So I just saw Asteroid City and I definitely wanna read the screenplay for it but it’s not on any of the usual sites. Anyone know where I’d find something like that?

Oh, the pirates of the internet,
They sail the digital seas,
With their flags of skull and crossbones,
And their hard drives full of keys.

They plunder all the music,
And they pillage all the shows,
They download all the movies,
And they never pay a coin, you know.

But avast, ye scurvy sea dogs,
For the law is on your tail,
And if they catch you stealing,
You'll be left to rot in jail.

So hoist the Jolly Roger,
And let your colors fly,
But remember that your piracy
Needs a VPN, aye, aye!

I have some video files, stored locally, that I want to add to RD so that family can stream on Plex. I've created a torrent file for the videos and uploaded them along with the torrent file I created to both Google drive and Mega drive. I add the torrent to the magnet link in RD. It looks like it's working but spins at 0% for days, and never gets cached. Anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

I know ideally you seed as much as you can, but I’m curious how much extra resources (memory, cpu, etc) each additional torrent you seed uses? I don’t mind the storage being used, but the box I have all my torrents on isn’t the most powerful and I’m nearing 100 torrents seeding and am a little concerned it may bottleneck the other stuff running at one point. Most aren’t actively seeding all the time, they just occasionally contribute here and there.

I'm looking for a clean version of spotify without ads for android. Now I'm using an old spotify mod (2021) I found in mobilism, that is not obfuscated with Smob so I can be sure the app is clean because I can decompile and compare it with the original unmodded apk (the mod is ~20-30 lines, but not easy to replicate in newer apk versions).

The problem with the recent mods (after 2021) is that they are obfuscated and you can't be fully sure there isn't dangerous code. The solution could be revanced but they don't produce spotify mods that remove ads.

What do you use?

UPDATE: Why not mobilism or xmanager? -> Mobilism and xmanager have both obuscated spotify mods. A forum like mobilims is trusted but is very different from a forum like cs.rin.ru where cracks are checked by a lot of subreddits, private trackers, users etc. In my opinion in a forum like that someone can upload an infected crack (I found some in the past years, you need to decompile them and you can find folders of class/codes with names like "bot", "injection" etc..), the user can be banned but he/she can also register again without problems and post again. Instead in private trackers after a ban you are lost, the story is completely different. Unluckily there arent private trackers for apk mods. The same can be applied to 4pda forum.

No one really knows how things will play out but I was wondering if people are committed to Lemmy, or would the mod team migrate to greener pastures if a better, more functional alternative comes to the forefront.

I'm hoping Lemmy can improve but I personally don't love using it. Its still early days though so that might change. There are a couple promising alternatives in development right now but since they aren't out, everyone is migrating to lemmy.

As someone with a disability, the UI/UX is problematic and makes me physically ill after using it for a short period of time.

Notice there is a lot of talk about private trackers here and I low key miss r/trackers and tps forum, would anyone be interested in collaborating to make a home here? I'm assuming that's allowed?

I've been watching Superman & Lois which is recently airing, but I'm a few episodes behind and can't seem to find a good source for new episodes. The last 3 episodes I see as released on June 14, 21, and 28 (upcoming) so I assume that I should see streams for the first two - or is this normal?

I don't watch anime; the addons I have installed are:

  • Cinemata
  • WatchHub (might not need?)
  • Public Domain Movies
  • OpenSubtitles
  • Local Files (without catalog support)
  • Torrentio
  • CineTorrent
  • Cinestream by dexter21767
  • Torrent Catalogs
  • KOLKOL by dexter21767

In addition to my question about if there's other addons that would more likely have streams for new TV shows, what are your guys favorite addons?

According to Wikipedia, the lastest version of eMule was released in 2010, but "official forum users" developed an updated version as of 2017.

Is this information up to date? Is that still true? I'd feel a lot better installing something on my computer that was last updated at least in this decade, which version of eMule should i pick, if any?

It would be helpful if there were an instance that migrated all of this to Lemmy so that we could access it from any other instance, instead of having to download it for local browsing.

This was data from pushshift before Reddit nuked it in March. You can find this torrent (called "Reddit comments/submissions 2005-06 to 2022-12") and others, including 2023-01 and 2023-02, on https://academictorrents.com by user Watchful1.

Hi, I have a pretty old fire stick (its tiny) and I want to see if I can still use it for Kodi. That is what we originally used it for, it has been so long that I don't really remember anything about it. I can get as far as putting downloader on it and then anything after that, I am lost. Can anyone here help me? If not, can you; lead me to the right place?

3643

It has all the reddit annoucements, many posts, and also a giant list of subreddit channels on telegram... so did the reddit mods make it or just an impostor ?

