better.

I would call the current version at 0.7 as there are still a few things to iron out, but a complete 1.0 release is being planned and i'll likely make another post asking for assistance with artwork (PNG and 3d modelling in .dcm file format)

Future enhancements like Bishop going on vacation are being considered, but well on the horizon. The first release of AnarchyChess-DreamyDesktop will just allow promoting to a Knook and be humans vs humans.

for a link to the github respository, and if you have any specific questions and issues with getting it to run, please comment at https://lemmy.world/post/2369443

I'm not sure about being able to get answers to "can i build this on my system", but if you can download and build Dreamchess from the source, i'd love if people could have a look and playtest and give feedback. Thanks.

That took a while lmao, hopefully I didn't miss anything
Looks like I've finally reached the upload limit of this instance and had to upload as JPG, I have all the original PNGs and will upload then at some point, maybe on IPFS?

Rest of the pieces are confused because they cant see him
There are pawn mine under zucc but they can't see him so they didn't explode

That was truly painful to edit, hopefully I didn't miss anything
And I fixed the UV light effect on the mold

I was wondering if there was anyone who would be interested in making an Open Source version of AnarchyChess. IE, take some specific rules like Siberian Swipe, Il Vaticano, Knight Boost, alpha beta decay, il vaticannon etc and modify an existing open source game (and engine) to play to these rules. Of course En Passant is forced and friendly fire may be turned on.

The new game would be hosted on github and probably be a fork of DreamChess for desktop or GCompris for android (or if someone knows something better that can be used on both Android and Apple, then im open to suggestions).

The first "deliverable" would be to enable people to play on a single shared device, then maybe see about adding some sort of algebraic notation to allow playing by correspondence.

Edit: At the core of this project would be open source, IE: program would be free to download, build and play, no accounts, no ads. This is not something I, or anyone else who would be working on would be looking to monetise. As part of accepting the upstream license of using the code, we always have to make the code available.

What are peoples thoughts ? Any other questions ?
