Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

RIF had pride of place on the home screen, too.

Thanks for all the hard work on this app. I'm enjoying it a lot already.

Pretty much the title. It is a minor quibble for me, but having the toolbar always available would save some back and forth.

On that note, I love immersive or fullscreen mode. Hope that will come one day.

That said, Jerboa is a great app. I enjoy using it. ๐Ÿ™‚

I wanted to hop over to the github to contribute, but it took me a hot minute to realize that the Jeroba link was to github. My brain immediately thought that would take me to the appstore page for the app. If you added a GitHub labelled link to the list of links at the bottom of the sidebar, it would make it more clear

Previously, when I would go to the inbox and look at new replies, I could interact with those replies from the inbox- there were buttons to upvote, reply, and go to the context. But those seem to be gone in the new update- was that intended?

My inbox appears to not refresh. If I switch accounts then go back to the other account it finally shows the new messages.

Perhaps I'm just impatient? Pulling down to refresh doesn't seem to help.

After I downloaded the latest update I no longer have actionable icons underneath my unread messages.

Previously there was the same actions available as if viewing these messages as a comment on a regular post.

Maybe removed by accident?

On a different instance account I'm getting an error trying to tell people what OS Jerboa is on, or say something about a particular instance, but every time I try to post those comments I get an error saying language_not_allowed am I doing something wrong here? Are certain words censored on Lemmy or Jerboa?

Sometimes I hit the back button enough time so it just drops me right out of jerboa. Can we get a prompt for are you sure you want to leave jerboa?

In the "about" section in the settings there is a link to donate to the development of Jerboa. The link just sends me to a page about donating to the Lemmy project in general. Where can I go to support Jerboa directly?

Hello,

I'm a reddit refugee and used to rif. I particularly liked it because the design made it possible to read a lot of text without scrolling too much. I'd like to have the same experience here, but the two things I mentioned in the title impede that.

  1. I can change the font size, but the size of the thread titles in the feed is smaller than the font size of the comments, so I can choose between titles being too small or comment texts being too big. It would be really nice to adjust them separately.

  2. I feel there is a lot of empty space before and after texts, UI symbols etc. I really liked the "density" of rif. I get that a lot of people prefer the opposite, but maybe it's possible to also make that individually adjustable?

Oh and I'm using the android app.

Btw, off topic, but I'm kind of getting exited about all of this. I felt that reddit was one of the last spaces that wasn't completely messed up by corporate interest and I hope the whole fediverse thing will be a sustainable replacement. Keep up the good work!

I can't find any way to change the comments sort, and they seem to be sorted kinda randomly. Is there any way to change it?

814

If there is, I don't see it. Am I missing something obvious?

815

Is there a way to have links to instances and communities in comments to actually open in jerboa rather than going to a browser?

816

I can't figure out how to log into jeraboa. Any help is appreciated. Reddit refugee here.

In the example screenshot you can see that the age is "1" but you cannot see if it's one second or one year. I was wondering if there's an easy fix or perhaps if the issue is known/tracked?

I would love to be able to set my default view to all (instead of local) and to hot (instead of active).

Or instead of changing a setting, let the app remeber the last view you used? Though, I wouldn't want it to default to the last community I was looking at.

Is there a way I can make sure my pictures post right side up? Even when it's correct in the preview window, it flips to one specific orientation once I post (sometimes upsidedown or on its side)

Top left menu > Anonymous > add account

I spent two days thinking the login feature was broken on the app. If I tapped on the "login first" popup it didn't take me to a login, it just behaved like I was tapping whatever was underneath the popup.

I hope this helps!

I can't seem to upload images either in the app or via a browser and get a json error. Anyone else? Is it maybe the instance I'm on?

Tap on a comment and it and the comments below it could collapse. Possibly have a colour to highlight collapsed comments. Maybe not the highest priority, but it would add some luxury. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ˜Š

This is a screenshot of the settings look and feel section. There is clearly more settings below the voting arrows option, but the page doesn't scroll anymore.

Sorry, I am stupid. I cannot remember my instance. Could I see my login name inside Jerboa?

I appreciated how the reddit app I used (relay) kept everything internal. I don't want all the links I open on this app opening in my browser and plugging up my history. I doubly appreciated how it would open YouTube links in an internal video player that wasn't linked to my YouTube account in any way. This is a must have for me to prevent my YouTube "algorithm" from getting any ideas. For example, I watch a video about "X" and now my whole feed is suggesting I watch more videos about whatever "X" was.
