HouseDraft has been up and running for a few years now, and I've kept thinking "after I'll advertise it on Reddit," but the time never seemed right. So now you fine folks are the first to hear the official announcement, I guess. But yeah, my friends and I have been using this site to run drafts at our houses (hence the name) for years now, and it works fine.

It's free to use, you don't need to make an account, it doesn't show ads or mine your data or anything. There's no catch. Unless you count the fact that I'm coding it as a hobby in my spare time, so the update schedule is pretty slow.

At present, Swiss is the only supported tournament format. I'd like to at least add support for single-elimination brackets so you can cut to a Top 8, but see above about my update schedule.

In the likely event that you don't immediately understand how to use the site, refer to the "instructions" and "about" links at the top-right of the page.

Feedback is welcome!

I finally did it. I went through the entire web fiction archive and turned it into EPUBs (except the NEO manga PDF).

330 "books", 2.24 GB

All stories have the proper metadata with title, author(s) and series (set/block/anthology) and include the proper cover image as shown on the MTG Story Archive here: https://magic.wizards.com/en/story

Link

This is the link to the Google Drive containing the files. The anthologies and chapters are separated by folder so you can choose your preferred reading experience.

It was A LOT of work but made much easier using a variety of software tools to automate the most important steps.

Future

In the future I may write custom software that would let me scrape a database of links and do every step automatically but that would take longer than the one whole day it took me to do this. There's is also no source that I know of that has a complete mostly of all free web fiction with working links. It's a mess on the mothership.

Enjoy!

I'm looking to play casually (in person) with some friends and we were wondering what the cheapest format to start buying for would be? And what might be some good pick ups (we have the starter decks but want some more variety) thanks!

Mark was asked in his Blogatog:

Is no planeswalkers going to be the norm for Universes Beyond, or did they just not fit in 40K and LotR?

We are only planning to do planeswalkers in Wizards owned IPs.

We're currently working on building out a card fetcher bot similar to Reddit's, that will post a reply with scryfall links to any cards you put in your post or comment in the following format: [[Card name]].

We'll keep all discussion here and announce in a separate post when the bot is live!

I'm very new to mtg and have only been playing arena a little, but I've ordered some physical decks. I was wondering if there were some famous cards that a beginner should know? For any reason really, gameplay, lore, etc.

Thanks in advance!

PS. is there anything like the Reddit bot that fetches the cards here?
