I don't know about the rest of you, but I love watching the ratio go up on my torrents. Is there anything out there that can take a download percentage, seed ratio, etc from qbittorrent and turn it into a live bar graph (or something more artistic)?

I bought a computer off Kijiji that was from someone who builds them for cheap. I bought it for a plex server.

I recently did a hard drive check, and the hd is getting spotty.

I did a check for windows license and it says it's "retail" with a partial key. I was thinking of buying a new SSD to put in but how do I get a windows key now?

I'm somewhat computer minded but this one I've never dealt with. (I also have no interest in installing Linux right now)

Thanks!

Any way currently to decrypt downloaded pluralsight videos? https://github.com/dhorseman1710/Decrypt-PluralSight-GUI This is taken down, and it was not working with the latest version either way.

Context

Having started out in the world of Napster & Limewire, I've always relied on public sources. It wasn't until in the early '10s that I lucked into a Gazelle-based tracker that was started by some fellow community members. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying enough attention when they closed shop and didn't know how to move elsewhere. Combined with some life circumstances I gave up the pursuit for the time being.

It wasn't until recently that a friend was kind enough to help me get back and introduced me to current state of automation. Over the course of a few months, I've since built up the attached systems. I've been having an absolute blast learning and am very impressed with all of the contributions!

After all of the updates due to BF deals, I put together the attached diagram as it was starting to get too complex to keep all of the interactions in my head. 😅

Setup

  • All of the services run in Docker containers.
  • Each container is a separate Compose file managed by Systemd.
  • The system itself is in a VM running on my home server (both Arch, btw).
  • Tailscale is used for remote access to the local network.
  • ProtonVPN is managed by Gluetun and uses a separate network for isolating services.

Questions

  • What am I missing or can be improved?
  • Is there a better way to document?
  • What do you do differently that might be beneficial?

Thoughts

  • I had Calibre set up at one point, but I really don't like how it tracks files by renaming them. I have been considering trying to automate with the CLI instead, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
  • I've been toying with the idea of creating a file-arr for analyzing disk usage, performing common operations, and exposing a web-based upload/download client so I don't have to mount the volume everywhere.
  • Similarly, I'm interested in a way to aggregate logs/notifications/metrics. I'm aware of Notifiarr, but would prefer a self-hosted version.
  • I just set up Last FM scrobbling so I don't have any data yet. I'm hoping to use that for discovery and if possible, playlist syncing or auto-generation.

Notes

  • Diagram was made using D2lang.
  • Some of the connections have been simplified to improve readability / routing.
  • Some services have been redacted out of an abundance of caution.
  • I know VPN with Usenet isn't necessary, but it's easier to keep it consistent.

Also, thanks for the recommendations to check out deemix/Deezer. That worked really well! 😀

Edit: HQ version of diagram

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/8784338

Copied from an excellent post by sugarw0000kie on that other site. All credit for the guide to them.

Finally messed around with this and didn't see much about it, feel free to remove if breaking any rules

For this to work you'll need prowlarr, qbittorrent, and the other arrs (radarr/sonarr/readarr etc) and of course i2p router. (You could just use prowlarr to simplify searching for things without sonarr/radarr integration, then you’d just need prowlarr/qbittorrent with i2p)

In prowlarr, we need to set up proxy through i2p. So go settings-->general--> click enable proxy

 This seems to work

enter your hostname (default 127.0.0.1) and port 4444 or whatever you have your http proxy set to in your i2p install. Make sure to set the ignored addresses with .com/.net etc (* denotes wildcard), so it won't request non i2p addresses through the router, otherwise i believe it will try to search any of your other indexers through i2p which is probably not good

Now you should be able to add Postman tracker like any other tracker in prowlarr as long as it's able to use your router as the proxy

 aughta come up like this

From here you will need to make sure you have qbittorrent working with i2p. There is a guide floating around for this but to add to that you'll want to get the lt20 version, as the other one (i believe the default download) does not yet offer i2p support

In your i2p router you'll want to make sure your SAM bridge is enabled. Then in qbittorrent go preferences-->connection and enable i2p and put in your router with hostname and port 7656 (i believe that's the default correct me if i'm wrong)

it should look like this, if you don't see this option under "Connection" you probly don't have the lt20 version

Biglybt doesn't seem to have integration with the *arrs, but assuming you have qbittorrent setup with i2p from there it's a matter of going into radarr/sonarr and adding it as a download client like normal.

If you've never done this before, in qbittorrent under Web ui enable the web interface, should be able to leave the ip address blank (or otherwise enter how sonarr/radarr would need to access it) and enter an unused port like 6969. Put in login credentials. go to localhost:6969 or w/e you used and check that you can see the web interface from qbittorrent.

what mine looks like

on sonarr/radarr side, go settings-->download client--> and enter the ip address and port you gave it as well as the username/password. Usually helpful to add a category. Hit the test button to ensure it works

meanwhile in the *arrs

(If you just want to use prowlarr w/o sonarr radarr integration to the steps are the same to connect qbittorrent, just done in prowlarr itself. It can be used like a search engine along with all of your clearnet torrent/usenet indexers this way)

Hope this helps!

