A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I give her all my love and money just for an ounce of attention and she'll run away if I love her too much

I remember the first time when I was a kid and went to a dentist. I got my baby teeth pulled without anesthesia. It hurts, ALOT. At the time I remembered thinking: But if I die, I have to do that again? Noooooo

Same thing with all the bullying in school, all the embarassing things that happen, all the homework/classwork, all the tests, everything.

IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN!

Think you got your worldview and political ideology correct? Well, you could become a bad person the next life.

(but hey, this is just a theory, ~~a game theory~~ an existential crisis theory)

(Sorry if this sounds so bizzare, I'm not high or anything, I just have anxiety and I have to get weird thoughts out of my head by posting it 🫠)

As a human, I wouldn't want to say it, but as a cringy dad, I would feel compelled.

We all perceive ourselves as the main character, and that leads some people to think bad accidents won't happen to them

…we (me and my family members) think in terms of fractions when dealing with large numbers and differences when the numbers are small.

If a country needs to overly emphasise an ideal, that's usually because that ideal doesn't apply in that country ("Land of the free", "Democratic people's republic of ...").

If a person needs to subscribe to patriotism, it's usually because they have never accomplished anything better in their life than being born in a specific place.

“A good compromise is when both parties are dissatisfied and the rest satisfied."

Bonus: and that likely explains why older shows tend to have self-contained episodes while newer shows tend to be serial.

And it would be in a properietary format only accessible in a walled garden

Was playing online and saw someone with the name "Content" but the n was replaced with a Russian character. This makes it unsearchable (directly) in both English and Russian.

"Fear of missing out" is used to explain why people use social media items they don't need nor want. But marriage is an example too.

I know there is wholesome cases where people want to start a family with other people they like to spend time with.

But a lot of the times it was also "Hey I am of the age my siblings and friends got married. I should meet people with the sole goal of marrying them and raising children."

Merriam defines

So hate is just the extreme end of an "unfriendly feeling" which is synonymous to a negative feeling. We can go "golden middle" on this and say that moderate negative feelings are ideal, but even the moderate form seems synonymous to bias or prejudice.

More of a "waiting while cloud flare verifies my humanity thought" but this is the closest c/ I could find.
