Ad blocking on android (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by Nimous@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com

I would like to pirate on my phone sometimes and the ads on websites are problem. I'm not newbie, I know I can install firefox and get the uBlock on it but firefox android is a little bit slow so I prefer to use Opera browser; opera has an ad blocker but it's a joke compared to uBlock. I'm in a restricted country and my phone is not rooted, so if I use ad block apps like AdAway or Adgaurd they need to create a VPN connection in order to function unless the phone is rooted, and that VPN connection doesn't let me to enable another VPN in order to visit filtered websites or apps.

I'm not stuck, but felt if I ask here there may be another smart solution for ad blocking on android that can solve these small problems; and the solution would help other people so be kind and provide what you have.

MaM and Geek and some other sites post a weekly 0-Day dump from the comic usenet boards.

So every week, all the comics for the week a dropped in one bundle. “0-Day Week” is what they’re called.

Make an feed in your usenet/torrent/autobrr client to auto dl these weekly packs. Then in mylar add it to the folder-monitor.

To “quickly” (processing takes a while) jumpstart a collection go to MaM and download entire years worth of comics and have mylar import them all.

Please use MaM as having seeders is really important for all these comics.

So I’ve got a rip of the Japanese Blu Ray of Evangelion, and I’d like to turn it from a jumble of numbered .mts files into something more useable. How do I get started going about that process? As an example, if I download a raw CD rip, I can use cuetools to turn it into a list of .flac tracks ready for listening. Is there some similar software (or multiple programs) for Blu Rays? I’m not really familiar with working with .m2ts files and don’t know where to start

EDIT: makeMKV worked (just to test, handbrake did as well, because the version I have has no DRM, but bear in mind that HandBrake is going to transcode/compress the resulting file by default). This turned the contents of the disk into 1 MKV file, which I could then run through MKVToolNix and split into individual episodes

Is Google hunting down all team drives? In yesteryears you could get a team drive for free and start uploading all kinds of data there and no one seemed to care

Ahoy mateys! I recently added Readarr to my arsenal, and I'm having trouble with some settings. I can't figure out how to stop Readarr from automatically adding every book from an author. I have my settings set to None for both the specific authors and globally, but still everytime I add a new book, that authors entire library is added.

Does anyone know a way to stop this? I don't need every Stephen King novel ever written to appear in my interface.

I have heard before there might be a way to get audio tracks for movies. I already have a sizable collection (nothing worthy of datahoarding) and would like to add a foreign language for my parents (French). Subtitles are already taken care of with Bazaar, that's a big help. I use Plex and Jellyfin is my backup.

Often I can find multi-audiotracks files, original+french, but it greatly limits my choices if I am trying to do one library. I could also create a completely separate French library, but trying to avoid that.

What do you think? Is downloading audio tracks a viable option?

i wonder how much is left from the very early sharing ideals from the dawn of the internet.

do you juat take or do you offer something?

upload stuff, contribute by seeding, rip, be part of a group ..?

This is where the argument that piracy is also preserving games stands up. Although, it begs the question why games developers do not properly archive their software.

Hey everybody, does anyone know where I can get the Life is Strange comic volumes?

I tried annas-archive and found volume 2,3 and 6. The first one is on there as well but for some reason the filesize is gigantic compared to the rest and the download always fails for me.

I know, that the comics are also available as single issues but I would prefer to have the complete volumes.

Thanks for your help

I've been using JDownloads2 to download from YouTube Music. But my car stereo only supports mp3 so have to convert the files. Any suggestion for good audio converter that works in large batches? I've looked, and maybe my google fu sucks, but can't see a way to force JDownloads to do MP3, it's doing m4a.

So after wasting a large part of my life working in couple different industries iv decided that IT is the correct route for me.

It seems getting a comptia a+ cert is a good start for someone green wanting an entry level or at least start going the right direction. (please let me know if im way off)

Anyone can point me to some study/practice/learning/helpful material? And if im incorrect about CompTIA A+ cert being a good starting point for an entry level let me know thanks.

Yarrr all

Inspired by some of the posts here I decided to give the above setup a go. I purchased a month on Real Debrid, installed Kodi with Fen on my Chromecast TV and it seemed to be working...with some hiccups.

My Chromecast TV (or at least the one I tested it on so far) is the basic version (no 4K support). 4K content is really choppy on it. I managed to set up so that it's only showing 1080p content and I got the following result:

  • Shrek 1 worked perfectly fine. The subtitles loaded in correctly, the movie played fine.
  • Shrek 2 didn't show any links (shows links when setup to show 4K content)
  • John Wick 4 (only available as 4K, nothing showing up when set to only show 1080p content, same as above)
  • John Wick 2 showed 1080p content but the movie starts somewhere in the middle of the movie (not even that it's rewinded to half of the movie - literally time code 00:00:00 is in the middle of the movie)

Is it possible that some (most of the movies in my experience so far) are only available in 4K?

What'd up with some of the movies showing from the middle of it?

Thanks in advance

What is your primary media that you pirate?

Mine has always been music. I don't really download a lot of it as much anymore. But I am registered to a dirt cheap MP3 site where I pay $1.22 for an entire album and then download it.

Games, I used to have pirated but I've got so damn many that it defeats the purpose. I've downloaded hundreds of ROMs of old games and gotten some DRM-free stuff from DDL. I'm set for life on games.

Movies, I don't pirate. I've built a steady collection just by thrifting alone for dirt cheap movies, not even burned copies.

Books, I mean if I really had the ambition to, I'd pirate. But I honestly prefer having the books in my hand and I can get them for cheap.

Shows, same as movies. I thrift a lot and that neutralizes the need for me to pirate.

Software, yeah I still occasionally will pirate if there's a program I'm not going to sink some $$$ digits for or some poor sap out there wanting to charge $70 for a "lifetime license" for a software of a tool I'd need desperately for something I want done and I'm not gonna wait a lifetime for to finally afford without buyer's remorse.

So, music and software is all I'm after because I love music above all other media.

Like the title says, Im looking for a reliable place for unlocked apks. I do have qbittorent and jackett setup but I didnt really see any indexxers for apks.

Best I can find for the game I'm looking for (Melvor Idle) was just a copy of the demo version of the game.

Hi all! Just this...I have a remote Deluge server I connect to with the Deluge thin client. The Deluge server is connected to all the -arr servers, which add the torrents to download. However a lot of downloads start crapping out every few hundred MBs. They get to speeds of 25MB/s (normal for my current connection), and then shortly after show an error. I do a forced check, and they end up on paused mode. I press play, and after less than ten seconds...error again. It's a PITA to keep slowly pushing forward these torrents. Any idea what causes this, or how to fix it?

Hello my fellow pirates. I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with skidrworeloaded? Are they legit ? Or just another shady site with malware ?

I have already done the prerequisites and am trying to get the Jackett.py file(the plugin itself) but every time I click on the download button it takes me to this site. I can't figure out how to download Jackett.py from here. Any assistance would be appreciated.
