Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

I've noticed that lately when I try to click on a hyperlink or something like that my internet app will open but it just sits at the home page. Is anyone else dealing with this?

Markup let's you label a link which is really nice for readability but can also be used to trick people into opening a different site from what they are shown. For example the link below suggests it takes you to a Mastodon instance but if you blindly tap it it will take you somewhere else:

https://mastodon.social/explore

Is there a quick and convenient way to check the actual URL behind a link? I know that it's possible to show a post as plain markup but in longer posts with potentially multiple links it's cumbersome to correlate what is what.

Ideally long tapping a link should show you the actual URL or alternatively you always get a small confirmation pop up with a simple tap (that's how it worked on RIF for instance).

Just sanity checking if I'm missing anything, else I might submit a feature request.

Edit: looks like this was added in a recent update. Get the newest version and it will let you long press a link to get an options menu.

Is there any way to disable thumbnail downloads on mobile data?

When I am typing and press the backspace, the words get clumped together that shouldnt have been.

Version: 0.0.44

[Sorry that I had to use Reddit to upload video about Jerbora]

I want to know if any option is available for cross-posting.

Pinching the screen (especially with single hand) doesn't reliably zoom images and I have to try multiple times to get it to work

Sometimes when scrolling it just abruptly starts scrolling up with massive speed. I don't know how to reproduce this issue.

Usually when I'm scrolling, the feed will have posts added to the bottom. Sometimes however, I'll get to the bottom of the feed and there are no more posts. Sometimes if I drag up the posts up, more posts will then appear. Sometimes if I scroll up a bit and then back down, more posts will appear. However, sometimes neither scrolling up a bit and then back down nor dragging the posts up makes more posts appear.

How is this supposed to work? Why do more posts sometimes not appear? It's quite infuriating. And what makes it more infuriating is not understanding what the program is supposed to be doing.

Thanks.

It looks like text wraps because it is too long, this ends up looking a bit off. Perhaps you can try scaling it down to fit the monitor width.

Cheers,

When opening the app and seeing the home screen, its possible to swipe from the left border to the right to see your subscriptions.

Then when clicking on a post or opening a community, one has to first go back to the home screen to swipe again.

I would like to use swipe from left regardless where I am. That way one can quickly switch communities without always having to go back to the home screen.

What do you think?

When I click on links like the one circled below, nothing happens at all.

Aiming to send a link to a community to a non-lemmy user to show them a reason to join.

I don't see the option, been just searching for it in a browser and using the web URL of the instance.xyz/c/. Thank you!

Basically one cool thing you can do here is link an image in a comment and have it display automatically.

I was wondering if we could get a feature that if the URL ends in an image extension and has no text in the text box it tries to have it be a direct image.

The formatting for images doing that is:

I was recently browsing a thread and I wanted to flag something as a spoiler. I've seen other posts do it elsewhere so I dug around until I found out how.

I found it odd that we didn't have a quick template like the other ways of typing things out.

And for those curious how to tag things as spoilers this is how:

Like this

Tada

Edit: It could even be styled like it is for links, a box for the spoiler title and a box for spoiler text.

I have never received receieved notifications through the usual notifications at the top of the screen, does the app not do that or is it my phone? I have to open Jerboa to see that I got either a reply or a message.

I use the F-Droid version of Jerboa on GrapheneOS 13.

Is anyone else having an issue where if you click on an image to view it and then click back there will be a black bar added above the bottom home bar? This is pushing up the + button as well.

Earlier I accidentally clicked delete when I meant to click edit on one of my comments and I was surprised to see no confirmation pop-up when I did it.

It was pretty cool to be able to restore it though, that's a feature I didn't know how much I wanted in other apps for other places until I saw it here.

Edit: Spleling

If I was logged into several instances at once in the client and seeing the composite feed and then could choose instance when replying or posting (with some set default, like from: field in e-mail clients) lemmy.world could ban piracy all it wants and it'd still be in my feed without me having to leave it or change instances.

EDIT: Probably solved: Not an issue of Jerboa but Blokada interfering with the internet connection checks.

I thought I would ask here if someone else experiences this strange behaviour.

So I have updated my app to the latest version which is available on f-droid (which is 0.0.42 - I think there is already a 0.0.44 on github?). Since then I have the problem that I can neither vote, comment or post in the app. Trying to do so results in the above error message. If I try to open my profile, I get the message that I don't have internet connection which I clearly have. I mean the content is loading. It would be weird if they do without Internet. :) Next to my user name there is this warning triangle but I don't know what that means

If I go back to 0.0.41 everything works fine. No error messages and no triangle. I will add some screenshots for clarification.
