Hello fellow pirates! I'm tired of having all the telegram premium ads and antifeatures in the client and I'm looking for a client that removed them even if it's against the TOS. Any tips? I'd rather use an actual open source fork than a cracked version of the original

I'm looking for both Android and Desktop (Linux)

What I want is to remove the hateful ads in the channels and the "buy premium to unlock these emojis", and also to be able to arrange the folders in whatever order I like, without being forced to keep the "All messages" as first

thanks in advance!

American nonprofit OCLC is known globally for its leading database of bibliographic records, WorldCat. A few months ago, many of these records were posted publicly by the shadow library search engine, Anna's Archive. OCLC believes that this is the result of a year-long hack and, with a lawsuit filed at an Ohio federal court, it demands damages.

WorldCat Sues Anna’s Archive

It is no secret that publishers fiercely oppose the search engine’s stated goals. The same also applies to OCLC, which has now elevated its concerns into a full-blown lawsuit, filed this month at a federal court in Ohio.

The complaint accuses Washington citizen Maria Dolores Anasztasia Matienzo and several “John Does” of operating the search engine and scraping WorldCat data. The scraping is equated to a cyberattack by OCLC and started around the time Anna’s Archive launched.

“Beginning in the fall of 2022, OCLC began experiencing cyberattacks on WorldCat.org and OCLC’s servers that significantly affected the speed and operations of WorldCat.org, other OCLC products and services, and OCLC’s servers and network infrastructure,” OCLC’s complaint notes.

“These attacks continued throughout the following year, forcing OCLC to devote significant time and resources toward non-routine network infrastructure enhancements, maintenance, and troubleshooting.”

The non-profit says that it spent roughly $68 million over the past two years developing and enhancing WorldCat records, which are an essential part of its operation. Having a copy of the data publicly available through Anna’s Archive is a direct threat to its business.

OCLC claims that Anna’s Archive unmasked itself as the “perpetrator of the attacks on WorldCat.org” when it publicly announced its scraping effort. This includes a detailed blog post the operators published on the matter, encouraging the public to use the scraped data.

In addition to harvesting data from WorldCat.org, the defendants are also accused of obtaining and using credentials of a member library to access WorldCat Discovery Services. This opened the door to yet more detailed records that are not available on WorldCat.org.

OCLC says that it spent significant time and resources to address the ‘attacks’ on its systems.

“These hacking attacks materially affected OCLC’s production systems and servers, requiring around-the-clock efforts from November 2022 to March 2023 to attempt to limit service outages and maintain the production systems’ performance for customers.

“To respond to these ongoing attacks, OCLC spent over 1.4 million dollars on its systems’ infrastructure and devoted nearly 10,000 employee hours to the same,” the complaint adds.

Apologies if this is the wrong instance for this.

Is there a best option for HTPC streaming solutions besides throwing Linux on an old desktop? Plugging in a desktop for streaming doesn't work too well for wall mounted televisions. My options are mini PCs or a 3rd party streaming stick. Even a RasPi stick running OSMC should do the trick.

These 3rd party sticks online are extremely tempting for power and features but I'm concerned about embedded malware. Best option would be to wipe it and load OSMCor raspbian to ensure its clean. Anyone have experience with this?

Care to share your setup?

$14.41 | DQ06 ATV Mini TV Stick Android12 Allwinner H618 Quad Core Cortex A53 Support 8K Video 4K Wifi6 BT Voice Remote Smart TV Box | Link

Runner up: $12.90 | Orange Pi Zero 2 W 1GB RAM DDR4 Mini PC Allwinner H618 Orange Pi Zero 2W WiFi Bluetooth SBC Single Board Computer Zero2W | Link

Update: My ideal solution would be $20-$50 for a replacement to several fire sticks in my home. For a solution around $100 I'd just go with a old refurbished mini pc from ebay/amazon and throw full Linux on it.

Setting up Kodi via the linux OSMC distro or even Android TV both work. Might stream games with steam link. Eventually going to setup jellyfin in my home

Current Plan: Get a mini pc and mount it behind / near my television. Ideally I would prefer just a stick for a cleaner / cheaper solution.

Finally researched about the Orange Pi (rasp alternative) and the darn thing comes with full hdmi! Orange Pi 3B Full HDMI and SD / eMMC / M2 (sata3) slots!

Having a hard time finding high quality stuff, only stuff I was able to find is generic trash that doesn't work well. Please someone direct me to mockups with multiple shots/angles and with high production value.

Does anyone know if Defacto2 is legit? I've never heard one of those sites before they preserve all NFOs and cracktros.

The images on the left don't seem to be loading and all I'm seeing weird 'bouncing' or glitching that sometimes extends to the torrents in the middle of the page too.

It's been like that for hours on my end.

I paid for Puzzle Quest 2 on android like a decade+ ago. It is a local single-player game. It has a validation check when you open the app. That check fails because this game is ancient and the servers are offline.

I want to replay the game I paid for. I have the APK from an APK site. It's even been pulled from steam to push their crappy p2w pq3. Anyone have tricks to crank an APK and bypass a server check? I've decompiled the APK but am in a bit over my head.

When I google it it says it was released on HBO Max but I can't find it anywhere

EDIT: apparently its only available on HBO Max Latin America and Cartoon Network Latin America. Is it possible for someone to use a vpn to download it from the hbo site? How do people rip videos from a website like hbo?

Having gradually built up my media collection to near the capacity of my 16TB external HDD, I've reached the point where I'll probably need to build a RAID array to keep the collection in one place. Assuming the RAID array will be at least 32TB, I have a few questions:

  1. From what I've read RAID arrays can help mitigate the risk of individual drives failing if extra space is allotted on the hard drives. Assuming a total capacity of 32TB, how much of that space would be reserved by the RAID array for data loss prevention?

