An Orlando police officer appeared in court Tuesday for the first time since he was speeding away from a Seminole County deputy during a traffic stop.

Instead of being arraigned this afternoon there was a deal made by prosecutors. Officer Alex Shaouni could have all of the serious charges dropped if he completes a pretrial diversion program.

Shouni is charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer, resisting an officer and two misdemeanor charges of unlawful speed and reckless driving from the traffic stop in Oviedo on June 6.

SOMERSET — Suspended Somerset County District Attorney Jeffrey Thomas II was sentenced to 24 to 84 months in state prison Thursday by Senior Judge Timothy Creany in a sexual assault case.

He was ordered by the judge to pay $1,900 in fines, register as a sex offender for 15 years and be credited 157 days for time served.

Thomas was not assessed as a sexually violent predator by the Sexual Offender Assessment Board. Because of the conviction of indecent assault, however, he is considered a sexual offender by law and must register as such.

The assertion that 79-year-old John Wayne Stone has been in a position of authority and trust as a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy and jailer didn’t help the now former officer of the law get a reduced sentence in the continuous sexual abuse of a child case for which he pleaded guilty before the Aug. 14 sentencing hearing. Despite Stone’s attorney, Scott Renick, arguing that his client’s prior service to the community deserved leniency, 252nd District Court Judge Raquel West was more angered by Stone’s fall from grace than persuaded to grant leniency to an alleged lawman who admitted raping a 6-year-old child under his care.

Furthermore, The Examiner has uncovered, the pedophile’s service record is, at best, exaggerated; and, at worst, a total farce.

A Nottinghamshire Police officer has been dismissed by the force after attempting to form a relationship with a domestic abuse victim. Sergeant Nicholas Sakkal-Appleby, who was a police constable at the time, was found guilty of gross misconduct at a public hearing on Monday, August 14.

Sakkal-Appleby had visited the home of a victim of domestic violence in January 2012, but after this he continued to contact the victim despite having no involvement in the case. The hearing was told the officer’s behaviour was inappropriate as contact was not for policing purposes and was done with the aim of establishing an improper relationship with her.

OAKLAND — A group of people who spent time incarcerated at FCI Dublin have sued the now infamous all women federal prison, alleging that the ongoing sexual abuse scandal there came as a result of prison officials missing or flat-out ignoring warning signs for decades.

The suit, led by the California Coalition for Women Prisoners, alleges that sexual assault has long been a rampant problem at FCI Dublin, but that those responsible were able to avoid serious consequences until recently. In addition to the CCWP — a nonprofit that advocates for education over incarceration — eight alleged sexual assault victims are listed as the plaintiffs.

The suit accuses the Bureau of Prisons of failing to do enough to prevent sexual abuse at the prison, despite serious incidents going back to the 1990s. And it notes that when authorities finally started investigating the crimes, it was the FBI and Department of Justice, not the Bureau of Prisons, that led the probe.

Dash camera footage shows Delaware State Police officers conspiring to manufacture a traffic charge for a man who flipped them off as well as the officers musing on video about locking the man up, impounding his dog and having the state take guardianship of his child.

The dash camera video was released as part of an ongoing lawsuit Smyrna resident Jonathan Guessford is pursuing against state police officers for destroying a sign he made to warn drivers about their speed trap and charging him with a nonsense traffic infraction when he gave them the middle finger.

His charge was ultimately dropped, but he sued afterward, claiming the officers knowingly trampled his constitutional rights. Below is a rundown of what the new footage shows and what state police leadership said − and did − about the incident.

Supposedly they did conduct a DUI investigation, but it was all in the car. They never brought him out onto the curb like they’re supposed to. There’s a whole process, a policy, everything. So there’s a whole process. The policy, there’s a very legal way to conduct a DUI investigation and they refuse to take this man out of the car. Because god forbid we get video of him passing it for fun.

And so they opened the door, he was still in the car and they were doing kind of that eye test. I think they looked for your eye. I mean when you do it for as long as they were doing it, I mean like he said too, we have so… The raw video is so long. I mean we cut out all this stuff because how many times do you have to put a light in a man’s face? Oh, okay.

Sergeant’s going to come over and confirm. He’s like I didn’t quiver. So then they have another and it’s like we were kind of being like, Hey, what do you? Is this your DUI investigation in car without him even standing up?
