I downloaded an apk from mobilism and before I install it, how do I go about ensuring it's not malware or an unsafe app? I'm all for buying apps but I hate all these subscriptions...

I'm sure many of you are already aware that YouTube has been rolling out anti-adblock detection for Chrome users for a few weeks now.

Today, as a long time Firefox user with the fantastic uBlock Origin extension installed, I got my first anti-adblock popup on the platform. Note that this may not happen to you personally for a while, but it is inevitably coming for everyone.

Thankfully, the fine folks at uBlock Origin have already advised a simple workaround (on Reddit, yuck!) which I will duplicate in a simplified form below for your convenience. I have tested it on Firefox and it is working fine for me (so far).

PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS POST.

1. Update uBO to the latest version (1.52.0+) . <== The extension itself, for technical improvements. You do this in your browser.

2. Remove your custom config / reset to defaults. <== This means removing your custom filters (or disabling My filters) and disabling ALL additional lists you've enabled. It might be quicker to make a backup of your config and restore to defaults instead.

3. Force an update of your Filter Lists. <== This is within the extension. Lists are what determine what's blocked or not. How to update Filter lists: Click 🛡️ uBO's icon > the ⚙ Dashboard button > the Filter lists pane > the 🕘 Purge all caches button > the 🔃 Update now button.

4. Disable all other extensions AND your browser's built-in blockers. <== No need to uninstall, just disable them. They might interfere with our solutions.

Make sure you follow all 4 points above. If you're seeing the message, it's likely due to your custom config (either additional lists or separate filters in My filters).

Restarting your browser afterwards may help too.

Once you've gotten rid of the issue on default settings, you can slowly start restoring your config (if you really need it). Do it gradually, to easier find out what was causing the issue in the first place. Once you find the culprit, simply skip it in your config.

If you want to use Enhancer for YouTube*, you have to* disable its adblocking*.*

Update

Just wanted to mention a few things that have been pointed out in the comments:

• There are quite a few projects that provide an alternative ad-free front end to YouTube. These include Invidious, FreeTube, LibreTube, Newpipe, Revanced, and I'm sure there are several more options I've missed. I don't have any particular preference really but I routinely use NewPipe on my cellphone just because I tried it once and couldn't be bothered trying all the others.
• In step 4 listed above, to clarify, afaik you only need to remove adblocker extensions (if you have more than one installed) that might conflict with the uBlock Origin rules and trigger the anti-adblock, not all extensions.
• If you hate non-stop ads but want to support your favorite content creators then be sure to give them some love on Patreon or whatever alternative options they provide. Creators typically make only a tiny, tiny fraction of what YouTube makes in ad revenue, assuming YouTube doesn't just outright steal the lot, and it's a shitty business model that's ruining the internet. Even if you watch the ads, you're only supporting YouTube most of the time, not the creators.

ive been using kodi (xbmc was better moniker) since google killed sagetv. i recall attempting plex, but it seemed to lack some open/extensibility (its been awhile).

I will be using Ubuntu server in this guide. You can select whatever linux distro you prefer.

Download ubuntu server from https://ubuntu.com/download/server. Create a bootable USB drive using rufus or any other software(I prefer ventoy). Plug the usb on your computer, and select the usb drive from the boot menu and install ubuntu server. Follow the steps to install and configure ubuntu, and make sure to check "Install OpenSSH server". Don't install docker during the setup as the snap version is installed.

Once installation finishes you can now reboot and connect to your machine remotely using ssh.

Jackett is where you define all your torrent indexers. All the *arr apps use the tornzab feed provided by jackett to search torrents.

There is now an *arr app called prowlarr that is meant to be the replacement for jackett. But the flaresolverr(used for auto solving captchas) support was added very recently and doesn't work that well as compared to jackett, so I am still sticking with jackett for meantime. You can instead use prowlarr if none of your indexers use captcha.

Jellyfin

I personally only use jellyfin because it's completely free. I still have plex installed because overseerr which is used to request movies and tv shows require plex. But that's the only role plex has in my setup.

For the media volume you only need to provide access to the /data/media directory instead of /data as jellyfin doesn't need to know about the torrents.

Transcoding

As I mentioned in the jellyfin section there is a section in the conmpose file as "devices". It is used for transcoding. If you don't include that section, whenever transcoding happens it will only use CPU. In order to utilise your gpu the devices must be passed on to the container.

Generally, the devices are same for intel gpu transcoding.

Add a few indexers to jackett using the "add indexer" button. You can see the indexers I use in the image below.

Qbittorrent

Navigate to YOUR_SERVER_IP:8080

The default username is admin and password adminadmin. You can change the user and password by going to Tools → Options → WebUI

Change "Default Save Path" in WebUI section to /data/torrents/ and "Keep incomplete torrents in" to /data/torrents/incomplete/

Create categories by right clicking on sidebar under category. Type category as TV and path as tv. Path needs to be same as the folder you created to store your media. Similarly for movies type Movies as category and path as movies. This will enable to automatically move the media to its correct folder.

