Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

I don't mean to see just subscribed communities, but to see all posts but the ones you block. Rif had this ability and it was a godsend, I'm wondering if this app does too.

Is there a way to open redgifs in app? Currently they open in browser which is definitely not my preference

For example clicking back space in "Any idea what's going on?" Caused it to read "Any idea what'sgoin". I've only noticed this with Jerboa.

I think it's an important feature for the user's safety. In Boost and many other applications, you can see the full url by holding your finger on a hyperlink. This however does not work on jerboa. I'd be thankful if you could add this feature as I feel stressed whenever I tap on a link that I might get rickrolled.

Enjoying Jerboa. Just hoping that a small bit of feedback gets noticed that would improve the experience for me a lot.

When reading comments, single click collapses the thread, whilst holding just collapses/expands that one comments vote buttons. Could there please be an option to swap thess two actions?

I can't help but feel the UX would be improved, at least for myself (but hopefully others), if I could show/hide vote buttons on single tap, and only hide the whole comment thread if I long hold the comment. Right now I keep accidentally collapsing stuff I'm reading the replies to.

Thanks for a great app.

Looks like currently there's only options to sort by Top of the past day, week, month, and year. Reddit also had a hour option that I think would be useful for browsing the home page. Maybe even top of the past 10min would be helpful? I'm thinking it'd be helpful for sorting all or subscribed where there's a ton of posts now

hi all!

I do see the correct amount of posts in the overview, but the posts screen itself is empty.

not sure if this is a Jerboa issue or one of the Sopuli instance

thanks!

edit: thanks to burgersc12 & jcreazy I tried toggling the "Show read posts" option and although it was originally activated, after reactivating I can now see me own posts again :-D
so, problem solved - but the behaviour was still very strange

I know that posts can be hidden by reading.

But what I miss most is a button to hide posts while scrolling over them, so that I don't see the same posts over and over again.

(Boost for Reddit has a Button to "hide all previous", so you don't have to hide each post individually, but all at once)

With beehaw de-federating from lemmy.world (and seemingly most of the fediverse and this point), myself and many others no longer have a way to even lurk beehaw. Coupled with the fact that beehaw seems to gate-keep their registration, I'm wondering if there's a way to at least lurk their instance without needing an account. I know it can be done via their website. Is that something Jerboa supports as well?

This might be a Lemmy question more than a Jerboa question, but no matter what I try I can't seem to mention myself in a comment and have it show up in my inbox. Is there a trick to mentioning someone? Or is this part of the app not working? Or do I need to wait for the federation to do some funky syncing between instances?

It wants me to uninstall and reinstall since the signature of different, which makes sense as it from a different source, but it doesn't mention anything in the changelog.

I've tried clicking everywhere on comments I receive in my inbox, but I can't reply directly, is this a bug?

Edit: nvm, this was apparently fixed in the latest release

Edit 2: You need to longpress them to make the toolbar appear. I must've done this by mistake

Browsing this post in the app shows me links to hacker news, those still open in Firefox custom tabs thing despite that they are disabled in the jerboa settings.

Normal links open in my default browser as they should.

Edit: it happens to the hacker news links in this post as well!

Ps: unrelated feedback: the + button you use to submit posts should be something different. Like it should say submit.

Hi,

I'd be super happy if Jerboa featured a native way to tag users in a thread or even hashtags of the expanded fediverse. Is there currently a way to do that and I just missed it? For an example of what I mean, I'll refer to the Reddit Enhancement Suite on Desktop.

Say I want to reply to two users in a thread in the same comment. I'll reply to user A's post so they get a notification, but I also want to make sure user B also sees my comment. I start typing /u/user and RES automatically gives ma a drop-down list to Auto complete of all the users populating this thread that match what I've started to type out. In this case, RES suggests a drop down list of

  • userB
  • userC
  • userD

I click on userB and hit send on my comment. Now both user A and user B receive a notification.

Is that possible? And if so, could we apply the same logic to hashtags in the fediverse or Mastodon to begin with?

I just blocked two communities 196 and 195 from the feed, but when blocking the latter the block button on jerboa showed "block 196" again and selecting that didn't block 195. I'm the end I had to go into that community and block it from there.

hi, jerboa crush on my phone when I try to open "!community@instances" in-app link, is it happening to someone else? if not, how can I solve it?

670

I'm having this error most of the time I try to comment. It seems to be because I can't manually select the comment language like I can on the web UI.

After scrolling for more than a few posts (probably past the first "page" of infini-scroll), going to the comments of any post and back brings you back to near the top. This is quite frustrating.

Using Android 10 and the most recent version of Jerboa.

Hi. I think it would be great to have an option to put buttons at the bottom. When I open images in fullscreen mode I just can't tap download button because it is too close to screen border.

673

Just what it says. Can we see the upvotes on comments? It's a little obfuscating if you're mostly a commenter like I am. Maybe it's me, let me know.

This morning when I picked up my phone, the Jerboa icon on my phone's homepage had a transparent background, as it had when first installed a week-or-so ago.

Sometime, mid-day today, I saw the icon had a solid white background.

Did this change as a result of an update, or maybe my (admittedly old) phone just catching up to 2023?

I must admit, I kinda liked the transparent-background version.

Probably a dumb question, but I can't seem to find an option to change the sort order of comments inposts. Also, is there a way to make a default sort order for posts as well? Thanks!
