Seriously this was very surprising. I've been experimenting with GrayJay since it was announced and I largely think it's a pretty sweet app. I know there are concerns over how it isn't "true open source" but it's a hell of a lot more open than ReVanced. Plus, I like the general design and philosophy of the app.

I updated the YouTube backend recently and to my surprise and delight they had added support for SponsorBlock. However, when I went to enable it, it warned me "turning this on harms creators" and made me click a box before I could continue.

Bruh, you're literally an ad-blocking YouTube frontend. What kind of mental gymnastics does it take to be facilitating ad-blocking and then at the same time shame the end-user for using an extension which simply automates seeking ahead in videos. Are you seriously gonna tell me that even without Sponsorblock, if I skip ahead past the sponsored ad read in a video, that I'm "harming the creator"?

So I downloaded Dodi's Sekiro repack and installed it through bottles, but the game does not launch.

Also tried adding the exe file to Heroic, gave me the same result as Bottles.

On windows, I remember this exact repack working perfectly. So maybe they way I installed it in Linux is causing the issue ?

Is it possible to create something where knowing about the thing constitutes copyright infringement?

I downloaded the game files, mounted the .iso files and added the game to setup.exe to my steam library and installed the game under the mountpoint. When i click play in steam i just get back to the installer. Running the SkyrimSe.exe in steam(located in the CODEX directory) doesnt work. I use Arch Linux.

I have a Galaxy Tab S7 and for a trip to Spain I downloaded some stuff to watch on the flight. When I got on the plane none of the stuff downloaded on Disney+ would play. Maybe an issue with downloading to the SD card? I don't know, but regardless Disney offers SD card as a download destination so they should make sure it is working.

So now I'm here pirating a show that should be available to me through a service I pay for. Gabe was right, piracy is a service problem.

Is there a way to access the full page of insider reviews without paying on the site rtings?

I am a long time pirate and i love to download media. (movies and tv series and other media) A problem that i have with the current releases by the scene is that there are only in English. (i don't count Anime)

This is the last view years come better with the movies and series that come from Netflix but there are a large gap with subs but i like to have my cartoons and if possible anime in my local language with Dubbing.

I like to see that the groups in the scene start provide the alternate dubs, I don't mind if this happen on scene releases day of some days later.

This can be include in one mkv file or individual audio files that can easy include in the mkv files.

This is not mean that there are some problems with the size if all the dub track are include.

An solution for this problem is if we can crate of extent a media container that can over write audio channels. May there are more problems but i think this is a matter of time for fixing this.

edit: In the context of my post i speaking about the lack of multiple audio tracks, where subtitles are in a better situation.

I've only seen screen shots so far, but something looks very amiss about all these rips (irrespective of the file size)

This is supposed to be an epic sci-fi blockbuster, but all the posted images appear to look very 'cropped' and/or low res.

Is the film supposed to look like it only takes up half of the available screen?

Obviously Android is clearly a superior platform, but the only device someone I know has is an iPhone, and I want to know if I can recommend them an app to easily do this for them.

I'm on Ubuntu using Firefox browser. I get the notifications from reddit on my desktop. On the top toolbar, there is a bell icon where I can find unread notifications from telegram, firefox (from the sites allowed to send notifications), the package manager (about software updates) ...ect. Whenever someone replies to my post or comment on reddit a notification with sound appears on my desktop, and even if I miss it, I can see it if I click the bell icon on the top toolbar, which has a sign to indicate there is a notification I didn't click.
I'm setting permission for lemmy.dbzer0 to send notifications to "allowed" on Firefox, but I receive nothing. For instance I would forget to check replies to my posts and comments here. And it becomes even worst since I have an account in more than one lemmy instance, so I have to check every one of them for updates on discussions I missed!

I got a DVD, never used with cellophane intact, produced in 1993 on ebay. I thought maybe, since I didn't get a DRM warning, it predated DRM, and I could just copy it to my hard drive, so I did. Both the copy and the DVD are now corrupted and unplayable. I want to fix the DVD then rip it to my hard drive. Googling gives plenty of suggestions for ripping but none for fixing. Please help if you can. Thanks.

I've been on and off been having issues connecting to seeds and peers for anything I download with qbit lately. I have ProtonVPN and I am connected to p2p servers, some torrents are stuck at 0(0) whereas some will be stuck at 0(2817).

I have made sure the port in qbit is set correctly and the interface device, along with opening the port on my router. Ultimately what seems to work is I have to change the port several times, change the interface to ethernet, then back to Proton, then a single download works. Any tips for a fellow pirate?

Where I can upload things for friends and they won't be taken down

Pretty good app, website. I use it for tracking my watch list. It's basically a letterboxd for TV shows and anime.

I have read some stuff about how if you are logged into like your google account while on your VPN you have pretty much given yourself away.

So first, is that accurate?

I just got a mullvad vpn and am using their browser. Created a new lemmy account. And I shut down my other browsers before connecting to the vpn to be on the safe side. Is that necessary? Anything else I need to do to sail the high seas anonymously and safely. I am looking to start finding all the movies that never seem to be on my many streaming services, but want to be safe about it. Thanks

I'm a long-time Transmission user but I just learned that VPN killswitches are a thing (how did it take me so long!?). I would like to try another client which has this feature in case I forget to launch my VPN client before opening Transmission. Does anybody have any recommendations? Deluge? QBittorrent? Or any others?

UPDATE: Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I decided to give qbittorrent a try and have been enjoying it so far.

I followed these steps to bind it to my VPN from on Linux:

1. Pause torrents
2. Connect VPN
3. Open qBittorrent. Go to Preferences, and then Advanced tab
4. Change network interface to tun0. If unsure, disconnect VPN and restart qBittorrent then repeat step 1 to see which interface appears.
5. Restart qBittorrent
6. Test it out on the official kubuntu torrent or your favourite distro from LinuxTracker.org. Turn your VPN on and off while verifying whether it pauses and resumes downloading.
