Please forward to the higher-ups that I am genuinely disappointed Mystery Booster 2 is only going to be available at conventions, as Wizards have stopped supporting the game in my region and the first Mystery Booster was one of my favorite products of its year.

I try to use this blog to help explain the behind the scenes of decisions. Conventions was looking for a unique play experience for conventions. They decided that Mystery Booster 2 could be that experience, so they funded it. It’s at conventions because the convention team paid for it out of their budget to be that unique thing at conventions.

If that didn’t happen, the product would not have existed. There would be no Mystery Booster 2. We’re full up on normal releases. There’s plenty of feedback from all of you to make less product releases, not more. So, conventions was able to make something happen that normally wouldn’t happen.

We did realize though that not everyone has the ability to attend conventions. That’s why we made Festival in a Box. It’s a way for players who are unable to attend a convention to join in on that experience, including playing Mystery Booster 2.

Disappointing, but at least it makes a little more sense why it's not available. I'd like that if they have space in the future releases they can do a reprint of the set for stores

Wizards rebalanced 3 cards in Historic effective tomorrow, all in RW energy and related decks:

  • Galvanic Discharge now only gives you 2 energy
  • Guide of Souls now requires 4 energy to get the counters/flying
  • Ocelot Pride now costs 1W

In response to the last Arena Champs: "Making up 58% of the field at the most recent Arena Championship 6, Boros Energy demonstrated its power at one of the highest levels of competitive play."

Gavin Verhey: "Wait, what's this?? Mardu Outrider is a card that has only ever existed on Arena. We snuck it and a couple others into MB2 though to really hit as many sets as possible! I wonder what other Arena-only cards might have made it in?"

Revealed live at GenCon in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Dungeons & Dragons 50th Anniversary Superdrop will contain five individual Secret Lair drops with their own unique offerings. While details for the superdrop are still limited, WotC did provide the titles of each individual drop so we can get an idea of possible themes.

Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons®: An Exhibition of Adventure

Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons®: Astarion’s Thirst

Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons®: Karlach’s Rage

Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons®: Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder

Secret Lair x Dungeons & Dragons®: Death is in the Eyes of the Beholder II

Personally I found Farewell and The Wandering Emperor to be some of the most un-fun cards to play against. Farewell, in my opinion, should never have been printed. Losing Farewell is a huge gift to Standard and I think that kind of card is just miserable for so many decks.

Anyone excited for the new rotation? Any older decks that are now competitive again? Any new brew ideas? I'd love to hear them!
