Hundreds of thousands of people from different Ukrainian cities are still on waiting lists for social housing; some have been on it since the 60s of the last century. Even though the very notion of “a waiting list for apartments” was inherited from the USSR, these lists are not getting any shorter, as one would expect; instead, they are growing ever longer.

About 70 thousand people are applying for free housing only in Kyiv; as for Lviv, in May 2025, the list includes almost 29 thousand people.

Both in Soviet times and now, the system of waiting lists for housing has been a field for corruption because the willing people are many, yet free housing is extremely scarce. The scheme, described in this material, looks like the very system envisaged its availability.

The people on the waiting list of the Lviv city council have been registered in it for decades, and the list is hardly moving. In five recent years, only two people from the total waiting list for apartments have received housing in Lviv. And then, all of a sudden, some people are given apartments free of charge, as if temporarily, and their place on the main waiting list is kept. Then, these people privatize these “temporary” apartments and re-register them with the relatives of the official who has made up this scheme.

Let’s throw in a bit of victory — we were looking for one thing, but found something even better.

DIU sea drones and a historic battle in the Black Sea.

On December 31, 2024, fighters of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine's special unit “Group 13” became the first in the world to destroy an aerial target using a Magura V5 sea drone equipped with missile armament.

We all remember that video and the whining of Russian war correspondents about “nikagda takoy bol’shoy poteri ne byla” (they’re squealing again — because in the early days of the invasion, you were getting wrecked nonstop).

And recently, information surfaced confirming the death of 15 pilots and crew members that day.

Solid numbers. Magura and Sea Baby — the best unmanned sea drones in the world. They've taken out most of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, helicopters, aircraft, and now serve as effective platforms for kamikaze UAVs.

Big thanks to DIU and the SSU for your work.

Our unplanned ensemble performance happened in a train car when we were already returning from the contest in Truskavets. We just wanted to share a piece of Ukrainian song on the way. Because when you enter the wagon with such "luggage", many people are surprised and don't understand what we carry - so we decided to introduce people to the live sound of bandura.

Some of the passengers said they heard the bandura only on TV or radio, and live - never. But not everyone liked our idea: one woman got angry, called first the conductor and then the train chief. And you know what? Instead of banning, we got permission to perform the song.

And she has spoken out. Sincerely, from the heart, as always. Because music is not an obstacle. This is a touch to the soul.

Thank you for such employees

Dubna — and not just a hit, but a direct strike on the Dubna Machine-Building Plant named after N. P. Fedorov (DMZ)

N. P. Fedorov specializes in the development of aviation and missile technology.

JSC “Dubna Machine-Building Plant named after N. P. Fedorov” is also known as the 30th Plant (or “30th Postal Box”).

On August 18, 2008, OJSC “DMZ-Kamov” was renamed to JSC “Dubna Machine-Building Plant named after N. P. Fedorov.”

Former names include:
— OJSC “DMZ-Kamov”;
— Dubna Machine-Building Plant (AOOT “DMZ”);
— Experimental Plant No. 30;
— Plant No. 458;
— Experimental Plant No. 1 (OPZ-1).

Initially, in the 1930s, the plant produced seaplanes. During the war, production was evacuated. Later, the plant manufactured experimental aircraft (including the first MiG-25 prototype) and, under the Raduga Design Bureau, air-to-surface cruise missiles such as the “Moskit” anti-ship missile.

Today, the plant produces aviation equipment including the two-seat aerobatic aircraft Su-29, the multipurpose “Dubna” aircraft, the R-50 amphibious aircraft, and other light aviation models.

Among the Ukrainians repatriated in a “1,000-for-1,000” prisoner exchange were former convicts already awaiting deportation in immigration detention centres; not a single fighter from the Azov Brigade was included. Mediazona has spoken with participants, relatives of prisoners of war, and lawyers defending Ukrainians in Russian courts about this and other aspects of the largest prisoner swap since the full-scale invasion began.
