Patty, Shermy, and Charlie Brown stand in a clearing in the woods with items in their hands. She says,"Well, we're all set for our picnic..."

Shermy stoops and places his bag on the floor. He says,"Here's the ice cream!" Patty opens her dish and shows the cake inside; She says,"And here's the cake...."

She turns to Charlie Brown who has his hands cupped closed. She asks,"What are you holding in your hands, Charlie Brown?"

They both look at him as he exclaims,"Soup!"

Shermy is hammering the croquet stake in the ground. He says,"Croquet is a swell game"

He rummages into the croquet box as Patty crouches across from him. He exclaims,"Hey, Patty, we're short two wickets!" She asks,"Are you sure?"

Snoopy sits and looks up at her questioningly as she turns to look at him and says,"Hmm...."

He stoops in front of him and exclaims,"All you have to do is hold still...the game won't last forever!"

The basic gag is recycled from the Li'l Folks strip from May 29, 1949:

Charlie Brown stands in the living-room looking out the window. He wonders,"Is that my dad out there mowing the lawn?"

He runs off continuing,"The poor guy looks like he needs a little help..."

He reaches into his toy box and pulls out one of his toy.

He rolls his toy lawnmower out onto the lawn. He says,"I'll take the main part, dad...you just trim around the edges!"

Patty is sitting on the floor dialing the phone. She says " But I'm afraid that If I didn't, I wouldn't be Invited!"

He resumes hoeing as she sits. He concludes,"What gets me is that I'll have to take a bath when I'm done!"

She turns and watches Charlie Brown sit down and resume playing. He concludes,"Sure, he's afraid of the dark!"

He sits on the floor holding his head and confused as the girls walk off. Patty concludes,"All girls carry 'mad money'."

She stoops next to him and asks,"How would it be if you just snatched them out of my hand?" He replies,"Well...."

She walks off flowerless saying,"Charlie Barown is so manly!"

Snoopy stops as he pushes the entire cone towards him and exclaims,"Oh, all right! Here!! Take the whole thing!"

As she runs back to home, he says,"I missed you while you were away!" She smiles.
