I joined OPS via a recruitment some time back, but I really don't need this tracker much I don't think.

Don't really care to grind for climbing through it's invite forums. Don't have much need for music torrenting as I thought at the time.

My only worry is like, if I just let my account go inactive would it reflect poorly on the tracker I joined from? That is a tracker I do care a lot to stay in good standing on.

Ahoy!

With the DDG browser out, it got me thinking as to what extensions others use for privacy either on chromium or firefox?

Exactly what the title says. I'm wondering if ScreamAPI is safe because I got a few games on the Epic Games store and don't want to pay stupid amounts of money for all the DLC.

This is just a short rant and is not meant to insult anyone already on here, or further newcomers that joined, join or will still join. Also reminder that this is based on my experience and not necessarily facts, YMMV.

Anyways, in the last few days I've noticed that for some reason, especially on the r/piracy sub (although other subs are of course no exception), that there has been a more positive sentiment towards spez (the CEO of Reddit) and a very negative one against the mods and the protest.

I can understand that a protest which you don't want to take part in may be a breach of your apathy - though what we protest will sooner or later affect everyone, not just those that want to continue using 3rd party apps. I'm guessing they just don't (want to) understand. I'm just gonna leave the following quote here do with that what thou wanteth:

"There's something extremely pathetic about complaining about a problem that only concerns you, but wanting to pull everyone along"

On another note they're also calling everyone who participates in the protest and or makes a comment about alternatives a "mod bootlicker". I want to thank OtakuA* and everyone who does what they do for spreading the word, even when bombarded with downvotes which sadly and disappointingly does happen.

What really got me over my shadow to write this rant (and first post actually) though, was the following reply I got, in return for agreeing with someone and calling the people bootlickers:

"You're shilling for a different company lmfao...pot calling the kettle black..."

I still haven't figured out what they meant? I don't want to call myself smart but maybe I'm not stupid enough to understand?

Anyways, I expected nothing but was still majorly disappointed with the people over at r/piracy where I thought they would be most in favor of the protest.

I hope this rant is coherent enough to understand and that some of you get what I'm saying. I'm not looking for solutions personally I just wanted to get this out. If there are grammatical errors I'm sorry English is not my first language and I also didn't want to read over this post too often otherwise I overthink and delete without posting.

Tl;dr: Admin bootlickers call protesters & supporters "mod bootlickers", me mad

I hope this post shows up I'm posting from kbin - I also didn't look if there were other posts about this already because I wanted to say this asap

Edit: Solution is Zotify, use a burner account for this type of use (playing songs on speakers, quality is fine at 160kbps). It's a bit hard to setup and use, but nothing major. SpotifyDown is the next best option Imo, cannot download full playlists but quality is good. (Not using audio from YouTube videos) Most other options have their quirks. Also, first time using Lemmy because of this sub, pretty good

Quality isn't an issue; I'm going on a road trip and don't want my music to be stuck to my phone. I have Spotify Premium too, but I would like my music on a USB Drive.

I've tried sites, but the one's that can download full playlists, download YouTube audio, and these aren't great (some songs have weird effects/cuts and shit and not the pure song)

Hello, I'm new to all of this. What should one be looking for in a VPN? Is there a certain VPN more people recommend than others? I guess I'm just not really sure where to start here.

3714

Check out !worldnews@lemmit.online. The admin of lemmit.online has set up a bot that fetches reddit posts via RSS, making it much easier to make the switch and of course not getting any ads.

Also, these posts can then be cross-posted to help us create more content on lemmy native communities. Although I do recommend removing most of the post body when cross-posting. Alternatively you can turn the cross-post into a native post as if you simply were sharing content that you've seen on reddit, but with the perk of not having to load reddit.

You can make requests for subs to fetch at !requests@lemmit.online.

In the end we're just using lemmy and lemmit's bot as a simple RSS reader, so nothing illegal or even remotely unethical happening here.

I saw a lot of stuff about search plugins, but I'm not sure which ones people actually use.

Hi all, I want to watch F1, I've looked through the megathread but there's nothing that streams F1. Does anyone know a good site for F1 streaming?

3717

I don't live in the US, so my ISP doesn't really seem to care what I torrent, but the megathread vehemently recommends to always use one. Since VPNs aren't cheap and I'm on a strict budget (wouldn't pirate otherwise), is it really that dangerous to torrent without one?

3718

I've moved from Russia, where torrents are pretty popular and only recently were mitigated by Steam, to a Nordic country. I don't intend on breaking the law, because my residence is temporary and I have funds to buy games, but I wonder if any of these things found in Russia or other Eastern European countries are accepted by people in the Nordics:

  • Local torrent trackers and torrenting in general
  • "Unofficial" streaming services
  • Fan translations
  • Renting and exchanging games
  • Account sharing
  • Selling and installing hardware hacks (e.g. Nintendo Switch homebrew chips)

...so I don't meet confused glances when I mention these Russian "customs" when chatting with locals. Mentioning specific services is not required, of course, I'm just trying to read the atmosphere.

Hi guys! There used to be a time where you could just play di.fm streams for free, anywhere, as long as you didn't mind the 96kbps bitrate. Any streamer could fetch the playlist and stream straight. Moreover, you could also easily find the premium streams! But they capped all of this. First the premium, then the readily available lower quality streams, so you'd need an account and login to the website, and swallow ads from time to time, or the player would die. I just logged recently, and it turns out now you're only allowed to play a very reduced selection of random channels, not the ones you want anymore. And this really breaks it for me. Is there any good...alternative path to listen to them?

3720

anyone know where I can find some audiobooks, can't find anthing on the megathread?

I’d like to watch this last weekend‘s race

More of a tailscalequestions I suppose, but the usecase is heavily this community. Double NAT so no port forwarding. Using Tailscale fine to get to jellyfix/plex. But how would one use it on a hotel TV or at a friends house/TV ? Thought?

3723

Pretty much the title, Cant really find anything that has a similar UI and range of movies/shows.

zlibrary on telegram is the official source behind the websit and they announced a windows app, i downloaded it and got only one threat: a ransomware, i know this is non worrying but someone on the community tab commented some gibberish that maybe indicate something

the virustotal link: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/96eba9b6c29a025fc3984926ea2c5f05181fde18d825f0ab823e5e172369b7e8/community

btw bonus question: can files be flagged 0/60 and still have some kind of malware or virus ?

3725

I know they are mostly in TV and Movies but might be someone deal with Music scene.