  2. Is there a certain type of hard drive I would have to use? Aside from my 16TB drive, I also have two 2 8TB drives that I'd ideally like to be able to re-use in the RAID array, but have left them in their enclosures for the time being.

  3. If the hard drives in the array have different transfer speeds, does the array as a whole default to the slowest one?

  4. Whether the hard drives I already have are compatible or not, what RAID enclosure and hard drives would you recommend?

AirVPN is also based out of Italy right? I wonder what will eventually happen for AirVPN which is highly recommended after Mullvad VPN closed their port forwarding offer.

I’m using a dedicated PC running Ubuntu and using CasaOS manage the applications I need. I’ve been able to get Nicotine+ and other clients installed without issue but curious if folks have a setup that has just Soulseek going through a VPN? I don’t think I want 100% of my servers traffic going though the VPN (namely Plex), and would like to have Soulseek on this box so all my music stays in one place making it easier to share. Open it alternatives here.

I guess the broader question might be, how are people using a VPN with Soulseek, while also sharing files from locally hosted source? I could put Soulseek on another machine with a VPN but then it wouldn’t be able to see the local only shared folders.

Let's say i download an iso for my latest favourite distro and, after unpacking the rar (usenet) i find the right contents but all the filenames are a bunch of hexadecimal strings. The files are legit, but how do i "decode" the names to know which one is file n.1, file n.2 and so on?

Probably a stupid question, but when signing up for an IPTV service, do you give real details? If not, how do you make them up?! Or do they require real details?

let's say I'm torrenting a movie, and the torrent is downloading faster than the movie would play, is there any software that can handle a constantly changing file? thanks

edit: basically as long as you tell your torrent client to download sequentially, VLC (and probably most other video players) can just play the file like normal. though as one user pointed out, this may affect dl speeds.

I have jellyfin with the radarr/sonarr/prowlarr combo going. I can "heart" things in jellyfin. But it's recommendations are only things I already have downloaded. I see discovery in radarr, but no way to tell it if the movies I downloaded were good or bad. So I must be missing something.

I downloaded the movie ISS. It has some add for a website overlaid on top of the movie, and even ads in the middle. Is there a way to report it or something. I couldn't even get qbittorrent to tell me where it came from.

[How-To] Install and Setup Forza Horizon 5 in Steamdeck

Post is for people who's having hard time setting this up. There are plenty of posts out there (mostly in reddit) but missing some steps, so I decided to give this a try on what has worked for me.

  1. Download game version 1.405.2.0 cracked by Empress
  1. Add the setup.exe as a non-steam game and proceed with installation
  2. Once completed, add the ForzaHorizon5.exe as a non-steam game and force compatability to use Proton GE
  3. If it's not yet downloaded, use ProtonUp-qt to install Proton GE
  4. Download Goldberg emulator files
  • (primary) mr_goldberg.gitlab.io SLASH goldberg_emulator
  • (backup) archive.md SLASH hyYxh
  1. Unzip file then copy all dll from /experimental folder to game folder. Backup original DLLs before proceeding.
  2. If steam_appid.txt is present, edit and keep it empty. Otherwise, create this file with no contents or just delete it.
  3. Play game in Gaming mode
  4. Enjoy

I used to have RARBG in sonarr and everything worked beautifully. Since they shut down my indexers sometimes don't find the available torrents. The only one that kind of works is piratebay. I like the torrentlite website but I've been waiting for it to appear in the list of indexers in jackett. Is there any way for me to add torrentlite to jackett?

I have bought a font with a really shitty license agreement and I have a couple of questions.

  1. How can I best share the font with the community? (I am afraid of metadata in the font files, which may be tied to my payment account etc. - I had to register and log in to download the ttf files)

  2. How can I remove the DSIG and other metadata from the ttf file while keeping it usable?

  3. Are they able to detect it if I use the font in a commercial product online by crawling my website and if yes, how could I prevent an automatic detection attempt?

To my (and possibly your) surprise, I didn't find any free downloads of the font online. Their license is tied to a personal account, you have to log into once a year to keep the license. As far as I understand they theoretically could use the DSIG to let the ttf files "expire", at least when used in software that verifies the signature. But I may be wrong, please let me know.

Thanks in advance and cheers-I mean ARR

A new TV offers the possibility to watch 4k movies to me. I am thinking about upgrading my library but I'm not sure if I want to replace my 1080 collection. I've read that some use a separate 4k library.

Do you? How do you deal with it? I mostly add movies with trakt and radarr automatically. Do you use separate accounts?

So far I have not seen anything on torrent sites

More lost keys..

From a reddit post:

Just seen this on IRC:

"the TLDR is basically: Best case, site comes back up we continue and change things in the backend, okay case, site is down for a little bit while we rebuild backend with likely a new domain, and worst case we close out and refugee you all elsewhere (we might still do this last part too hook up the community even if we are working on the backend"

ETA: IRC admin wrote "I'm currently trying to set up a place where refugees can go to"

ETA2: As far as I understand, someone went away and I quote "without the return of (this person), AR's continued existence is up in the air, we are attempting to work on solutions but he unfortunately seemed to hold more keys to the castle than we were fully aware."

2024-02-06 update:

Hey AR Community,

It's been a stressfull few days.

We are diligently working in the background to try to avoid issues like the last few days going forward. We are also working to establish a more robust backend that doesn't depend on any single point of people failure.

Keep an eye out for changes and thanks for sticking with us as we get over the bumpy road ahead. Yes we know certain things are not working, we are working on it.

Most of all and above all else, I want to thank our community and our committed members. The out pouring of love has been incredible. The amount of love shown by everyone in this turbulent time has been eye opening to say the least.

Thanks

AR Staff