I am making a script that can download high quality music files, currently from free-mp3-download.net and slavart.gamesdrive.net. Are there any others? I could look into torrenting things automatically and maybe looking into Lidarr? Not 100% on how that works but any ideas on what else I could add or links to other places I can download high quality music files lmk.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I've found Jackett that could be promising, but still open to other ideas/sites.
EDIT: Thank you all for your responses.

This is my small rant against the 'features' that big streaming services provided vis a vis the convenience of pirating the same thing.

I have a mobile data connection only where the carrier offers me free data for six hours post midnight. I can queue torrents on my phone(Yes, I torrent mainly on phone via Flud for Android) for downloading at night; then transfer the downloaded files to my laptop much later for viewing on a slightly larger screen. I couldn't have done the same with say, Amazon Prime Video. Even if I could get these streaming services to queue at certain time, due to DRM restrictions, the content would only remain playable on phone.

I know, my use case, is very unique and niche since most folks probably already have access to fast broadband networks. But Atleast, piracy, hasn't let go of my hand even for such use cases. I appreciate it.

Also, I am not sure Amazon Prime Video even goes above 720p on Firefox for Linux due to Widevine certification thing; the last time I tried I was running into issues, hence, I stopped bothering with it.

Has anyone used AnyStream from RedFox? If so, do you like it or is it not worth it.

Unfortunately the BBC has decided Australia doesn't get to watch any Doctor Who that was released before 2005 or is a spin-off. So uh, anyone got a plex share or torrent with the lot? Immediate preference is getting the same versions as what is available on iPlayer in the UK, but would settle for DVD rips if that's what's available.

I love my sonarr and radarr setup. But readarr seems to not be working so well. Is there a guide on how to get it to be more reliable in grabbing books? And while I am at it, how do I manage audio AND ebooks?

Hey, I am trying to unlock DLCs for NtB:Shinobi Strikers which has Easy Anti Cheat.

I followed the steps for unlocking listed in AutoCreamApi in csrinru. But when launching the game I get an EAC error telling something of unrecognized dll and essentially doesn't let me boot up the game. Also the DLCs don't appear in the Steam Page so I guess I did something wrong? Or maybe EAC will just not let me? I tried with the "bypassing game-specific protection" option ticked but still doesn't work.

Any ideas how to bypass this? Did I do sth wrong?

What's your approach for NFL games?

Starting to build my library, and ROM size hasn't been an issue now until I got to PS1.

The file sizes aren't MASSIVE, but it's a little annoying to download each individual .CUE/.BIN, and convert to .CHDs.

I looked at some torrents, but they're mostly a mishmash of formats and clearly put together by someone that is not well organized.

For a few years now, I've been using and paying for Deezer, but recently they've started to do away with the features that I preferred about their platform, so I'm wondering of there is any options for me here.

Hey guys, I just had a curiosity on the multiple ways of storaging stuff and how long would that hold, take backing it up to a newer storage after some years out of the table.

So how did this come in my mind, I was just reminiscing about how I used to play games with inserting a CD or Cartridge onto the device and how I miss that flavour.

I would like to do it again, I already like having my games dependancy free (praise mr goldmountain), and I am saving up some money to spend on hoarding possibilities. I would like to know what would have the longest storage life, would burning games into bluray discs be too unhinged or is something I am missing?

Thanks in advance in helping me out witht his brainstorm.

I know the majority opinion is not to do it for various reasons, but basically I started to backup the majority of my dvd collection that I created over the years since I have the time and they were just collecting dust. Turns out though I guess I'm doing it "wrong" or at least not in the original quality since I used handbrake instead of makemkv. I'm already 160 dvds in and about 40 more to go, is it worth, quality wise, going back and actually ripping? Is there a way to compare them? To clairify, I'll be using makemkv from now on for the rest.

Out of the box it can play audio in the background, and now that extensions are available you can block ads as well. You don't really need constantly updating 3rd party clients or questionable firewalls anymore if you just want usable youtube on a phone.

Basically title. Is there some service that can be linked to the *arrs for rating music, discovering trending stuff etc?

You might have seen my lemmy tagginator which I announced here and I explain its purpose in its README.

As I explained there, the purpose is to help introduce discovery and more engagement on lemmy from the microblogging space.

Some things about it.

You can add extra tags

Normally the bot will always tag as #Piracy, but you can add more tags from those supported. The current supported tags are #Torrents, #Arrs, and #Usenet

Feel free to suggest other optional tags

You can skip the Tagginator

Simply put #SkipTagginator in your body to prevent the bot from posting. Use this if you don't think that post should be boosted in discoverability.

You can avoid seeing the bot

I see a lot of people downvoting the bot. Mates, just block the bot account. It's that easy.
