The First Two Captured Chinese Citizens

Today, investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) spoke with the first two Chinese nationals captured while fighting in Ukraine. We are currently verifying all facts regarding the presence of these and other Chinese citizens within the ranks of the Russian occupying army. Ukrainian intelligence is also actively working on this matter.

As of now, we have confirmed data on over 150 Chinese citizens who have been recruited by Russia to fight in the war against Ukraine. We know the real number is higher. Ukraine views Russia’s open involvement of Chinese citizens in combat on Ukrainian territory as a deliberate step toward expanding the war.

This is yet more proof that Moscow is simply trying to prolong the fighting. Russia doesn’t care who dies in this senseless war—it only cares that the war continues.

What we all need—all partners, all responsible members of the international community—is for Russia to lose the ability to continue this war, especially through the use of foreign nationals like these.

"30 Minutes Before" - Mother of Girl Who Survived Attack on Krivoy Rog Shows How Children Played Before the Attack

Maria, the mother of little Afina, posted a video on social media that was filmed half an hour before the tragic attack on Krivoy Rog on April 4. The footage shows children playing peacefully on a playground until a missile landed there. “Afina and I miraculously survived. Out of everyone who was there,” the woman wrote. However, they were both injured.

The video also shows 3-year-old Timofey, footage of whom being resuscitated was widely shared online. He did not survive. At the time of the explosion, the boy and his grandmother were returning home from the playground.

On April 4, Russia launched a missile strike on Krivoy Rog, killing 20 people, including 9 children. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that the strike was aimed at “a meeting of Ukrainian commanders and Western instructors.”

Ukraine spent $62,500 on lobbying efforts in the U.S. in 2024, seven times less than Russia's $461,200, according to data published by the Ukrainian analytics platform Opendatabot on April 9.

We met with representatives of Ukrainian and Belgian defense companies together with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever. We reviewed Ukrainian-made products: reconnaissance and strike UAVs, ground robotic systems, and naval drones.

We’re proud that our industry has contributed so significantly to defending Ukraine. All these “birds” are very important to us — and very dangerous for the Russians.

We also discussed the development of Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex, the potential for joint production, and localizing operations in Ukraine. Today, documents were signed outlining cooperation between the defense companies of our countries.

New projects between our industries, private sectors, and governments are crucial for our joint production and for the future security of all of Europe.

⚡️Successful Hit!⚡️ On April 7, 2025, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully struck and destroyed the command post of the 81st Self-propelled Artillery Regiment of the enemy's armed forces in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.

Thanks to the professional skills of Ukrainian pilots, the concrete building was completely destroyed. Casualties are currently being clarified, but 20-30 occupiers were eliminated.

This strike has seriously undermined the enemy units’ ability to conduct combat operations in the area.

The pilots of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue to deliver devastating strikes to the enemy until the occupier withdraws from the sovereign territory of Ukraine.

To be continued…

Glory to Ukraine!

After our operation in Kursk Oblast, the Russians "drew conclusions": they reinforced all borders to prevent another breakthrough elsewhere. In Belgorod Oblast, they spent over 10 billion rubles on "modern and reliable fortifications"...

What's with the face, Russians?

A high-profile former Ukrainian commander has called for the head of the country’s military to step aside, accusing him of a lack of strategic imagination and putting Ukrainian soldiers’ lives at risk with “borderline criminal” orders.

Bohdan Krotevych, who quit as the chief of staff of the Azov brigade in February partly so he could speak out, said he believed that armed forces commander, Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi, “must go” and Ukraine’s military leadership must be shaken up.

“The general staff ordered that when a soldier’s shift [on he frontline] is over, they can’t rest in the rear, they have to rest 50 metres from the front,” Krotevych said, which he added was typically at a platoon forward observation base.

Forcing soldiers to recover so close to the front put “all these people in grave danger”, he argued. He accused the army command of being “criminally guilty of not understanding the principles of war right now” and in particular “how FPV drones work, how glide bombs work”.

At a time when reducing imports and building national capacity is become ever more important, Ukraine has achieved what seemed impossible: producing drones using entirely locally made components. This gives them an unrivalled ability to develop and mass produce drones to their exact requirements. More surprising is the cost. Rather than adding a premium, by building locally the Ukrainians are actually undercutting Chinese makers.

Our military captured two Chinese citizens who fought in the Russian army. This happened on the territory of Ukraine - in the Donetsk region. There are documents of these prisoners, bank cards, personal data.

We have information that there are significantly more Chinese citizens in the units of the occupier than two. We are currently clarifying all the facts. Intelligence, the SBU, and the relevant units of the Armed Forces are working.

I instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to immediately contact Beijing and find out how China is going to react to this.

Russia's involvement, directly or indirectly, in this war in Europe is a clear signal that Putin is going to do anything, except end the war. He is looking for a way to continue fighting. This definitely requires a reaction. A reaction from the United States, Europe, and everyone in the world who wants peace.

The captured Chinese citizens are in the Security Service of Ukraine.

Relevant investigative and operational actions are underway.
