Should I be using a VPN for slsk?

for some reason the devs of stremio seem adamant about not adding a bind feature so im hoping theres an alternative of some kind that does have this feature or if theres an application that i can use to force it to not send any data if my vpn is not on.

I dont want to use a vpn with a killswitch because that impacts other applications

ideally a cross platform desktop application

Well it seems that my account from google has been banned from playing music on any app or website all because I wanted do download everything on my liked list.

Everything I try now says content unavailable. Ugh 3 years of curating content just gone. Getting the account information only helps subscriptions, not the liked songs.

The main reason I liked YouTube's music is the supermix feature. I'm hardly ever in the mood for one genre of music, which Spotify only seems to randomize for you.

I know Spotube is available but that's essentially Spotify's front end using YouTube for the actual media.

I can't go back to anything that bombards me with ads or annoying DJs.

For me, fitgirl installer does not work with wow64 (where you do not have to install 32 bit libraries). I had earlier also tried with wine-wow64 package from chaotic aur repo, and it did not used to work back then, and now arch linux has made the default wine package wow64 version. This has benefits (smaller package size, you can disable mulitlib repo, etc), but now installer does not work. It gets stuck as soon as any decompression is about to begin. And to me not much is clear. My guess is the freearc compression that fitgirl uses, its decompressor does nto work in wow64. Has anyone else tried for whom it works? Maybe I have to add a separate dll for this and create a override. Fitgirl faq does not mention it (probably since wow64 is still relatively new).

If this is not a right community for this, then sorry, I do not know of a better one. (wine team would not handle requests related to pirated installers, fitgirl or related communities in general do not do linux much, and of them, only a small fraction would be using wow64)

For testing purposes, You can grab almost any installer, I went and sorted by size (smallest first) and got it, and it does not work. (I am not going to provide link here for somewhat obvious reasons)

For occasional torrent creation, qBittorrent has Tools > Torrent Creator, but suppose one has hundreds of folders from which to create individual torrents. A quick internet search yields forum posts from more than ten years ago mentioning dead projects. For example, this Reddit post from 2013 mentions qMakeTorrent, which is no longer maintained.

How are people doing this in 2025? I reckon one could write a bash or python script for this, but are there any user friendly tools out there that are built for this purpose and still actively maintained?

One has a folder of original content that they'd like to share/upload across the multiple private trackers that they're a member of. In qBittorrent, there's Tools > Torrent Creator, with various fields and a "Create Torrent" button. The "Tracker URLs" field accepts multiple URLs.

When creating the new torrent file(s), does one add the announce URLs for all their private trackers and then click Create Torrent (a single torrent file for all trackers), or is it best to only include one announce URL at a time (a separate torrent for each tracker)? Thanks.

So I'm learning Japanese and I'd love to have more practice material, but from what I can tell most (maybe all) of the manga available from the several sites I checked on the Megathread wiki only had translated books. Many languages, tbf, but I could not find the original Japanese anywhere. Am I just missing it or is there a particular source I should look at for untranslated books?

Also as a corollary, anyone have a good source for visual novels in Japanese?

Does anyone have any tips for finding DVD/Blu-ray special features? I primarily use Prowlarr as my indexer aggregator, but when I search for something like <movie name> special features, I usually come up empty. I'm not sure if there's a specific indexer that's more likely to include them or if I'm just out of luck.

I think first it was KissAnime, then GogoAnime, then finally Anitaku. .ru, .to, .bz, I forget where else it's been. Did Daddy Don seize it? Thanks. Sports rightsholders have revised their calls for illegal streams to be taken down inside 30 mins. It must now happen much more quickly, with the word 'immediately' given the thumbs up. How much of this additional pressure is bargaining strategy isn't clear, but in site-blocking countries like Italy, the UK, and Canada, detecting pirate infrastructure isn't a last minute effort. Many targets earmarked for blocking are identified not just hours in advance, but in some cases days earlier.

Does anybody else get this message when trying to access articles?

I've updated bypass paywall and it's made no difference. I've also disabled my vpn and emptied my cache to little avail.

How do we get around this new problem please?

There is a trend currently were fan translaters are paywalling the latest chapters, with poor translations. What are your thoughts on this? I don't mind asking for donations, but asking for money with mediocre translation is scammy.

As some of you may know, a new bittorrent tracker/site platform built with Rust/VueJS is in the works. Here is the announcement and a progress report.

When this started, my motivation was high and things went fast. I'm still very motivated to bring arcadia to a production-ready level, but I need at least 1 other "core" dev to work with me. Since this is a community project, I'm not expecting instant replies, daily commits, etc. But a buddy to share the pain and the fun with :) we are humans after all, social beings! Some people already made very nice contributions (and I thank you all again!), but it's not the same as having someone who knows the codebase well, can take informed decisions, etc.

Although my version of Bypass hasn't been updated for over a year, it has been working fine.

But my latest attempt to read the New York Times indicates that it has been detected and/or blocked.

When I try to update it via https://gitflic.ru/ I can't seem to manually update it either. Firefox says the file is corrupt when I drag it into the browser or update (add) file via settings.

I'm assuming it's because it's a zip file but when I unzip the folder there are no files in there that firefox recognises for me to add (only a changelog, licence and readme).

Can someone please clarify - for me and anyone else likely to encounter similar issues in the future - what I might be doing wrong.

I'm trying to find a cracked version of Tableau Desktop, but none of the DDL sites I looked at in the megathread had it. 1337x has some older versions, but I'm not sure if I trust them.

I had downloaded and installed the 2020.1.3 release on 1337x by FTUApps, but apparently they're unsafe since they released an infected crack a couple years ago. Is that specific release, dated two years before that announcement, safe? I only installed the application itself without implementing the crack file before seeing the announcement, but I did of course have to run it as admin, so I imagine I'm safe if potential malware is only in the crack file but infected if it's in the installer.

Either way, what's the most recent crack of Tableau that can be trusted?

The French Senate has passed a new anti-piracy bill that opens the door to automated IP-address blocking. This legislative push is bolstered by a parallel, "secret" agreement between sports rightsholders and major ISPs, which aims to automate anti-piracy efforts and streamline direct blocking requests. Earlier this week, Japanese manga publisher Shueisha filed a DMCA subpoena application in the U.S., as it continues to pursue the operators of major pirate sites. At the very top of Shueisha's latest list is Mangajikan, a site that appears to have received 185 million visitors in May alone. In Japan, that made Mangajikan more popular than Instagram, Facebook, and ChatGPT. But right now, on what used to be its front page, is a very clear message: Website Closed.
