I ripped a mixcloud stream using a great free MediaHuman app (Youtube to Mp3). I now need to rip the desired 6 minute song (in m4a format) from a 2 hour stream. The trouble is: I can't seem to find a decent app to do it.

I tried using a couple of online apps but the file was too large to upload, and I can't seem to find a decent app to use for my iMac anymore.

Do you know of an easy-to-use and/or free music trimmer/cutter app?

thanks

Well hello there, I'm diving into the *arr suite of things currently and am trying to setup everything to my usecase. I think I mostly already understood, how a single quality profile works within itself, like upgrading quality and so on. But what I didn't get yet, why would I want multiple different quality profiles to exist?

I mostly am having this priority list:

  • BluRay 1080p
  • Any 1080p
  • Any <1080p

Would there be a difference of having these three as separate quality profiles or having them within one quality profile? What's the preferred way there (if that's not just dependant on the usecase)?

there are a few magazines available for purchasing on issuu that i wanna access, but in my currency buying all the issues would be unrealistically expensive.

I downloaded a BDMV folder that should be a copy of a six disk box set. All the files seem to be numbered with .#.ext in them. All the files came in one root folder.

Once I organized this into a streams/playlist/clip/meta folders by file type and feed it into makemkv I can only see disk one.

There are also 12 index files called index, index.1 index.2 and so on.

How do I rearrange this to see disk 2-6?

A lot of my files were shitty 480p versions of movies from the Napster days. Now they're all 1080p, with a few 720p exceptions (mainly tv series episodes). All in all 500 something files in total. Now just watching uTorrent slowly download them all. Hopefully my VPN keeps the eyes off of me...

Yesterday there was a controversial movie torrent that was getting 1000s of downloads and was on the "popular this week" page, and today it's just gone. I went to the uploader's account page and it's not there either. Just like it never existed.

I'm SUPER curious of the story behind what happened. Did the uploader take it down? 1337? Why?

EDIT: The movie was Lady Ballers 2023 (wasn't sure if I was allowed to say) I did a little more research, and I think the copy the uploader put out was YTS but I don't think they were affiliated with them. Maybe YTS told them to take it down? The movie is on their (YTS/YIFY's) website.

So, I downloaded Lego Jurassic World on mobile as an APK. On launching the game it displayed Chinese text. On translating the text, I found out that it was Chinese Age-verification. How do I bypass this. Or do I not bypass this at all and download another version

Ahoy fellow sea wolves and cannons lovers

I often make websites on WordPress (ecommerce, very packed websites)

And I have no money or intention to buy or pay for anything

But there are those plugins I want to use

I saw some websites that offer nulled plugins, but it seems they are injected with some bad stuff

Is there a way to clean them Or maybe some other way to get the plugins?

Just found out the Switch I got a while back is a V1 model, meaning that it's one of the Switches that's able to be modified. I'm thinking of modifying it, but I'd like to know the upsides and issues first.

For example, this invidious instance offers a download option for a YoutTube video, as that instance does for all YT videos:

~~https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=lU4vv7qCQvg~~ (see update)

Exceptionally, if you opt to download it it merely opens a player to watch realtime. While other downloads from the same invidious instance have no issues. Why is this one getting different treatment?

update Apparently it’s an instance-specific problem with that particular video:

works → https://invidious.fdn.fr/watch?v=lU4vv7qCQvg

broken → https://iv.ggtyler.dev/watch?v=lU4vv7qCQvg

I’ve seen other instances where this particular video download is broken. AFAIK, invidious.fdn.fr is the only place where it works as expected.

I thought my university provided a copy of Mnova, but they didn't. Are there repositories for this kind of software.

I would like to build a music player / device for an older person, not tech savvy user.

I have the MP3s on my linux desktop/laptop, but not all the metadata and cover art.

I've worked with RPi before, jailbreaking iPhones and roku. So I have some limited experience with small devices.

I'm wondering if I could obtain some kind of old/used android phone, remove all the apps so the home screen is completely empty, transfer via USB or ssh/scp the MP3 files (and metadata + cover art), then have some kind of music player app which would be the only app on the phone/device.

Then shutdown any wifi or internet connectivity, but still allow bluetooth to pair with an external speaker.

I need some books paywalled behind Oxford Politics Trove and they aren’t on Anna’s lib, Zlib, Libgen, Memory of the World, Aaarg, or the Internet Archive. Not sure to whom else to turn to. I hate that knowledge like this is paywalled, and I highly doubt the authors will be paid if I pay the highway robbery of a price.

Ive been in a s4s with a guy for a few years after chatting on a reddit share for share community and he went dark a few weeks back so I'm looking for a new s4s partner to help bridge content.