VPN Recommendations? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I've been using Mullvad for the past few months. Have not had many issues with it aside from the 5 device limit and the removal of port forwarding. I'm currently looking at Private Internet Access as a potential replacement. It looks like it offers 10 device limit and port forwarding included with the price.

Anyone using PIA? How's the experience?

Edit: Probably should have mentioned, feel free to offer any other recommendations, I'm not attached to, or against any specific recommendations. I would like it to have a GUI available on Linux though if possible.

Two years ago I've tried my hand at cracking something, it's quite an unknown game, Arena Wars was the name. I always found it fun to take it for a spin, try out a match or two, then forget about it for a couple months.

Until inevitably, the reason for this project came up. See the game originally came in a disk, and it worked fine at the time, as time moved on however, disk drives ceased to be a thing, now only emulating drives, or plugging drives via USB was possible. Guess what, the game's builtin DRM did not recognize either of them and now I had a game that I owned but could not play. Only way to get it back is by cracking it, it's abandonware too, so its not like anyone gives a damn.

My first try wasn't very successful, x64dbg is a very complicated tool and to anyone who isn't used to reverse-engineering, it's a brutal way to start. Hence giving up, a few months ago I tried with a new technique.

The game, albeit very old, was one of the first to be built in .NET, the same framework which powers Unity games. This meant that there were decompilers (like dnSpy) which could decompile the code and make it easily editable.

Unfortunately there were two problems with this approach:

  • Arena Wars is so old that modern decompilers only support decompiling the code, but not recompiling changes directly, those changes needed to be done manually in the IL code. If you don't know what that is, it's basically working in Assembly, one step above writing in bits and bytes.
  • The code was obfuscated, meaning I had no idea what any of it did, only how it's structured. Making matters worse was that the game had multiple languages, meaning that I couldn't even directly search for text to find what i needed.

So despite being able to see the code, I had my work cut out for me. What followed was a whole trial and error. If the game thought it wasn't legit, it launched in Demo mode, I had to figure out where it got the check for the CD from and flip it so it thought it was legit. Because that I was writing tweaks in IL code, given my skill level, the most I could do is change a + to a - for example, or a < to a >. If I wrote new code or added complex functions, it would change the size of a class and crash the game.

Eventually though I got to where the changes were affecting how the game responded. I discovered the game had an alternate Multiplayer Demo mode, (basically the same thing), as well as a fake real mode. Where it says its legit, but nothing works. While I did this, I took various notes, learning what each function most likely did, steadily building my knowledge of how the game worked, until I discovered where it checked the CDs.

Soon enough, I got lucky and the Demo was no more. I intercepted the response code from the CD check and mangled it quite a bit, now it thinks its legit. Dunno how or why, but now it does. Anyways, soon after cracking it, I ended up cleaning the crack, figuring out exactly which change did it the trick in the executable and boiled down the entire crack to a single changed byte.

Overall, it was quite like a brainteaser, fun to solve, and my reward was getting my game back!

Not saying that anything like SECUROM or DENUVO are next, but for those that like this kind of thing, I imagine they'd start small and slowly get to that level. At the end of the day, it's only a puzzle.

Extras:

Thank you for reading about my journey. Have a day full of wonder!

Edit: If you can't see the images clearly, that's probably because you're seeing them in Imgur's mobile site. When in a phone it automatically redirects you there with a garbage version. To see them clearly, switch on desktop view. >:(

Hi all,

I started using the queue in my deluge install with the automatic rotation, as seeding 1000+ torrents simultaneously was causing performance and network issues. My downloads and uploads are a lot more active now, but the big issue I'm encountering is I will accrue HnRs on certain trackers when a torrent it rotated out of seeding.

Is there a way to force new torrents to stay actively seeding for X period of time? Even better, a way to force it only on specific torrents?

I do have an idea in mind of how to accomplish this:

  • Set up a watch dir for torrents that need to seed for lets say, 2 weeks minimum

  • Have that watch dir add torrents with auto manage turned off and add a specific "force seed" tag or something to identify them.

  • Create a script that will query deluge for the force seeded torrents, and if they have been added more than two weeks ago, turn auto manage back on and remove the force seed tag

  • Run that script on a cronjob every night

I believe the above should work, but it does seem overly complex. Any ideas?

Looking to download an old Fitgirl repack of Trials: Fusion w/ all the DLCs, but none of the torrents I've found are still seeded. Does anyone have a backup or alternative place where I might find it? The only alts I could find were premium sites that'd take 4 days to get downloaded

Is there a reason why all the new movies contain the annoying slot light man on the pirate streaming sites?

3649

I'm a bit surprised to see so many torrent posts. Are most people still using Torrents? Are most piracy users aware of programs like sonarr or radarr?
