I have been doing torrents + VPN for years now and thinking about switching.

Is usenet and debrid safe to use without a VPN in the UK? What about other piracy streaming sites?

From what I understand it's cheaper to use a VPN than have debrid + usenet + private indexers but I am not sure.

I have heard some questionable justifications as to why it's safer such as it being encrypted (torrents can also be encrypted). Are the index sites also safe? I have heard it both ways about this. Including people saying index sites are not encrypted which they normally are.

I suspect piracy will become increasingly popular in these countries

Should I be concerned before I share a video I downloaded from a site I needed to log in to with a username and password? Does the file I have include data that references my account? If so is there away to remove it before I share it?

Signed I am tired of feeling like I don't contribute to the community.

Does anyone have a good source for digitized comics in bulk? I'm tired of paying the corpos for subscriptions and in a dreamworld I'd find the whole backlogs by publisher in decent resolution and format.

I’m looking to go into Usenet / premiumize / real Debrid but I don’t know which ones are reputable. Which ones have you all had luck with or liked? And what was the cost?

So I Use SmartTube for fire stick And Newpipe for Android

Has anyone else experienced issues lately with crashing and videos being unable to finish? Both applications have been giving me issues lately is this YT trying to crack down on cracked apps?

Hello all,

I've heard many times that IRC can be incredibly useful for piracy, but I've never tried using it. Can someone recommend some IRC servers that I could join? I'm especially interested in joining servers that distribute TV shows.

Thank you!

I know this technically doesn't really qualify as !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com, but I figured if anybody on Lemmy would know, it's you guys.

I have some old DVDs that never got a proper Blu-ray release. With all the fuzz about and the recent advancements in AI, what is the definitive best way to upscale to 1080p in 2023?

Does anybody know anybody at shareisland.org (an Italian/international private tracker) and could forward the message in the title to their web dev(s)? I would really like to apply but something goes wrong in the html of the registration/application page. The web console shows some errors but not sure what to make of them. I couldn't find any contact so I tried here just in case. Thanks!

The release of qBittorrent v4.6.0 stable comes with I2P support. While experimental, we can still get a working torrent setup using qBittorrent now. qBittorrent-nox is the Web-UI only version, and currently it does not have configuration settings in the Web-UI for I2P settings. This guide will show you how to setup qBittorrent-nox and manually change the qBittorrent.conf file to allow for I2P torrenting!

Guide can be found here: https://strict3443.codeberg.page/i2p-info/hugo/public/posts/how-to-use-i2p-on-qbittorrent-nox/

strikeout.im and cricfree.io work great for LIVE sports, but if I can't watch it live, and want to watch later, I've missed it.

Some really major events show up on torrent sites, but not reliably.

Slightly confusing, and not necessarily directly piracy-related. I run OpenVPN on my Netgear router that allows me to connect to devices on my home network while I am away from home. It works great for most devices, but I cannot connect to any devices that are running Mullvad VPN. Disabling Mullvad on those devices allows me to connect. Also, if I SSH into a device that does not run Mullvad, I can use that SSH session to then communicate with those Mullvad devices. Any ideas?

I am almost done building my first self hosted streambox through Docker. That's a total of 16 instances, each fulfilling 1 specific role.

As I'm new to the *arr world, could you please help me understand why it is standard to deploy multiple *arr services for each media type (ex: readarr1 for books + readarr2 for audiobooks) instead of using 1 that does multiple media types?

Thank you.

I am using ProtonVPN, and have (or so I thought) set up qBittorrent to bind to the network interface that ProtonVPN is using (tun0). The connection symbol turns red if I turn off the VPN, and downloads will stop. However, when checking the torrent address on ipleak.net, it seems that this bind is not working properly - my real IP shows up after I have disconnected my VPN. I thought that there shouldn't be any connections made when traffic is not via the tun0 interface, so that my real IP should never be known by the detection tool. Am I wrong?

I have not configured the kill switch, but perhaps I should do so?

This extension is a different one from the 'Bypass Paywalls' one. Earlier, it was available in Firefox add on repos. Now it can be sideloaded. It is available for all major browsers.

Do not kill me, but I was paying for a magazine app, that only yesterday I realized was working flawlessly with this extension despite the site not being a very popular one.

Also, there is a browser based on Firefox, well it's engine Atleast, called 'Smart Cookie Web Preview' on Android that allows side loading of extensions. This allows you to use this extension on Android as well and basically bypass multiple Paywalls on the go.

I'm currently running Nicotine+ on my PC for audio downloading, and it works great. However, if I want to download some music on another device, I have to remote in, download the album I want, and then transfer the files to the other device. Since my mobile reception is not very good where I work, I download music to listen offline very often, so it's a bit tedious.

Instead, is there a web client where I can download files to the server and then to my device locally? I know there are some mobile clients for Android, but I can't find any for iOS, and I don't want to be sharing files off my phone 24/7.

What public indexers do people advise for audio?

I am using Lidarr, so the pool of options is somewhat limited. Naturally it would be preferable to have access to one or two private trackers, such as Redacted or Orpheus, but life is what it is (invites are understandably hard to come by).

I have Mullvad and my torrent app isn't set to split tunnel. Is there any way to verify that traffic is going through Mullvad?

  1. It doesn't make you anonymous. Torrent protocol wasn't designed with anonymity in mind and there are a million ways you're going to leak your actual IP address.
  2. Tor is a TCP only network.
  3. While this doesn't give you the anonymity you wanted, it will hurt the network for other users.