Im not willing to go back onto reddit to find a new share partner so I'm curious if lemmy has one of these? Or is that allowed in general here?

As always, the paying user has the worst experience. "Purchase" a show, can only watch on a certain console of a certain brand, no transfers, no backups, then it suddenly disappears from the library and nothing can be done.

If media companies insist on draconian DRM, then they should pay for full refunds to their loyal customers when one day they decide to delist that specific show.

I am ashamed that I hadn’t reasoned this through given all the rubbish digital services have pulled with “purchases” being lies.

TL;DR - 1. How do most PT's track ratios? is it always by IP address or are there other methods. Asking bc IP address seems like it would be an issue on VPN. 2. Do all PT's operate on ratios or are there other systems? 3. Which PT's are best for competition and education tv shows? 4. other options besides PT's?

1. In general, do Private trackers require you to reveal IP address or some other info that could be used to track real world identity (even temporarily)? Some online recs for ABB alternatives included myanonamouse.net but rule "1.2 Duplicating IP Addresses" sounded VERY anti-VPN / anti-privacy to me and got me wondering if this is something all private trackers do as a method for tracking ratios via IP address or if it is just some of them. Not sure what the BT protocol supports, but seems like using public/private keys or some other equally anon method could be used instead of IP address for tracking stats if privacy was a main goal. If IP address based tracking isn't the norm, then how are ratios generally tracked on PT that let you remain completely anon?

2. Do all private trackers require maintaining ratios or is that misconception on my part? I'm just an average home user and like a lot of people my ISP imposes a monthly bandwidth cap. I don't mind sharing but I also don't plan on paying for something like a seedbox - if I'm going to spend money, I would probably look into some other option that doesn't require any effort on my part. Maybe usenet or real debrid? I haven't explored either of these in as much depth as I would like (so far).

3. Aside from looking for redundant alternatives to nyaa, ABB, irchighway, and libgenesis, the main content I'm having a hard time finding on public trackers is "educational" tv shows. Some documentaries are ok but I mostly mean non-fiction, non-reality-tv shows like like home improvement/gardening/animals/history/engineering/science/firearms/crafting/etc. Don't want to break rule 3 by mentioning any specific names but for example, a competition show that focused on crafting and had eliminations based on design or implementation flaws rather than how a competitor's crafted product looked would be right up my alley. I might also like a competition show that focuses on blue-collar workers. And pretty much anything related to archery/firearms, home improvement, maker, or outdoor challenges is usually fair game. Are there any private trackers (or usenet/real debrid/etc) that specialize in this kind of thing or are at least are more likely to have that kind of content than public trackers? I'm mostly interested in pirate sites for new and existing tv shows but am open to hearing about new youtube channels and the like that match my description too.

4. If there is another option besides public or private trackers that seems relevant to my questions, please feel free to enlighten me...

If it matters, I usually prefer smaller file sizes with x264/x265 encodes. I generally prefer 480p or 720p releases since I sometimes watch from mobile and family doesn't really care about resolutions over 720p anyway (I generally avoid downloading anything over 1080p).

I went to thetvdb.com site yesterday and much to my surprise, they won't let me in unless I subscribe or turn off my adblocker. Is there any workaround for this?

Is anyone here familiar with using DoubleDouble? It seems like you can download from a bunch of services, but you can only search from Spotify or Apple. Is that correct?

I am trying to track down an album in FLAC format that is not on Spotify or iTunes, but it is on Amazon Music, yet DoubleDouble can't seem to find it even if I paste in a direct link to the album. Am I doing something wrong, or is that just how it works?

I got out of video game piracy for a while, but I'm coming back. One thing I have been absolutely SHOCKED by is how finding PC game torrents is actually kind of difficult from my normal sources. Now it'd be one thing if I just wasn't seeing games, but for some reason Playstation and Switch have far more uploaders and seeders on the sites. This is something that would have been unthinkable when I was into piracy. But from a quick glance, it looks like the Switch has a bigger piracy scene than PCs do right now. This was so extreme I couldn't find a torrent for Minecraft past 1.12. I found a download, but not a torrent. Or I couldn't find any of the old versions of Five Nights At Freddy's on PC, but could find them on other platforms. Things I'd consider true PC staples of the past decade with absolutely nothing popping up in my normal sources.

I'm not asking where to find PC torrents (although I certainly wouldn't mind). Are consoles actually becoming more popular to pirate for?

For streaming not-so-easily accessible media that I find only on file hosting sites, which often limit the speed and number of downloads, I unlock links with Alldebrid and stream them in VLC player. This is impossible for members of my family to do, especially on a TV (fire stick). Is there a way I can acquire the links and make something like a playlist for them to access on TV and play just by clicking on the link? Torrentio does something like that for stremio but just for magnet links, I opened using Alldebrid.