Sonarr

Navigate to YOUR_SERVER_IP:8989

• Under "Download Clients" add qbittorrent. Enter the host as YOUR_SERVER_IP port as **8080,** and the username and password you used for qbittorrent. In category type TV (or whatever you selected as category name(not path) on qbittorent). Test the connection and then save.
• Under indexers, for each indexer you added in Jackett
  • Click on add button
  • Select Torzab
  • Copy the tornzab feed for the indexer from jackett
  • Copy the api key from jackett
  • Select the categories you want
  • Test and save
• Under general, define the root folder as /data/media/tv

Repeat this process for Radarr, Lidarr and readarr.

Use /data/media/movies as root for Radarr and so on.

The setup for ombi/overseerr is super simple. Just hit the url and follow the on screen instructions.

Bazarr

Navigate to YOUR_SERVER_IP:6767

Go to settings and then sonarr. Enter the host as YOUR_SERVER_IP port as 8989. Copy the api key from sonarr settings→general.

Similarly for radarr, enter the host as YOUR_SERVER_IP port as 7878. Copy the api key from radarr settings→general.

Jellyfin

Go to YOUR_SERVER_IP:8096

• Add all the libraries by selecting content type and then giving a name for that library. Select the particular library location from /data/media. Repeat this for movies, tv, music, books and audiobooks.
• Go to dashboard→playback, and enable transcoding by selecting as VAAPI and enter the device as /dev/dri/renderD128

Monitor GPU usage while playing content using

sudo intel_gpu_top

Heimdall

Navigate to YOUR_SERVER_IP:8090

Setup all the services you use so you don't need to remember the ports like I showed in the first screenshot.

Updating docker images

With docker compose updates are very easy.

• Navigate to the compose file directory ~/server/compose/media-server.
• Then docker-compose pull to download the latest images.
• And finally docker-compose up -d to use the latest images.
• Remove old images by docker system prune -a

What's next

• You can setup VPN if torrents are blocked by your ISP/Country. I wanted to keep this guide simple and I don't use VPN for my server, so I have left out the VPN part.
• You can read about port forwarding to access your server over the internet.

This app has an easy downloader of music and music albums from Youtube Music, so it's definitely an awesome piracy tool.

I wonder how upload is allocated between peers in a private tracker. I noticed that I systematically upload much less than most of the other seeding peers (according to the stats available for a given torrent in the private tracker), even if I am among the first to get a torrent. I also noticed that my max upload speed is much less (e.g. 2MB/s) than what I get with speedtest (e.g. 7MB/s), and it often oscillates between low and high values. I was wondering, is there anything I can do to provide a larger share of upload bandwidth? Does the choice of a torrent client matter? Should I change any specific config? How can I diagnose any bottlenecks from my side? Or is it something completely outside my control? Thanks!

I'm using OpenClash in my router to make shit version of Tor network. I'm using 4 different VPSs to access the internet. It is wonderfull to be able to tell which connection go through what site, or using all of those VPSs to access the internet simultaneously using load-balance method.

Hey there, I need the techies among you: I got an Arr stack running on a VPS with lots of storage, but have my Audiobookshelf set up on my regular VPS where it has been running for quite a while now. So I'd like to keep it where it is basically and mount the audiobooks folder from Readarr in the torrent VPS into my other VPS. Since Readarr uses Hard Links and Audiobookshelf streams the files: what would your approach be and which protocol would you use for that?

I've always had the plans to rent or own a seedbox. A few days ago I finally had a server for myself. It's got a good connection speed, so I was wondering what I should seed.

Until now I've used a linux install and vpn software (airvpn and eddie) when sailing the high seas. While this works well enough, there is always room for improvement.

I am in the process of setting up a docker stack which so far contains gluetun/airvpn and qbittorrent. Here is my compose file:

My first problem was related to the ip adress. For some reason, when I use an IPV6 adress, I got this error in gluetun:

Well, I removed that IPV6 and now everything works. Does anyone have a fix? :)

Now for the important part. I tested the setup with a linux iso and to my surprise - everything works. When I used ipleak.net or other websites, these websites only detect the ip from my vpn. Great.

Do I need to take any other precautions? I also bound the network interface tun0 in the qbit webui, just to be sure. When I stop the gluetun container, the webui stops working (as it should, but it is hard to check, if the download also stops). I'm just a bit paranoid because I don't want to pay coin when downloading all the isos my heart desires.

Having already configured a VLC-powered Google TV configuration with USB hard drives for a relative without the router or download speed needed for reliable streaming, I'm now trying to configure a similar setup for another relative with a non-smart TV and an even slower download speed.

The only requirements for such a device would be the ability to be controlled entirely with a remote, a USB-A or USB-C port compatible with USB hubs and media storage devices, and the reliable playback of videos of assorted codecs and file extensions. As Roku, FireTV, and Android/Google TV streaming sticks tend to be plastered with ads as a means of promoting content within their ecosystems, an alternative HDMI device that minimizes the number of button presses between turning on the TV and and reaching the navigation menu for videos on attached USB storage devices would be preferred.

Does anybody know of a way past their paywall? thanks.
