Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

An example (text obfuscated as it's irrelevant):

The entire area of this screenshot except the white text, post time, and space immediately between those two; opens one of the hyperlinks. (ie: all of the empty space to the right of the green links, all the way up to the edge of the screen, as well as the green text itself)

I wouldn't expect or want empty space to open links, particularly if I'm trying to minimize/collapse a comment with questionable links in it.

Idk if it's just me, but I don't see anything about it being down. It seems quite unstable for me

Just to name a few things:

  • doesn't keep me logged in
  • home page view isn't loading (default set to top week subscribed) but All loads. In general, a lot of content isn't loading, or updated, for example there's some posts I created in reddit archive community but the posts aren't showing up in my posts

I do have the most recent version. I'm on an OP8T using Nameless13 if it matters. I'm also on data but it's same on wifi

I end up just browsing Lemmy via browser instead. Anyone experience stability issues like this or is it just normal as an app is being developed?

Edit:it almost seems like it's not even just this app. Wefwef, thunder, and liftoff are having trouble loading content. Perhaps it's an issue with Lemmy.world? But the web version of Lemmy loads fine so maybe it's whatever api has to load into apps? Either way, I have no idea where to go from here :( Guidance or any info would be so appreciated

I like scrolling "all" to find communities I might find interesting. It would be really great if there was some sort of indication if the post I'm looking at is from a community I'm subbed to or not. It would be a lot easier than going to the community and check for the eighth time because I don't remember if I've subbed to this one before or not. A small QoL improvent

When I look at the community info, it only gives me the name, and not the instance. This is useful information as some instances block others, so it's important to know where you actually are.

Really I'm just tired of hearing about Elon cause it'll always provoke a reaction in me

@jerboa Post titles showing raw markdown.

I've mostly noticed it on posts from Mastadon. Seems to be a fairly common issue with most apps (was recently fixed in Voyager https://github.com/aeharding/voyager/pull/515)

Blocked communities still show up in my feed when I'm using Jerboa. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm registered at lemmy.world, and if I login via web, then the blocked communities don't show (no matter what instance they're hosted at), which is the way it should be.

Tap twice on Home to reset the feed (lemmy.rollenspiel.monster)

I like that 0.0.41 finally fixed the Home button thing (it brought you back to the beginning of the feed... kinda annoying), but now, I have no way to reset the feed, other than scrolling back to start, lol 😂.

I suggest double tap on Home to reset the feed... or maybe long tap to bring you to the start of the feed (not reset, just bring you to start) and double tap to bring you to top (start) AND reset the feed.

Hi, I am wondering if there is any way to browse a specific instance and view the communities and info about that instance?

Please add spelling check support (lemmy.rollenspiel.monster)

Spell checking just doesn't work... as far as I could tell, in all of the apps for Lemmy (at least the 3 or 4 others that I tried apart from Jerboa) and I have no idea why this is.

I have Gboard set up to underline and suggest corrections, not actually auto-correct, because English is not my native language and I use ~~Latin~~ the Latin keybord (mostly) for my native language as well, so it doesn't auto-correct the words when I communicate locally.

Tried SwiftKey, but it doesn't have any options regarding spellchecking, it just has auto correct, suggestions and that's it... so it doesn't actually suite my needs.

I'm a huge fan of the Jerboa app, and it's the closest experience I've gotten to RiF from any of the Lemmy apps. It's been a pleasure to use despite the occasional hiccups, but one thing that I thought I could personally contribute to was the icon for the app itself. I thought I'd share them with the community, in case if anyone wanted to download them to use for themselves :)

The above Google Drive link contains the five icons featured in the post, and if you guys have any ideas, suggestions, or specific assets you want, feel free to let me know and I can add them to the folder or reply with it in a comment. Things like color changes don't take much time at all, so don't hesitate to ask for something custom!

Jerboa was the first client i tried. I've tried several others. Jerboa is my lemmy app.

The only thing that bothers me is after an update (this happens using both izzy and fdroid repos) upon relaunch i get "network error". It looks like i'm still logged in but my username is gone from the sidebar. If i try to log in i get json errors popping up in red text into the ui. Not a dialogue window, but within the background graphics.

I have to manually log out, close app, and login again.

This issue has been persistent across a number of updates since i started using the app.

I use a vpn/dns/firewall but have the app excluded/bypassed, except the dns (dnscrypt/doh/tls fallback.) Dns allows everything it should. ?

Android 13, may security updates.

Images show dns from store refresh to relaunch after update. Will pull logcat to see if it shows anything.

I'm guessing there isn't at the moment, but I can't stand how overloaded the feed gets with the copy and pasted posts from reddit.

I get that a lot of communities here are small and are trying to add content to up engagement, but, for example, I'll see 5 plus posts from r/aitah in a row with no comments and I don't see why many people would even consider replying when the OOP isn't even here to see it.

I'm actually considering blocking some of the communities that have a lot of this, but don't want them gone once their original Lemmy posts get more frequent.

As the title says, I believe your own posts should always show up in the Profile - Posts section. There should be no reason to hide your own posts from yourself...

I posted recently but noticed I could not see it in the community nor in my Posts section of Jerboa. I used Jerboa to actually create the post. If I login to Lemmy via the web I can see my post in both places. Bug or something I am doing wrong in Jerboa? TIA

This is just a concern I had with the client. Back during the good ol' Reddit days, I get notified about a post/comment reply immediately when it happens. I have since left that website, and for some reason I don't know why this isn't a feature yet.

And yes I have tried Connect for Lemmy, I had major problems with that app.

Motivation: I (sometime) try/need/want to write in-depth answers, which (often) require to quote multiple part of an article or multiple messages.

Relay for Reddit (and maybe others) had a feature which remembered what you already typed in a reply (draft) which allowed the user to enter reply mode, start typing an answer, exit reply mode, lookup some more information, copy some material, reopen reply mode and continue where he left off without losing the previous input.

Alternative: using another app to type message until it's ready.

Hey there!

Would it be possible to add a toggle to activate the immersive mode?

Also, on communities, can you add a search feature inside communities? Maybe in the hamburger menu?

Thank you!

or is it possibly due to my shitty phone (low RAM)?

I'm not hating on this by the way, in fact I think it's kinda funny!
